Avatar m tn Hi,i am just wondering,i do know that medications do sometimes work for some sufferes, but from so many point of views, the medical doctors that i have visited so far, they refused to prescribe xanax, benzo and other anti anxiety medications, because they believed medications do nothing on anxiety, they told me that anxiety should not be label as an DISORDER because its not an illness, thats they recommended CBT to overcame Panic disorder etc.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been on anti depressent for 25-30 years? What about anxiety medicine? Has anyone ever tried to get off of these drugs after that long, by their self?

Avatar f tn ve learned it all passes no matter what in my PERSONAL experience. With or without drugs... anxiety passes. I personally think drugs make things worse for some people, like myself. That's why I'm staying clear and just doing talk therapy. Talk therapy has taught me a lot about UNDERSTANDING anxiety and how it works, and how the body works. It makes all my symptoms if I ever do go through anxiety, feel like they are nothing but just sensations. They can't harm me..
Avatar m tn A lot of times they will give you a short term course of an anti-anxiety medication, like Xanax, or Ativan, to help you tolerate the increased anxiousness. It DOES really get better for the vast majority of people who stick it out. I think a lot of your anxiety is related to being fearful of the medication versus actual side effects.
Avatar m tn s why they do the trials. However, the drugs generally outperform placebo by enough of a percentage to get approval, and placebo effects generally wear off while drugs keep working. Some people also get worse side effects from placebo than from the real drug, just showing how complex the human brain is. Opiates would be a bad choice for depression, as they cause depression in many people because they're a downer drug. Benzos can do the same thing if you take them too often.
Avatar f tn Have you tried focused slow breathing, walking, aromatherapy, acupuncture, massage, redirect by doing something? Also...low Vitamin D3 and magnesium can contribute to anxiety and depression.
1187071 tn?1279369698 I have a question for those of you that can't take Anti-inflammatory drugs, my nerve dr wanted me to try them when I first started seeing him, it started with Nap and don't remember the rest and my knee is hurting so I don't want to get up lol Anyway I tried to take them for 3 days and they KILLED my stomache. It hurt so bad after taking them I just prayed it would stop. Is this why some can't take them?

3183328 tn?1351183517 What works for one person may not work for another. Anxiety medication is a tool, not the solution. It can be a helpful tool, but ultimately this is yours to conquer, and there's no right or wrong selection across the board.
Avatar n tn Do you have conclusive FACTS on your information? Your reading Prozacs website. lol Read them a little better and you will see "it is THOUGHT" a awful lot, what you wont see is "It is proven". From the science journals, taking physc. classes for 4 years, and some other stuff, generally A.
Avatar n tn First off Mik, we are not doctors on this side of the forum. If you want to post to an MD, you need to click on the tab at the top of this page that says "Doctors." Buspirone will NOT make you look older. Sorry, but I just have to say this.........where the hell did you get a nutty idea like that? You are taking this med for anxiety, right? If you DON'T take it and walk around for weeks or months or years with what I call the "pinch faced" look of anxiety..........
Avatar n tn If your symptoms have improved then it would suggest that it is anxiety as anti dreppresants to not suppress an actual physical problem within your body.
Avatar f tn Every person reacts differently to these types of medications, and it is often trial and error as to what will work best for you. I do hope your meds are being prescribed by a psychiatrist and not your GP. Psychs are more knowlegeable with the medications. I don't understand why your doctor wants to automatically up your dosage without first seeing if the 20mg works for you? But it is common to be on these two types of drugs at one time.
1148619 tn?1332010984 Article in paper today about Hep C drugs coming out this summer!! Yeppie, I was told May by my doctor but summer will work. It was put out by Associated Press. "2/3 of Hep C sufferers are thought to be baby boomers. {Thats me}. Now major studies show that adding a new drug---either Telaprevir or Boceprevir can boost the cure rate as high as 75 percent. Some people will be able to cut tx time to 6 months.
20184324 tn?1499256445 While plants do have many potential side effects, so do all drugs, and plants are much much safer than drugs. Just compare the number of serious complaints reported to CDC. But I agree, if you don't know anything about a plant remedy, don't use it until you do your homework.
Avatar n tn Just throwing this out there, not trying to stir up anything if someone takes an anti psychotic for anxiety. If you do and it works.... great. But I take lorazepam occassionally, but am to the point where I need something daily. I understand the risks with benzos and my family doctor suggested a switch to Klonopin for daily use. I have seen some psychiatrists who freak out on the idea of daily benzo use, and suggest a small dose of an anti-psychotic instead.
Avatar n tn Is there any medical reason for routinely denying patients anti-anxiety drugs prior to stereotactic core needle biopsy? I thought it was somewhat barbaric to go through the experience with the kind of terror it seems to cause EVERYONE who's ever had it. My radiologist simply didn't "entertain" the idea of tranquilizers, yet I'm reading about other patients who benefitted from them. Are the doctors truly so unaware of the extraordinary level of stress for their patients?
684343 tn?1231430840 it is a anti-seizure drug.....also used for bipolar disorder....dilantin is another anti-seizure drug that is sometimes used for anxiety..it blocks nerve impulses and has a side effect of mild sedation so therefore helps anxiety..
Avatar f tn How long have you been on it
1664673 tn?1303042173 It can be arrested and recovery is possible. You will need to do the work and you will need support in order to do this. How long since you used?
Avatar f tn Hello, Depression and anxiety can cause sleep disorders and vice versa. Get an evaluation done by a psychiatrist and get prescribed antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
