Avatar m tn Can anyone give me any input on that? Also, I do have family history of heart disease and cancer. The only thing I’m not cunfussed about is, I need relief, and the sooner, the better! It’s been 8 years since the hysterectomy; my family and I are all at the end of our ropes. Please help! Where do I go for testing? Should I go online or a compounding pharmacy? What kind of doctor specializes in HRT? I am losing faith in ever feeling “normal” again.
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
Avatar m tn t yet have strong evidence that testosterone replacement in patients with heart disease improves survival or reduces heart attacks, etc. I don't know if I would necessarily go the route of TRT unless you are having symptoms and/or have diagnosed hypogonadism (testes producing little or no hormone). I would discuss this with both your endocrinologist and cardiologist and come up with a plan that best suits you. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar f tn During the course of this disease, the cells of the thyroid becomes inefficient in converting iodine into thyroid hormone and "compensates" by enlarging (for a review of this process see our function page). The radioactive iodine uptake may be paradoxically high while the patient is hypothyroid because the gland retains the ability to take-up or "trap" iodine even after it has lost its ability to produce thyroid hormone.
Avatar m tn Samantha, I just wanted to give you this information in preparation for the aftermath of your RAI. Of course you will need a full daily replacement amount of thyroid hormone, and most doctors only prescribe T4 meds like Synthroid, which frequently results in inadequate conversion of the T4 to T3 and thus less than optimal levels of Free T3. Many doctors prescribe just enough T4 med to bring TSH back to a level that suits them.
5697572 tn?1372753114 In few cases assisted reproductive technologies may be helpful. Protein in urine can be seen in any kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, fever; heart disease etc.It should not affect the fertility of any woman. A clinical examination and seeking the opinion of your attending doctor will be helpful. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn I am 48 years old, I take plaquenil for the MCTD, cardizem for palpitations, synthroid for thyroid disease, estrodiol for hormone replacement (had hysterectory 10 years ago). I often have aches and pains and swelling. I hate to run to the doctor with everything because lots of times the symptoms are gone by the time I end up seeing the doctor. This symptom, however, seems to be lingering and it's worrying me a bit. Any info you can offer would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hormone therapy is really not reccomended after batteling cancer,,,ask your Dr his opinion of a herbal called Black Kosch it is known to be good for hot flashes do NOT take it without his permission, I have no idea if it is safe for you or not.
Avatar m tn Do you need hormone replacement after ovary removal in a 63 y.o. post-menopausal women?
1267412 tn?1270253586 I am 40 and had a total abdominal hysterectomy 8 months ago due to an ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis and a benign tumor. I have been taking hormone replacement since then and would like to know if its REALLY something that I HAVE to do for the next 20 as the doctor said... Ive heard alot about side effects and dont want to put anything into my body that isnt truly necessary. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Avatar f tn Replacement with thyroid hormone (levothyroxine) supplies all that is needed from a thyroid standpoint. This needs to be monitored with labs at least 1-2 x / year. Would consult with a pediatric endocrinologist to evaluate the child to ensure there are no other considerations.

915237 tn?1243173894 it may of been the first hormone replacement for hysterectomy I think it was not sure..it is NOT a bio-identical hormone..it is made from the urine of a pregnant mare. just gross to me. and I just have heard all bad about it. Bio-Identical hormones are chemical hormonesmade the closestas possible to what your body should be producing. the med your on is one. I favor Vivelle patch..its easy to use. and many report all good about it. the thing with hormones is its trial and error...
Avatar f tn Which thyroid test would show the hormone level that would be causing heart palpitations or racing heartbeat? Would the symptoms be caused by a high or low level of that hormone?
973741 tn?1342342773 I think pretty much every woman will get to a place at some point where they wonder if they should try hormone replacement therapy. Mixed information about it. Do you use it and what for? Worries about using it? Let's tlk about it.
Avatar m tn Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a progressive muscle disease of the heart and there is no cure for any muscle disease. There are drugs that you can take to help relax the heart muscle so that it will allow the heart chambers to fill better. A Myoectomy surgery can also be done if there is an obstuction to the outflow tracts (HOCM). There is nothing you can do to slow down or reverse this disease.
Avatar n tn Extended long-term survival and symptomatic relief in a symptomatic elderly patient (even in a nonagenarian) with severe valvular heart disease are usually obtained using aortic valve replacement. The long-term survival rate with valve replacement--about 70% at 5 years--appears far superior to that attainable with drug therapy alone. The survival rate for elderly patients undergoing successful operations is similar to that for an age-matched population without valvular disease.
Avatar n tn //www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-16557/combipatch-transdermal/details - This says to apply it to the lower stomach, but that's for women. Most of the sites I found in a google said you can wear it anywhere on the low abdomen or buttocks. Do not put it on the breast. Before using this, have you had your hormones tested? Are you self-treating for something? I would really caution you to not self-treat with hormones, unless you've been diagnosed with something. Are you trans?
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone else noticed an increase in their blood pressure after going on thyroid hormone replacement. Since I was a teenager I have had low blood pressure- ranging from 90/50 to 100/60 max. Every dr. appointment I have had since starting on NatureThroid my pressure is in the 120s over 70s range. Never in my life has my blood pressure been close to that. In fact my PCP in the past has told me to increase my salt intake to try to get my pressure up.
Avatar f tn There are a lot of studies that show a correlation between breast and thyroid cancers. They are both hormone fed cancers too. Just like there is a correlation between thyroid problems and PCOS (just a few of my issues) Bone pain is another issue. Those who on high levels of thyroid replacement meds, are post menopausal, and are not on hormone replacement therapy lose large amount of bone mass. That's why bone density studies are so important (and Calcium with vitamin D) for us.
