Avatar f tn I would never recommend the depo shot. I was on it for a year and ever since ive had bad headaches and problems with my bones aching. It ***** the calcium out of your bones and I was always small (110-115 pounds) before I started it and it made me gain weight I was never able to keep off and stayed around 140 when before I could never even make myself gain weight. It totally messed up my body and periods and I bled for 2-3 weeks everytime I had to get the next shot.
Avatar f tn t know how old your daughter is, if she is overweight/normal weight, how long she has had PCOS and how bad the case is. Is she taking any medications or just vitamins?
Avatar f tn I was on the Nuvaring and after many different kinds of BC it was the one I loved. It's the only time my periods were regular but the hormone levels were perfect. I didn't gain weight or get moody. And stopping and starting my period was a piece of cake, not like when I was on the pill.

Avatar n tn Ok so i plan on going on birth control after i have my son. I just dnt know whats the rite one to go on because personally i never liked birth control. I had a really bad experience with the nuva ring and promised i wouldnt go on another birth control since. But that was like 3 or 4 years ago. Im just not trying to get pregnant again after i have my son and condoms dont always protect so just to be on the safe side. Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn The comment by your Dr. "Off the charts compared to normal" might mean you are sensitive to the levels of Thyroxin. The ER doctor must have seen you before, but does he communicate with your regular doctor or leave it up to you. Here, they are so overwhelmed, they never send information to the family Dr. My Dr. would have to request the info. and the patient has to sign a release form (normally done on admittance to the ER). Still, I've never know a doctor to do that. Not here.
1363590 tn?1277807077 Desiring to lose some undesireble weight I've been in a clinic where they sold me these ACD (pregnancy hormone) pills. (I'M NOT PREGNANT) The idea is: For a certain period I would go through a special diet rich in protein (no carbs) and meanwhile my body "thinking I'm pregnant" would start to get "food" from my body. Eating my fatness. So there I'd start to loose weight. My questions are: Is that safe? Would that somehow mess up my hormone system?
Avatar f tn Do you have symptoms besides weight gain? If so, please list them. Also, please post reference ranges for those test results, as shown on the lab report. Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is secreted by the pituitary in response to serum thyroid hormone levels. So you cannot control TSH directly. Also, symptoms result from the actual thyroid hormone levels, not TSH. Based on the levels you listed I suspect that your T4 and T3 tests were for Total T4 and Total T3.
Avatar m tn I have changed my doctor. My new doctor has told me that the thyroid hormone dosage is weight dependent. My initial dosage of 50 mcg was way too less for me. He also told me that some people lower absorption of thyroid hormone. Therefore I should take a 300 mcg dosage just before bedtime. The last thing I do before I go to sleep. So far I was taking this in early morning before I ate anything. He said it takes at least 6 weeks for changes to be observed.
Avatar f tn I started noticing that my hair was falling out (thinning), scalp burned, increased irritability, sleep disturbances, “hot flashes “and weight loss w/ increased appetite about year ago. These s/s started several months after changing birth control pills and would worsen closer to my menstrual cycle. I reported this to my GYN MD and he ordered a thyroid panel and ANA titer. My levels were abnormal in Jan & Feb. Jan. 2009: TSH 1.97, T3 Total: 201,T-3 uptake 23, T-4 Free 1.3,T-4 Total 17.

Avatar f tn I'm going to do birth control the one that goes into the arm because I always forget to take the pill every day
Avatar n tn s, oh, you are depressed, here is zoloft...more weight gain...sugar imbalance. hormone imbalance was the main issue not discovered until total hysterectomy. I then used more synthetic hrt and gained more weight...
Avatar f tn I am prepared for weight gain but just wanted to know that with some execuse I could control it. Everyone gains weight after any op I guess and especially if a lot was lost before. I was too ill beforehand to exercise so am looking forward to getting healthy. As I said, I read all of this doom and gloom but thought that there must be some improvement as I was so ill before.
Avatar f tn TSH is a pituitary hormone, that gets higher when the actual thyroid hormone levels get too low, or it decreases if the thyroid levels get too high. TSH can fluctuate for a variety of reasons. Not all labs use the new range for TSH, so even if you''re in the lab's normal range, it still might not be normal. Free T3 and Free T4 are the actual thyroid hormones, with Free T3 being the one the correlates with symptoms.
Avatar n tn Soy has estrogen like effects... have you tried drinking vanilla soymilk? You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn Omg. I feel the sake way what if when my kids all go to school later I want a baby. But then again I think about college that's going to be expensive for three kids as it is! The pill didn't work for me and I breast fed my boys but I ran out of milk both times and had to go to formula:( anyways.. I'm scared to do the mirana or the copper t BCUZ they have too many COMMON side effacts.
Avatar n tn Really depends on individual, from my experience after TT, hormone imbalance never affect my weight, my weight always stayed consistent. But for many others, weight can be an issue, some gaining to much, while others experience rapid weight loss. I know for a fact hormone imbalance can cause weight issues, but not sure the other way around.
Avatar f tn Hi! I understand your issues as I never get my period unless I use birth control. Pretty sure I have PCOS but haven't been diagnosed. I was put on birth control but gained so much weight (I was already having weight issues because of the hormone issues). I told my doctor I did not want to be on birth control anymore! She prescribed me progesterone to regulate my period instead. Every 3 months you take pills for 10 days and viola you get a period.
Avatar f tn Phephe, thank you for sharing. Without a doubt, your current weight plays a major factor in your menstrual cycle. Body fat produces estrogen, which is an important fertility hormone. However, too much estrogen from excess weight can keep you from ovulating regularly or from ovulating at all. This is most likely what you're experiencing.
