1315759 tn?1274044788 or the breathing treatments? at the hospital, they give me xopenex, which works ok, not really good for me. the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened. instead of getting better, it was staying the same and making me feel out of control. how can i get my doctor to prescribe me a pulse ox for at home?
Avatar f tn I have had seasonal allergies along with dust, cat and dog allergies too since 30 years ago. I finally had 5 years of allegy shot ending aroung 2005, This year has been so bad with all the pollen I feel like I'm right back to day one. My eyes are itchy, my nose runs and my palate is so itchy. I take Atrovent for post nasal drip, aerius for the allergies and I'm also on Advair 250 discuss. Why is this happening after all these years? Will it go away or am I supposed to get shots again.
Avatar f tn I'm no doctor, but it sounds to me like GERD (Gastroesophical Reflux Disorder). The acid coming back up into your throat irritates the lining of the esophagus thus causing the cough reflex. Or at least that's how I understand it. I suffer from this every time that I eat when my GERD is acting up (but not all the time). Good luck!
Avatar m tn It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlorpheniramine and loratadine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. Regards.
Avatar f tn I am taking atrovent for asthma and i was wondering if i should be spitting out phlem after i take a treatment or does it just break the phlem up and i spit it out whenever?
212161 tn?1599427282 Hello... I have asthma and take Flovent 2xday and used to take Combivent as needed. My Dr switched me from Combivent to Atrovent. With Atrovent, I find that it doesn't cause my heart to race as much as it did when using the Combivent.
Avatar f tn He prescribed me atrovent but from what I understand it is usually a substitute for ventolin not steroids. He directed me to take both atrovent and ventolin 2 times a day for a month but I don't really have a long term treatment plan. The doctor seemed a bit stumped as to what else to do. I am suffering from some symptoms almost all the time and regularly have fairly bad attacts. I am very glad to have the ventolin but I'm hoping to find long term treatment for the underlying problem.
Avatar m tn Please advise on my prognosis and how can i change my life style so that maybe i will have a better chance. How about the LVH? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes. I had already been discussing the changes with my doctor as my asthma had become much better controlled. I just pushed up the timeline on one and she made the other. God bless.
Avatar f tn Whoever diagnosed you should be able to tell you what stage you have or how severe it is. No one will be able to tell you over the internet how severe yours is based on a color or a name of an inhaler. COPD is usually linked to smoking. STOP IF YOU ALREADY HAVEN'T. Are you seeing a Pulmonologist for this? Definitely should be.
Avatar f tn This would eliminated the LABA which typically cause the jittery, rapid heart rate side effects people object to. Depending on how severe your asthma is or how reactive you are, you may be able to control your asthma with allergy medication (possible including shots) and an ocassionally use of your rescue inhaler. Hoping you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn Yes, Atrovent is ipratropium bromide is used for COPD. I use Duoneb which is a combination of albuterol and ipratropium. You are making me wonder if I can manage with ipratropium alone. I have never tried it. I will ask my lung doctor. I use a portable nebulizer. With that I can take as little as I need (or as much).
Avatar f tn I'd recommend seeing a Pulmonary Specialist as soon as you can. How long have you been taking steroid medication for your asthma? Which medications do you take, and at which doses? If you're a mild asthmatic, switching to a non-steroid preventative like Cromolyn or Nedodromil may work for you. Theophylline is another option either instead of, or in addition to one of the non-steroid preventatives.
Avatar f tn This is similar to what happened with my "Asthma". Started bad and was diagnosed and given advair - worked like a charm and was awesome. Then had a bad asthma spell because of my work (a pet store) moving and we had 25 years of dirt, fur and dust moving around the store as the shelvings were been moved plus a lot of cleaner fumes.
569676 tn?1315641158 Below is an article explaining how and why suboxone works. This was written by Dr. Richard Gracer and is very well written in understandable terms. How Buprenorphine Works Buprenorphine (Subutex) is an FDA approved drug that is used to treat opiate (narcotic) dependence and prevent its relapse, to decrease the withdrawal symptoms when getting off opiates and in some specific circumstances to treat chronic pain.
1528897 tn?1291833568 How can I protect myself from airbourne allergies that trigger my allergy attacts. I take alllery medicines but they make me feel icky and I don't want to wear a mask all day?
Avatar n tn It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlopheneramine and lovatidine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Any ideas on how to stop it or what it is causing? Ive tried allergy pills, all types of antihistamines but nothings working. Any ideas? Thanks.
Avatar n tn This would be a perfect question for the Ask A Pharmacist forum: http://www.medhelp.org/forum_disclaimers/show/296 Otherwise, contact your MD and let them know how much trouble you are having. I've been on certain inhalers that actually triggered bronchospasm, and maybe you are having the same problem. Do you have nut or soy allergies? Combivent should not be used by people with those allergies.
Avatar f tn The primary treatment is simply avoiding the things that trigger your symptoms. It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlopheneramine and lovatidine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Tremors are a result of imbalance dopamine in the body and usually medications such as levodopa or Anticholinergic drugs-such as Atropine, Atrovent, Oxivent, Spiriva, and Rubinol are used to treat them. Nicotine counteracts anticholinergic medications. If the tremors are alcohol related then detox is necessary to decrease them. I Hope This Helps. Good Luck and God Bless!
