Hormone weight gain depression

Common Questions and Answers about Hormone weight gain depression

hormone

Avatar f tn Toni is right - you don't gain weight from the med, you gain weight from your thyroid hormones being too low. Weight gain is a classic symptom of being hypo and many people are lucky enough for the weight to come off, once their thyroid is leveled out again. Some of us have to work hard at getting it off. I'm one of the latter. I find that maintaining portion control has as much to do with losing as what you're eating.
605458 tn?1539228808 My psychiatrist knows to NEVER prescribe something that is known to cause weight gain. I read that the Lupron Depot can cause weight gain. What about a hysterectomy? Will you gain weight too?

Avatar n tn You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn Have any of you had success with hormone replacement. The symptoms I mainly want to fix are fatigue, aches, erectile problems, weight gain, and the feeling of not being well. 1426120 tn?1283039272 Certain medications like antidepressants cause weight gain. Polycystic ovary too causes weight gain, hence has to be ruled out by an ultrasound of abdomen. If the above causes are eliminated then you can join a weight trainer and a nutrition expert and follow their advice and lose weight under their guidance. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar f tn So far due to morning sickness I have lost weight and I am down to 188lbs however I do understand that weight gain is a part of pregnancy, but it doesn't have to be feared. Just make sure you watch what you are eating and watch your weight gain during your pregnancy. I was given a limit of 15-20 lbs by my Dr and I am trying my hardest to stick to it. Remember that once baby is born you lose a lot instantly because of baby, amniotic fluid, and the placenta.

Avatar n tn At what point do you get concerned about weight gain? I feel completely ridiculous posting this. I'm 34. I've always been pretty active, not a marathon runner but active. I eat pretty good. We don't have any snack food at home since one of my kiddos eats all, I do have one can of pop a day but otherwise I eat pretty balanced. In Jan and early Feb I weighed 125. i was getting married and watching my weight closer than normal.
Avatar f tn I have since gained a good 20 lbs. I could stand to gain the weight so no problem there, it is the distribution of the weight gain that seems odd to me. Most the weight gain has been in my lower abdomen, lower back and buttocks. My buttocks have even developed cellulite which I know is uncommon in men. Do you think I have developed a hormone imbalance since quitting smoking cigarettes?
Avatar f tn Too much TSH indicates you have hypothyroidism or under active thyroid, producing too little thyroid hormone - common symptoms are weight gain, constipation, fatigue, depression, anxiety, muscle aches/pains, hair loss and can include rapid heart rate, palpitations,. The right amount of TSH usually causes no symptoms, but can be deceiving because normal TSH can be present with either/both too much/too little thyroid hormones and any or all of the symptoms of either.
Avatar f tn I struggle with my weight as it is and i have heard that with a total thyroidectomy and going on synthroid weight gain is an almost certainty. Can anyone shed light on this..I am considering a partial and if its cancer having it done again. Good or bad decision?
8210549 tn?1397032061 Symptoms of hypothyroidism are fatigue, depression, weight gain, cold intolerance, dry, coarse hair and skin, constipation ,muscle cramps, decreased concentration, vague aches and pains, menstrual disorders, palpitation and swelling of the legs. I feel that you should consult a physician and get yourself and your thyroid hormone levels evaluated. Other than that get your estrogen, progesterone and FSH levels checked as hormonal imbalance in menopause can also cause such symptoms.
327385 tn?1378360731 The ACTH and cortisol are non-diagnostic, so an adrenal-pituitary problem is not ruled out, but the symptoms of weight gain suggests against deficiency and the labs suggest against over-production of cortisol. With the headaches, would talk to your doctor about head imaging to make sure there is no recurrence or other problems.
Avatar f tn I'm a 41 yr. female and for the past 3 years my "normal" weight has gone up approximately 25lbs. In addition to my weight, I'm moody, more so than I believe is just my standard PMS as it seems to come & go all month, I never feel rested despite going to bed relatively early each night, and I suffer w/ insomnia requiring 1/2 an Ambien 4-5 nights per week. My previous MD has drawn 2 TSH levels (11/05 & 6/07) and I was told the results were "slightly" elevated.
Avatar f tn Sometimes Hashi patients can have unexplained weight loss when we get thyroid nodules that leak hormone. I would swing back and forth from weight loss to weight gain. Paranoia and anxiety to depression. Constipation to diarrhea. Shaky, jaw pain, eye pain, rashes, leg and foot cramping, brain fog, migraines. fatigue, heart palps, loud ringing or pounding in ears, dry skin, hair loss, GERD, heartburn, chest pain, arm pain, and many more issues!
560272 tn?1311350293 I've had depression/anxiety for 10 yrs now. I've been off and on Prozac (only drug I've ever tried). I was on 10mg-20mg Prozac for the last 2 years, until 6 weeks ago. I weaned myself off. This is the reasons why: I gained 40 pounds in 2 yrs on it, and I still had a great amount of depression and anxiety. And so far, I really haven't been worse off it, about the same. But I'm tired of the battle, the daily battle. I'm totally different now then what I used to be.
Avatar f tn I'm a Type 1 Diabetic and have been having issues with fatigue and weight gain for the past year. I've seen three dietitians and three personal trainers, all of which have put me on a rigorous plan only to not be successful. I used to think it was an insulin-related issue, but it is getting much worse. My doctor did blood work and found my TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) was 12.2.
624829 tn?1240755671 she hardly eats or over eats and skips breakfast...what could be the reason for this sudden weight gain ? do you recommend any specific test for her ? she used to be so slim and lovely. her weight is about 65 KGS. could it be thyroid or any gynaecological issue ? Avatar f tn so can anybody tell me if it is common to gain weight after hysterectomy or is that just depending on the medicine you're given for hormones
Avatar f tn Lab results and associated reference ranges vary from one lab to another. So to try and assess your status, we need you to post the reference ranges shown on the lab report for those test results. Since each person can have different thyroid hormone levels at which they feel normal, lab tests are not the best way to assess a person for the possibility of hypothyroidism. The presence of numerous symptoms typical of hypothyroidism is the best measure.
