How does budesonide work

Common Questions and Answers about How does budesonide work

Avatar_f_tn Does the dr. give you Budesonide when your having a flare up or do you take it like Asacol on a regular basis to control Crohn's? I'm so afraid to take prednisone again, I didn't like how I had so many side effect with it. I have been hearing a lot about Methotextrate (thats what you meant by mtx, right?) All the things I have heard are good. Q: Do you take mtx on a reg. basis? From what it sounds like you do but just checking. Q: Do you have any side effects from mtx?
5247698_tn?1374543860 I am scared of letting my doc know because I don`t want to be taken off the program after all this work. She knows that I`m having trouble but not the severity. Please, if you can, tell me something encouraging or offer advise. Thanks - this board is great.
Avatar_f_tn I have seen a docter 3 times already but because of a lack of language ( understanding ) they can't tell me what's wrong and their medicine doesn't work either. I am coughing intensly and my chest is almost always hurting. It starts with a pricking sensation in my throat and then the coughing starts. It is so intense that I sometimes throw up because of it. Cough syrup has little effect. They gave me the following drugs: Benzonatate cap/ Bensau 100mg/cap.
Avatar_f_tn after reading the budesonide thread, i found that they are the same med.. and that it does not work on upper large colon so since he says the crohns has affected both large and small it seems like a waste to take this med anyway. i started taking acidophilus (spchk) and eating soft food only. hopefully this makes a change for the better so i dont ahve to get on the horsepills. thanks for responding.
284558_tn?1225610592 hi take albuterol and in my breathing machine and my doc gave me symbicort but i havent taken it yet how does it work after u take it..i also have anxiety to so when my anxiety kicks in my asthma does to i take my meds like i should and some times if i stay in the house i have to stay in front of the fan are in col air. i am going to write all theis down and talk with the doc and see what she can do.
Avatar_m_tn If you got your doctors notes does it include your lab work? CRP, sed rate, ESR... Any of them not in the normal range? I've heard of IBS turning out to be Crohns or Crohns and UC being switched, but never bring "down-graded". I have IBS on top of my Crohns which is possible. Honestly, I'd take all those records and get a new GI doctor or at least a second opinion. Also, have you been checked for celiac disease?
Avatar_n_tn I'm very interested in going to Canada to get this drug and see if it does work in preventing the outbreak of my internal allergic reactions caused by eosinophilic gastroenteritis. However, I forgot the name of the drug and what would I have to do (besides go to Canada) to get the drug? Please help!!!!!! Dear John, I believe you are referring to a steroid medication such as budesonide that is completely metabolized on first pass through the liver. This decreases the possibility of side effects.
Avatar_n_tn Is it OK to refuse treatment with Budesonide, because I work with close contact with infectious patients? Should I seek treatment for the vaginal ulcer with the GI or Gyne since I know it might be related to Crohns. I am Asian. No family history whatsoever. I don't drink alcohol, but I smoke. My past medical history includes Dengue Fever with platelet transfusion and 3 childbirths. Chronic constipation is my only significant past medical history.
Avatar_n_tn She would like to know any side effects that others have experienced taking this medication. Does anyone have any thoughts as to how long she might be on the Prednisone medication? Her ast level was 451, alt level was 471, as of April 16th. She just started the prednisone. She's been on it for 2 days. Any comments or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar_f_tn If you haven't been seen by a pulmonologist, you may benefit by seeing one - they would be better able to decipher if you do have asthma and how best to treat it. To me, it does sound like you're having asthma attacks. It also sounds to me like your attacks are definitely allergy related, so getting your allergies under good control would probably make a big difference in your breathing issues. Have you ever seen an allergist?
Avatar_n_tn If it is Chronic and on-going how long till emphysema (Now non smoker with a good excersize regime + balanced diet) Why does Sybicort 200(Formoterol and Budesonide)make me feel tight chested unable to breathe and Symbicort 100 makes me a little better but not 100%, should I be on something else? Do you feel the Bueytko method is an option I'm worried...its a lonley station!!
Avatar_f_tn ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My 12+ year old Siberian Husky is sick. Is there some virus or some other health problems that my Veterinarian and I haven't thought of? One evening, my dog's stomach started gurgling so loud you could hear it from one end of the house to the other. And it went on for like an hour. It was crazy.
Avatar_f_tn I currently keep my Crohn's under control with weekly injections of 25 mg methotrexate, daily folic acid and 5 mg daily of the steroid Budesonide, which does not have the serious side effects of prednisolone as it is only metabolised in the small intestine, not the liver. My own experience has been with numerous gastroenterologists as I have moved around a lot with my and my husband's careers, and have never been advised to consult a "holistic" doctor.
Avatar_n_tn , but the advice my doctors have always given me (and at one time I was being treated by the European specialist in Crohn's - since decamped to New Zealand, but I have an exceptional one now -youngish, early 40's who is passionate about IBD and does his research) - is that diet alone, no matter how healthy, (probiotic, macrobiotic etc.) will not keep the disease in remission, if indeed your son has the intractable kind I have.
Avatar_n_tn At that time her x-rays were completely clear. She has been getting worse. Yesterday her blood work came back from Monday and everything was fine. After the x-rays the vet did a CBC to check for infection and a high white blood cell count. She said she saw 3 small suspicious areas on the x-rays too in her chest but not in her lungs. Her heart is also normal. She is on the Methamazole cream that goes on her ears twice a day...alternating ears for hyperthyroidism.
173119_tn?1297003336 How are you and your daughter **** now? My best friend is suffering from what I suspect to be chromes disease, she is in much pain and lived in KY where she got terrible care and diagnosis changed every time she say a different doctor. Her brother died, my best friend, 2 years ago from a massive heart attack, but the year before that he had become emaciated and had much problems in the toilet area.
Avatar_f_tn She is taking a drug call Budesonide right now for IBD. It keeps her eating without her getting sick and throwing up. She also does not seem to need her inhaler as much. Your cat may just need to take the Pren for a little while longer until the inflammation clears up completely. I tried cutting my cat back and she lost weight and threw up--so she has to stay on the original prescription or she will do exactly what yours is doing.
3177469_tn?1344457868 Sorry, I wasn't sure how much you knew. I hope the few days you took the Incivek do not matter. Boceprevir has its share of sides but from what I have learned here on the forum they are not the same sides as the Incivek. At least not with the nausea & the fat requirement. I do not think you will react the same. It is good you have the Procrit lined up.
Avatar_f_tn Hi, How is your brother? Does he have history of allergies? Sinus Headaches may present with gnawing pain over nasal area, often increasing in severity throughout day. This can be due to an acute infection, usually with blockage of sinus ducts that prevent normal drainage ( hence, pressure). Migraine and cluster headaches are often misdiagnosed as sinus in origin. Further evaluation may be done to rule out infection, nasal polyps, anatomical deformities, such as a deviated septum.
Avatar_f_tn I believe many Bengals have a senstivive to fish, the pet store I work at has had a couple of litters that all were senstitive. Since she was fine on chicken and turkey, stay with food that doesn't have anything else. natural balance ultra has duck, turkey, chicken, and salmon in it. However, because of the blood I would also vet check and do blood tests if necessary to check for other things.
1560663_tn?1298050127 I don't know how it works on a dog but if your vet says no ask another vet. I don't know what dose you would give a dog but I'm sure it would be fine for them if it's ok for a cat. I just don't know for sure about giving it to a dog. It has been a life saver, literally. If I miss giving it to him even once his stool will begin to harden and they are huge. I can't imagine passing a stool as big as he has had to so don't miss a dose.
Avatar_n_tn What does the lotion "Lubriderm" contain that would cause an allergic reaction- redness swelling of hands & face- even palms? I am confident that this was from the Lubriderm as I wiped off an excess of the lotion on the side of my cheek and my cheek was red and swelling. My hands were worse as I had applied double the lotion when I started to itch -I thought it dryness due to the cold.
Avatar_m_tn The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush (by friggy) removes infected mucus from every part of your sinuses, which Mayo Clinic research shows is the cure for sinusitis, rather than treating sinus tissue with antibiotics. Regular saline irrigation does not work in the upper sinuses, because of gravity, but the Sinus Flush defeats gravity. It is effective with bacterial and viral infections, and some but not all fungal infections. The Flip-Turn is the original, and still the best Sinus Flush. WARNING!
Avatar_m_tn Some people say it does help, might as well try it, maybe you'll be one of the ones it does work on, but i wasn't so lucky. What is Budesonide? I haven't tried that one yet. I can totally relate to you. I am going in next week for a ct scan of my throat, I've had tons of other tests done and they can't find anything but reflux. None of the meds for that has worked. Just curious, do you have a dog or cat?
Avatar_f_tn htm My one cat was found to have this during recent xrays but he's alot younger and its only just started, apparantly is a very painful condition when it becomes worse...hope its not the case, just a suggestion. let us know how Mitzi does ok....
902019_tn?1249865014 Well they just called, and it's AIP. My IGg4 was slightly elevated, and I couldn't understand what the biopsy revealed something with lympho*something or other* that had to do with my white blood cells. It's not cancer, so that's a relief!haha They are starting me on steriods, low dose, will pick up the script tomorrow.
Avatar_n_tn To the guy who mentioned the 'Ecstasyremedy' I don't doubt you, but I'm not brave enough to take it, not being one to want to touch illegal drugs at all - they trained me well at school and scared me senseless. Since Ecstasy seems to work, does this mean we're run down or have a chemical deficiency? Hey doctors out anyone investigating this? I don't want to hear about pollen and allergies, this is different.
Avatar_f_tn That's funny how different people describe the smell. I never thought about it, but you're right- it is a rubber like smell too. Thanks for the reply. I'm still going to call my doctor tomorrow, but you've made me feel better.
Avatar_n_tn I am a school teacher, and have not worked since May 31, so my stress level is lower now than it ever is. Does anyone have any answers here? It seems like an aweful lot of us are out here suffering the same symptoms in silence. I do have to say that it is comforting (in a strange way!) to know that there are others out there, though, and that I am not dying or anything (I hope!~) Please comment if you know of anything that can be done about this besides asthma treatments and yoga.
Avatar_n_tn If I come up with any other explination I will let you all know. I did hear that B12 does work. I had my blood work done complete and all came back normal as well. I will post with any other findings that I have and I encourage the rest of you to do the same so we all give each other hope and some assurance that we don't have some crazy bad disease. BTW I am 27.... if that matters.
