107366 tn?1305680375 Yup, joint pain is a very common complaint with aromatase inhibitors. I'm taking Arimidex and commiserate with Rusty, in fact that's how if feel in the morning ... rusty! I was on Arimidex for 6 weeks when I found out I needed chemo. The joint pain was very minimal and I already had some osteoarthritis. However after the chemo (4 cycles TC) I resumed the Arimidex and the joint pain has been much more marked.
746377 tn?1263180080 I had a lumpectomy, radiation and now Arimidex. How likely is this tumour with no vessel or nodal invasion present, onco type dx score in low recurrence, to metastasis?
Avatar f tn I do not want to do chemo and radiation but am very willing to do arimidex i am post menopausal 53 yrs old. If arimidex does the job it says why do chemo? Radiation? I have been out of work and my life disrupted for a month and am already loosing everything due to financial stress 6 more months of treatment with chemo and work disruption i fear will ruin me. What are my chances with just arimidex treatment? PET scan shows negative to any cancer anywhere else.
Avatar f tn Has cancer reoccurred in patients while they have been on arimidex, not due to the drug, but due to the cancer. In other words, does taking arimidex prevent cancer from reoccurring while a patient is on it?
Avatar f tn Thank you! How nice that you have done so well!
Avatar m tn After seeing an endocrinologist who ran all types of blood work which came back normal with the exception of his estrogen level a bit higher then normal and had an X-ray of his hand which showed bones of a 13 half to 14 half yr old (I was told was good ) want to give my son arimidex. My question is......is this safe for teen boys. I read its not FDA approved for children.
Avatar n tn Does Arimidex have to actually kill you vs. maiming you for life, in order to be pulled off the market? At 58, I may need a hip replacement because I took Arimidex for two years! Avatar f tn My friend has been taking Arimidex for two years and has all the usual side effects--hot flashes, muscle aches, lack of sleep but, in spite of all her exercising and walking and careful eating, all of the weight gain has been in her stomach and she is at a loss of what to do to lose it. Nothing seems to work and she's very unhappy with that particular location? Anyone else know of weight gain from the drug at that spot specifically?
Avatar f tn My Son has bone age of 14.6 and just started arimidex to delay growth plate fusion. How long can arimidex delay fusion?
Avatar f tn I had an ooferectomy almost 2 weeks ago as a precaution, as my mother died of ovarian cancer at the age of 59. I felt great until I started Arimidex on Tuesday, and now I feel horrible. I feel constantly tired and weak and my mind is not alert, I'm having trouble focusing on simple puzzles. I've also been emotionally fragile since Tuesday, crying or on the verge of crying. Will this pass?
Avatar m tn Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
Avatar n tn The fatigue comes shortly after I start a project. Because of the hot flashes I get little sleep some nights but does the arimidex also cause fatigue? Is a side effect of hercepton fatigue (taken in 09,,,,?
Avatar n tn I am thinking of adding a supplement with the arimidex (broccoli seed extract - a natural aromatase inhibitor) and monitoring estradiol/estrone with blood tests after starting the supplement. If there were a negative interaction between the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract, how accurate would the blood test's estrogen results be?
Avatar n tn I learned that some weman experienced elevated blood pressure and blood clots while on Arimidex. And Arimidex is known to cause high blood pressure and blood clots. How do know for sure that Arimidex is the cause of my high blood pressure?

Avatar f tn Expander could not be put back in so 1 breast has expander and the other nothing. I will have reconstructive surgery April 2014. I started arimidex December 2013 I have experienced hot flashes which I'm used too. I take a organic bone support supplement. I've been in physical therapy since October 2013 which has helped me tremendously. Now after two months on Arimidex I am experiencing vaginal dryness that is quickly getting worse.
Avatar f tn Each person reacts differently to certain medications and if you see that the Arimidex does give you too many problems, your oncologist can prescribe another one that will suit you better.I think we all prefer to do without all these anti estrogen pills, but personally I would be too afraid to stop taking it and run the risk of recurrence.I had only one little tumor that was invasive and estrogen receptive and I was reluctant to start Arimidex too...
Avatar n tn ve recently started Arimidex 5 days ago and again noticed dry eyes and my vision does not seem as clear once again. I have to believe that it's the Arimidex and Tamoxifin.
Avatar n tn The itching is terrible, I went off of it twice now and tried to restart it again with the same results. I also found out that the manufacturer does not make a non generic form of this drug, would Arimedex be better for me and what are some of the side effects.
Avatar f tn Dr. Goodman, Thanks for your response re Arimidex. You asked if I have discussed RFA with my doctor. Yes, she said it's an option if the Arimidex doesn't work, which we won't know for 3 months (next PET scan). 1. If the Arimidex doesnt' work is it possible that in 3 months the 1 cm lesion on the liver will be too large to do RFA? 2. I've been on the Armidex for 3 weeks. I had no side effects the first 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn I am opting for the Arimidex for a month and see how my ca125 trends... and besides it gives me a month off of chemo... which i can use. Thanks for your comments ...
Avatar f tn So you are not taking Tamoxifen at all ? How long do you have to be on Arimidex ? Isn't 5 years too long with all the side-effects ? Do you take any calcium or vitamins ? Thanks for your answer, Have a nice day.
Avatar f tn ve completed 4 cycles of Taxotere and Cytoxan. I have been on Arimidex for 4 months. What might be my chances of a distant metastasis? I have pre-osteopenia per a bone density. My oncologist said I might consider Zometa infusions which would be given every 6 months. Does it only help prevent bone metastasis or other mets as well? I know the research is still out on this but an early study indicated a greater than 30% reduction in risk of bone mets. That seems substantial.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, After 3 months of Femara I suddenly developed carpel tunnel syndrome. My entire right arm became numb in the middle of the night; I thought I was having a stroke or heart attack. I called Novartis & they sent me the requested 9 pages of info about musculoskeletal side effects, the most common being carpel tunnel & trigger finger. I saw a hand specialist who provided hand braces and said I would eventually need the surgery.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any experience of stopping Arimidex and getting a different med that does not have the side effect of bone pain? I had two fractures in both feet last year and am concerned about osteoporosis (I am considered osteopenic at present) and particularly a hip fracture, so do want to continue with the Fosamax if possible. Many thanks for any advice/help. Liz, in Cornwall, England.
Avatar n tn I am not sure what causes you to post this message. Is there a particular reason why when taking Arimidex, one needs to lose weight and eat 12.000 calories? I know many women who wish they were thinner and would like to lose weight, but that does not mean it must to be done and can be achieved by all. yes, I am sure on 1200 calories a day and with exercise anyone can lose weight, but not everyone can follow these rules, with or without taking Arimidex.
Avatar n tn Well, for me Arimidex was so very horrible, I barely lasted three days on it. I was in an almost catatonic state of depression two hours after I took the first dose, and then got just about every other bad side effect soon after. Femara, in comparison, relative to the other, was not so bad at all and I lasted almost thirty days. But not every woman has the same problems, or any at all. Many though do have some problems.
