Avatar m tn Depending on your age your testosterone may be really low. Remember the "normal range" also is that for a sixty year old and what is normal for a sixty year old isn't for say a 24 year old. Gynecomastia? Erectile problems? Feel well? If you are only doing it for muscle gain you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Also your bones could suffer and you are at higher risk for other things like heart disease, diabetes............. So muscle mass should be the last thing on your mind.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar f tn I have been told from the start that with a lumpectomy I would need radiation. I found out later about the hormone therapy. I want to know if this is standard of care for my situation. I had a 1cm lump including DCIS and ILC. My margins were 6mm, 1cm, 5cm, 6cm. The ILC was in a linear pattern and low nuclear grade. 4 of 4 nodes were negative for cancer. I am ER+ 100% and PR+ 90%. I am HER2 negative. I was told my cancer was caught very early and I should be OK.
Avatar m tn Hi sorry hormone therapy will not help at all , there are no pills or cream to make your penis any bigger , take care ,
Avatar f tn I am 74 years old and have been on Hormone Therapy for 24 years. My new doctor had advised me that she will not continue my prescription because she in uncomfortable to prescribe to a woman over 65 years of age. I think that is my decision to make.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed at age 49 in May, 2007 with Stage II, 3 nodes positive. I had 4 rounds of A/C and 4 rounds of Taxol followed by 33 rounds of radiation. My doctor now wants to put me on hormone therapy. I am premenopausal but haven't gotten my period since July due to chemo. She won't put me on Tamoxifin because of a past history of TIA several years ago. She said I would be at too high a risk for stroke on it.

Avatar n tn The significance would also vary depending on the situation. For definitive (meaning curative, for those men with prostate confined disease) interventions, then the desired post-op or post radiation values would be undetectable. If the values are still detectable, then it may represent failure of the intervention. Or it may mean metastatic disease that was not found before the intervention. Hence, the surgery on your husband didn’t seem to control the disease.
Avatar m tn Docetaxel-containing chemotherapy has not been compared with second-line hormone therapy in a randomized trial in men progressing after ADT. However, the toxicity profile of sequential hormonal maneuvers tends to be more favorable than that of chemotherapy, and most men are offered a trial of second-line hormonal therapy before proceeding to systemic chemotherapy. The best treatment for men who fail docetaxel-based therapy is unclear.

Avatar n tn Hi, You raise a goos question, its common for women to think that hrt is just for woemn without ovaries, its actually used even more frequently for women with ovaries naturally entering menopause ( as you are).
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar f tn I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.
Avatar m tn After watching this episode, I promptly made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss other HRT options. I stopped taking my Premarin, and upon my request for a safer or natural hormone, she prescribed estradiol .05 once a week patch, just recently (last week) added Prometrium, 200 mg. daily. My health/sanity issues have not changed.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar n tn I had prostate surgery by Robotics this past February. I have been on Hormone therapy for the last 5 months. I completed Radiation Therapy 1 month ago. When my Prostate was removed the left nerve bundle was spared and the right one was infected. Everything else looked good and nothing else was infected.

Decisions regarding treatment are based on such factors as stage of disease, tumor characteristics (size of tumor, hormone receptor status, Her2 status), lymph node status.
Avatar n tn Clomid(taken daily as a pill) prompts the pituitary gland to make luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone, which tell the testicles to produce testosterone and possibly more sperm.
Avatar m tn I told him I still want to have kids someday, so he recommended I go on the testosterone therapy for 3 months and off 3 months and so on. I just finished my first 3 months and he warned me I would feel the effects coming off testosterone. Needless to say I have zero energy now, inability to focus, extremely tired and have a dull achy feel all around.
1713674 tn?1308576562 They deal with it by being supportive of their wife. If the woman is uncomfortable having sex after menopause and doesn't want to at that time, then they don't push her for it. Men also lose much of their sex drive as they age and testosterone decreases, so typically there isn't a huge difference in sex drives between the couple. If it becomes a big problem, then he should talk to his wife and express his concerns in a respectful manner.
