Common Questions and Answers about How bad is adderall for your heart

adderall

Avatar n tn You really need to be in a healthcare facility for a monitored detox to make sure your heart is OK during the detox. The strain that this drug is placing on your heart is scary. You need to reach out to someone and get into some sort of program immediately. You're very close to overdosing on this drug and your body is telling you so. Is there someone you can reach out to?
Avatar f tn Ok, i have been on adderall xr 30 mg, once a day for a few years for my ADHD. The only bad part is that i have severe anxiety. I have been to so many doctors, and have taken every anti-depressant available, and buspar. None of them have prevented me from having panic attacks. It has just recently gotten very bad. Im so anxious all the time, my heart feels like it's going to beat out of my chest, i can't breathe, i can't swallow, and i feel like i am seriously about to die.
Avatar f tn Reason three is that you also have something like ADHD (which could be causing part of your anxiety). If this is true than adderall will affect you completely differently than someone without ADHD. By the way, you have been driving yourself nuts over this issue (and I can understand why). You really need to sit down and talk to your doctor and have him explain why he is doing what he is doing. What you should expect. How it affects your heart, etc.
Avatar m tn I don't know the specifics but you will feel tired and maybe have a little cognitive difficulties for a couple of weeks. I don't think you should worry too much. Just think how you felt on adderall and its just the opposite. It's not a terrible transition, but the temptation is great when your down. After a couple weeks you should be close to normal and functioning just as well but falling asleep earlier! Sufficient rest works great for memory retention also.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar f tn It could be do to stress and anxiety ,but you should know that some people who have taken ADDERALL have had it effect there Heart ,so you might want to get checked to make sure your Heart is OK,it can also cause a stroke along with other things.I have said this before. If you don't have ADD or ADHD Then why are you on ADDERALL?tHE adderall can make you more stress and have anxiety. good luck with everything.
Avatar n tn It sounds to me ( if your BMI is considered within ranges of normal) that Adderall is the direct cause for your inceased Bp and HR. I have had the same effect happen to me when I first began taking Adderall 3 weeks ago; I am a cross country runner in college and can identify with the exact same effects you were first having. My best recommendation is that (if at all possible) exercise in the morning prior to taking adderall.
Avatar m tn I want any advice or information from experienced members, who have succeeded in quitting w/long-term Adderall addiction. I'd been prescribed Adderall for the first time in 2000. My Doctor has steadily increased my dosages (up to 120mg daily) over the years. She has also experimented with various other alternatives (Ritalin, Dexedrine, Vyvance, etc) with mixed results. I don't feel that long term health effects; are justified by short term benefits (that I might not get).
Avatar f tn Adderall you can stop any time with no problem. Trazodone needs to be tapered off - "Your doctor should be recommending that you reduce your dosage by 50–100mg a day every 3–5 days if you need to stop taking trazodone." Trazodone is an anti-anxiety/depression med and helps a lot for sleeping at night. Adderall is a standard med for ADHD. You do want to see if the Adderall is wearing off too soon. Does he do better in morning classes then in the afternoon, etc.
Avatar f tn I do think your psyc is doing the right thing for you. Hopefully, he is also working with you on coping skills for your very stressful job. Best wishes - and do post back and let us know how things are going on. I am sure that you are not the only one who has or will go through this.
Avatar f tn adderall is just like speed ,so it make your heart beat fast.some people have had heart problems after being on adderall and some have had strokes and there have also been case where some have died a sudden death. there is also seizures as a side effect from these drugs. don't know what your doctor was thinking when he gave you the adderall and I would stay away from those drugs. try getting something that deals with stress and anxiety.
Avatar n tn Your welcome. The best thing you can do is get a good night sleep , take Vitamin B6 and Omega 3-6-9 and maybe even B12 just before you go to School every day . And stay away from the drugs even if your doctor whats to give you something. Don't take everything that say as being best for you, you have to look out for your self.
Avatar m tn About a few years ago, I had a really bad reaction to caffeine--heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure--over drinking a 20oz of Mountain Dew. I recently started taking Adderall for ADHD (was diagnosed since I was a child but could never swallow medication until early adulthood), and I thought it was really going to mess with my heart. Funny enough, I tolerate Adderall very well with a nominal increase in BP every so often.
Avatar f tn 5 pain pill gave you that panic attack or possible small heart attack. (hell I thought I had bad heartburn) I think something FOR SURE is going on. You've probably beat ur bony up at this point. I'm a recovering alcoholic. I'm no stranger to addiction. Dude, go to a doctor before its too late. They can help you out. I'm quite shocked how much better I feel since the heart attack. I had a stint put in and now I'm on the right meds.
Avatar n tn Then I was put on Adderall and from the start my heart went insane. Heart rate in the 160s for a two or three days just from one small dose and would have chest pain and shortness of breath. Everything I read online about my reaction was discussing people who were Adderall addicts and were taking massive amounts...
4451049 tn?1387153437 Only a radiologist is really certified to read your CT. Adderall will almost certainly have no effect, but you should call your doc.
Avatar n tn He told me that he olny does it one weekend out of the month and that it makes him feel normal. My question is how dangerous is it,even if he is only doing it two days out of the month? And, I don't know what to do for him,he is already in rehab for pot smoking.Should I just give up on him, since he doesn't want to save himself?
Avatar f tn t mind me asking why is it that you would need both Concerta and Adderall rather than just taking Adderall alone or looking into Ritalin? Your doc is right that together those drugs are very addictive and even though you aren't looking to abuse the drugs it does not matter a prolonged use of them causes an addictive dependency. It's important to realize that it may take time and trial and error in order to find the right drug to treat your ADD.
5717054 tn?1372958545 iv been on Valium forever it stops my paranoia some of my anxiety and insomnia and vertigo too much benzo has paradoxical effect. I just started Adderall 20mds XR First day was bad i figured cause my anxiety.
Avatar f tn But my cousin who is a pharmacy tech scolds me for taking the adderall and talks about how bad IT is for your body, nervous system, etc..so am i robbing peter to pay paul? i know vicodin is very bad for me, espcially for the length of time ive been taking it, but #1 half of the time i take the vicoprofin without the tylonol (not making excuses just stating facts) and now i am beginning to wonder what kind of trouble im getting myself into in beginning to take the adderall.
Avatar n tn I would be very careful, and work more closely with your doctor about what heart rate is the safe heart rate for you...I would also have you think re taking a lower dose if your heart rate at rest is already that high.
452191 tn?1208754863 I realize this was posted over a year ago, but I figured I should comment. I've been taking adderall for a few years and also have a very active eating disorder. I take the adderall for ADD. I've noticed that my resting heart rate is very high even though I'm only on 20 mg of XR. I used to be on way more. When I exercise, my heart rate shoots up to an average of 180-190 and above 190 I start to black out. I once got to 210, but was fainting at that point.
Avatar n tn I know this is kind of an off the wall question, but I would really appreciate any input you or your colleagues have on this issue and if I should continue taking adderall? Thank you for your time.
Avatar n tn t see how you can ascertain what, if any of this, is directly heart related without a cardiology consult -- and at your age, you have a lot of living left so being healthy seems like a great goal. Good luck!

990354 tn?1307132886 it is not safe for your sister to take the adderall ,as others have said addreall is just like speed and it has very bad side effects. if you look up the side effects for adderall you will see what can happen to your sister and her husband .it doesn't give you all of the side effects but does give you some of them.also tell your sister to look up if anyone has every died from taken adderall.don't mean to scare you.
