How does epinephrine work

Common Questions and Answers about How does epinephrine work

epipen

Avatar f tn Yeah I was wondering about the epinephrine. Someone was telling me I wouldnt stay numb if they didnt use epinephrine?? But I will definetely keep this in mind and talk to the dentist about it.
1817071 tn?1366228243 I have had a ton of dental work done and I remind my dentist every time no epinephrine. Also something to be aware of...if you have a tooth crowned when they are doing the crown prep they use a string coated in epinephrine to retract your gum prior to making the impressions. It is equivalent to about 3 shots with epi. They have string that does not have the epinephrine so be sure to remember to ask if you are having a tooth crowned.
Avatar f tn so how long does the epi last? is it really needed? dont they got another thing thats not contraindicated with beta blocker and not caused palpitation and racing heart?
Avatar f tn Will the loose skin return to normal, how long does it take, and how can this be prevented in future dental work? Did the dentist inject the local too quickly or not quite in the right place? Did the local get into the soft tissues of my face and I don't know, displace adipose tissue or something, is that even possible?
Avatar f tn s the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
1047019 tn?1256719961 ve also recently developed a bad allergy to wheat and gluten. Does novacaine contain either? I am worried about some kind of allergic syndrome developing.
Avatar n tn It may be due to the epinephrine but since they removed that element, it could be either anxiety/nervousness or what we call lidocaine toxicity. The anesthetic may have made its way through the bloodstream and into your brain, resulting in some of the symptoms you've described. Which tooth are they treating?
Avatar f tn Strattera... my salvation for concentration. Been taking it 7 years now to counteract the "attention and concentration deficits related to chronic dizziness," as the neuro put it. Gets rid of the constant struggle to fix my eyes and brain on the world. Such a relief it was. It's an excellent medication for me even though I don't have ADD. Thanks for that explanation, Bob. I have no idea if MS has any effect on epinephrine and norepinephrine, but I can't imagine how.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar f tn In local anesthetics (like those used in dentistry), it's the epinephrine that's mixed in with the anesthetic that causes the problems for most patients with dysautonomia. There are local anesthetic formulations available without epinephrine, they just last for shorter periods of time and may require higher doses for efficacy.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar f tn how stress can manipulate the heart and causing to get more frequently s.v.t. thanks !
Avatar f tn I had a very deep cavity filled on my upper right last tooth (#2) last week and after was having serious jaw/overall mouth pain/headache. It slowly got a little better each day. Then I went back on Tuesday to have my crown replaced on my lower right tooth 2nd to last (same side). I told the dentist about my pain and he said I might need a root canal so he prescribed me some pain meds and antibiotics if the pain continues.
Avatar n tn I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
Avatar f tn They are suppose to strip my membranes how does that work? Does it hurt.
Avatar f tn m wondering if anyone can point me to a thread where it explains exactly how one starts on suboxone, how it works, and how long you are on it for? Any info would be so greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
