Avatar f tn (potassium Citrate) The citric acid helps kill bacteria in your kidneys, helping flush it out of your system. Crystal Light is the best for that. I have a history of kidney stones and the bacteria from UTI's causes my stones. My urologist told me Crystal Light lemonade, or real lemonade and citrus fruits help with urinary tract. Drink a ton of water to dilute your urine as well. this will help with keeping the pain down and also from it smelling because of the antibiotics. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I've been taking Ciprofloxacin for about a week. On tuesday I went to the gym for the first time in a while, and for the past few days my shoulder muscles have been sore. I saw on the instructions with my medicine that there's a risk of tendonitis while taking Ciprofloxacin, is this something I should be worried about? I wouldn't have exercised that much if I had known. The soreness has been getting steadily better.
Avatar m tn I had a test recently and Staphylococcus SPP was found in my semen moderately after 24hrs incubation. I've treated with Ciprofloxacin and Erythromycin respectively to no avail. It's killing my sperm count and am very worried. What can I do?
Avatar f tn Mary, the prevacid will not kill off the bacteria. Your doc is not correctly handling the bacterial problem - if that problem is indeed H. pylori. He's going against the currently recommended treatment for the problem and he may be unfortunately prolonging your discomfort. Stomach issues such as reflux, GERD, etc., are hard enough to handle, so he's not doing you any favors.
Avatar m tn I was prescriped Ciprofloxacin when a urine test showed mucos and many bacteria. After two 500 mg i develpoed hives. How do I treat the hives and will they cause additional side affects?
Avatar n tn Get in to see your doctor as soon as you can and get started on some antibiotics, which will cure this very quickly. Until you see your doctor, drink as much water as you can to help flush the bacteria out. UTI's can be incredibly uncomfortable but they are very, very common. Most women have quite a few over their lifetimes and they are nothing to worry about.......but they DO need to be treated!
Avatar m tn The dentist can prescribe based upon his clinical judgement but generally, clindamycin is prescribed at 150 to 300mg every 6 hours, with 300mg being a stronger dosage to kill bacteria. He may be concerned with some side effects of the antibiotics.
Avatar f tn As in, not how long should you abstain, but how long does it take to actually kill the bacteria? And what is the range for people of varying metabolisms? Question 2 is - is the dead bacteria in your system that is being flushed out contagious?
Avatar m tn Then on the 2nd of January 2012, i went to the GP, and the doc gave me ciprofloxacin, says it might be bacteria.. then Asked me to do a stool sample, and i did, it was clear(no bacteria in stool) But My diarrhea stopped around 2 weeks... I went back to see the doctor, he said Your gut takes time to settle (might take weeks or months) He gave me buscopan... i took for 3 days but to no effect, then i reached out to my gastro specialist back home, he told me why buscopan?
Avatar f tn I have the worst taste in my mouth. First, it started off as a metallic/copperish taste. Now, it's progressing to a soapy taste. No matter how much I drink, brush my teeth, or rinse my mouth out with soap, I still have this awful taste. I went to the dentist today and he said everything was fine... no gingivitis, irritation, etc. Nothing. The only thing I can think of is I took an antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) for a sinus infection weeks ago. Other than that, nothing.
Avatar f tn Getting sick more often? Fungal infections? I ask because this is a risk of taking antibiotics -- they not only kill of harmful things, they also kill of the things that protect us from illness and make our digestive systems function properly. Might be the problem. Might not be.
Avatar f tn After 10 days of an antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) I felt better but the bleeding started again. Am now back on 10 more days of same antibiotic but this time am having lower pelvic pain amd discomfort. Could this be something other than a UTI? Urine culture showed a bacterial infection. Is it common for this to take 1 or 2 courses of antibiotics to clear up?
408999 tn?1302203989 In the same day I have the result of the blood and the urine from the laboratory and I report it to him he told me that the blood is normal but in the urine result the pus cell it was 25-30/hpf so he give me prescription a ciprofloxacin 500mg for seven days two times a day and doxycycline 100mg for 6 days. Avatar f tn Was the yogurt enriched with probiotics? Antibiotics help us but also kill off the good bacteria in our intestinal tract. It sounds also like you need a stool softener, fiber and lots of water. If these things don't help, I would see a Gastroeneterologist for an evaluation. Take care...
Avatar n tn Hi doctors governments and the multi billion dollar pharmicutical indusrtry will never discourage the public not to take meds as they will lose profit regardless of the side affects.
Avatar n tn The pain is so mild that I have to think about it for me to notice it, or I have rub my testicles to notice it. By no means are they tender to touch! How long does it take Cipro to work? Do I even need to be taking Cipro? I am just curious.
Avatar f tn I agree it sounds like a yeast infection. Antibiotics often cause yeast infections, because they kill off beneficial bacteria in your vaginal tract. When you're healthy, yeasts and bacterias in your vaginal tract (called "flora") keep each other in check. When you're on strong antibiotics for a UTI it wipes out all the helpful bacteria and the yeast take over. Tell your doc and they will prescribe something for yeast.
