alcohol

Avatar n tn My friend died of alcohol poisoning with a BAC of 0.70 does this not seem extremely high, is this possible?
Avatar m tn Think of it as getting lucky this time. There are only so many times you can drink until you have alcohol poisoning without some permanent damage to your liver. Take it from someone that knows. Diagnosed 03-23-10 end stage cirrhosis.
Avatar n tn Hello, Are the tremors present at rest or do they occur when you are moving your hand and disappear at rest? Sometimes postural tremors may occur when you are holding your hand or affected body part in a particular position for a period of time. Causes of headache and tremors are stress, anxiety and panic attacks, too much consumption of caffeine or alcohol, low blood sugar(hypoglycemia),autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis, thyroid disorders, cerebellar dysfunction and liver disease.
Avatar m tn t urinate for some reason except once after I started drinking (and I just found out every time you urinate 10% of it leaves your body) and I drank on an empty stomach. Is that enough that I got a small case of alcohol poisoning? I woke up puking everywhere which I never do unless I'm REALLY sick and I was shivering even though my family member says it was hot in here and I don't get cold easily on top of that and I was confused and other unpleasant things.
Avatar n tn t get all of what she said, but I understood that I had been diagnosed with acute alcohol intoxication (alcohol poisoning), that I spent the night in a vodka-induced coma and that I could've died. I think she said my blood alcohol content was 500 or .50. They kept me under observation all afternoon, tested my urine, and I had to call my parents to pick me up. After that, I had the most awful hangover for a week.
Avatar m tn Sounds like a bad reaction with another drug you had in your system at the time. 6 oz of beer is not enough to do anything. You symptoms are indicative of another problem and you should see a medical professional.
Avatar m tn hi. it would depend on how fast it was consumed and how well her body metabolizes the alcohol. a persons tolerance can increase through repeated abuses, but in general that type of drinking indicates an increased potential risk of developing full blown alcoholism in addition to acute alcohol poisoning. to answer your question, yes, that could be at worst fatal, and at best a prelude to disaster.

Avatar n tn you go to hospital the tell you you have alcohol poisoning then leave next you can sto p throwing up you are 66 years old how do you help aperson from dead the drink 8 gallons of moonshine in 8 days 1 gallon aday help for a friend.in the hill of ky.
Avatar m tn The reason i'm writing is because after the bad experience at the hospital of being told he is a bad drunk, needs to sober up and stop drinking so much without doing a thorough diagnosis or listening to us explain the situation, he does not want to go back to a doctor unless the symptoms could suggest something serious. one friend hinted at Lymes Disease as a possible cause but usually that causes nausea, not 1 hour of normal behavior then insta-black-out drunk and loss of memory.
Avatar n tn I just found out that I am pregnant! Woo hoo! I am wondering how you guys turn down alcohol in front of family and friends? I will be going to a big weekend wedding that will last 3 days and interested in tips how to navigate that without raising eye brows. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I drank one of his alcoholic beverages. It has been a year since I drank it. The drink he made contains %40-45 of alcohol and I drank approximately 400-500 ml of it. I didn't feel bad that night except being drunk. I slept well and even though I have headache too often, I didn't even suffer from headache that day. The thing that I am worried about, is it possible that the alcohol I drank can be methanol and I survived it?
Avatar n tn If someone has a blood alcohol level of 4.5%, does this mean that they are intoxicated?
Avatar n tn Even a possibility to alcohol poisoning! Not worth taking the risk again by drinking alcohol for any reason (: Best wishes.
Avatar f tn Prolonged stress of any kind (your mother must be in because of so many problems), sleep deprivation (again a possibility with her), brain damage (due to methyl alcohol poisoning) are the other contributing features in your mother’s case. She needs a psychiatric evaluation along with these causes being ruled out. Discuss with her doctors whether sleep therapy and attempt at distressing her will help. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn So did they treat you for alcohol poisoning? What was your blood alcohol level?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 24 year old female from the UK. I drank once or twice a week socially up until about 3 months ago. I went out one night, had around 5 vodka and cokes. Went home and couldn't sleep. Around 3 hours after my last drink, I was wide awake with stomach pains, diarrhoea, nausea and my whole body was shaking uncontrollalbly. Right before it happens my hands and feet and then my whole body go extremely cold.
Avatar f tn t sound like food poisoning. Food poisoning is from contaminated foods - usually raw foods like pico de gallo or chopped salads. Or meats that have been improperly cooked or have been placed back on the platter where they were stored when raw. It can also occur if you're browning meat and are using a slotted utensil throughout the process where raw pieces of the meat are stuck in the slots of the utensil and are reintroduced into the cooked meat.
Avatar m tn My sister gets that. I have never heard her say that sunblock makes any difference -- in her case anyway, it seems to be from the heat on the skin. Talk to your doctor. In the meantime, wear sleeves and a hat.
Avatar f tn I remember throwing up and then passing out again. I slept for 8 hour. I read that alcohol poisoning can cause dehydration, leading to low blood pressure and low supply of oxygen to the brain. Also, that alcohol in high doses can slow your breathing, also causing inadequate supply of oxygen to the brain. Did I suffer alcohol poisoning? What are the chances that I my brain starved of oxygen while I was passed out? It’s possible that I suffered some kink of brain damage from this single episode?
Avatar m tn I'm not real sure if this is where I should post this but my boyfriend went out last night and drank about 15 beers and said he had 1 1/2 liquor drinks on top of that. Normally each night he consumes about 6 or more beers a night. On a few occasions his body gets splotchy - chest & head only - and has a very hard time breathing - about to pass out - and gets chills. He has gone to the emergency room many times for this but no one seems to know what it is.
