9633935 tn?1411342802 This did not the doctor think was something to worry about. How do I read the response/values and what should I look for? Where isthe limit values? What does 12 mean? How much does that values effekt my body? The doctor say something like: that was high and something else, i cant remember was maby litle to low an that was not good he sad. What was low? And what does that affekt?
Avatar n tn s not an easy question to answer since reference ranges for thyroid lab tests are very flawed. TSH is a pituitary hormone, and as such is a screening test at best for asymptomatic individuals. Typically, individuals who are hyper have TSH less-than 0.3, and hypos have TSH greater-than 3.0. However there are esoteric thyroid problems that don't conform to that rule and can actually reverse it. FT3 and FT4 are the actual thyroid hormones and a much more direct measure of thyroid status.
Avatar f tn I suspect that your pcp was looking only at TSH, which is a pituitary hormone, not a thyroid hormone and since yours is quite low in the range, he "assumed" that your thyroid levels were adequate. That said -- TSH stimulates the thyroid to produce hormones, and since yours is so low, your thyroid doesn't know it's supposed to produce hormones, so you could have a pituitary issues, rather than thyroid. This would be something to talk with the endo about.
Avatar f tn The high testosterone could be causing the facial hair. Too much male hormone. Is there a decimal point missing in the TSH? Is it 1.97? Do you have a ref. range for bun/creat? A BUN/Creatinine ratio can help your health professional predict which conditions, such as dehydration, may be causing abnormal BUN and Creatinine levels and decreased kidney function. As for the normal values it depends on the age. For infants younger than 1 year the BUN/Creatinine ratio normally reaches up to 1:30.
Avatar m tn As a non-American - what is the accepted present range of normal TSH-values in untreated patients? And - what is accepted as a non-pathological level for anti-TPO?
Avatar f tn ) during the time of testing, that is, unless you did acute aerobic exercise just before testing or couple hours after exercise. Effects of exercise on circulating thyroid hormone values remain controversial among medicals. Although, conclusions of one study showed that the effect of acute aerobic exercise on thyroid hormone values greatly affects the level of circulating thyroid hormones. gov/pubmed.
Avatar n tn I would like to know the normal values for TSH tests. Mine was 4.69 ---- should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn For definitive (meaning curative, for those men with prostate confined disease) interventions, then the desired post-op or post radiation values would be undetectable. If the values are still detectable, then it may represent failure of the intervention. Or it may mean metastatic disease that was not found before the intervention. Hence, the surgery on your husband didn’t seem to control the disease. A controversial issue is the use of hormones for failure when there are no symptoms at all.
Avatar m tn It's not unusual for TSH to fluctuate, since there are a variety of things that affect it. Both of your TSH values indicate hypothyroidism, but what's more important are your Free T4 and Free T3 values. Please post those, along with the reference ranges from your lab report. Are you, currently, taking a replacement thyroid hormone? If so, which medication, what dosage and how long have you been on it?
Avatar f tn Those are much more important than TSH, which is actually a pituitary hormone, not a thyroid hormone. Please post your FT3 and FT4 levels, with reference ranges, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.
Avatar f tn Hi, A hormone receptor positive status implies a good prognosis and also that hormone therapy can be used and would give good results in all such cases of cancer. Your oncologist would be able to explain this to you in detail. Let us know if you have any other doubts and also post us on how you are doing. Hope this helps. Regards.
Avatar n tn Help me understand - what are the units of cholesterol in? I am not familiar with values of 5.2 or 5.8 - also is this total cholesterol? Usually these numbers are more like in the 100-200 range so I am just a little confused. Your GGT is a little high, but what are your AST, ALT, and Alk Phos values? If those values are normal I wouldn't stress. Did you drink a day or two before you got your lab workup - if so it could just be a little spike from that (and thus no concern).
Avatar f tn i had blood taken at the doctors today and when i looked at my paper the only thing theyve tested is the levels of b-hcg . İ thought that only pregnant women produced this hormone and as far as ı know im not pregnant , im living abroad at the minute so i didnt understand much of what the doctor said and my husband is not the best at translating this sort of thing. My test looks as follows does anyone know what this means ?
519736 tn?1253986826 Free T3 is the active hormone, you should repeat your analyses to see it . Not necessary to test total T4, the most important values are TSH and free T4.
Avatar f tn so its not hyperthyroidism???it could be something else?
Avatar n tn Yes, one should fast for 10 hours before a hormonal test. Normal values of PTH (parathyroid hormone) usually range from 10-55 picograms per milliliter (pg/mL). Hence yours is on the higher side. Repeat the test if you did not get it fasting. If it is still high then calcium levels will need to be checked. Also you will need to consult an endocrine specialist. Take care!
Avatar m tn Normal values for TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) range from 0.4 - 4.0 milli-international units per liter (mIU/L).
1139187 tn?1355706647 at 4 hours, 4.5 of activity was recorded but at 24 hours only 1% of activity was recorded. These values are below the limits of normal and suggest that the thyroid gland has been blocked. A thyroid scan was done 24 hours post oral ingestion with multiple scintigraphic images of the thyroid made. The scan is inadequate for evaluation with very limited amount of I-123 uptake limiting counts resulting in inaqequtely visualization of the thyroid gland. IMPRESSION 1.
523918 tn?1244549831 Thanks for your answer, The values are the free, in a good lab . I've repeated the anti-peroxidase analises and still waiting for the results . Free T3 is 2,8 (ref 2,1 - 5) Free T4 is 1,0 (ref 0,6 -2) TSH 2,9 (0,01 - 5) But I don't feel well, so tired, really, this started 2 months ago. The doctor in my work said that this values aren't the optimal values and I have symptoms. With this values I can be like this?
