718868 tn?1230730029 I too am on the vivelle dot patch, I change mine every 2 days and also take estradiol one tab at bedtime. I am like a new person. I think they have finally gotten my hormone replacement right. I must say that premarin is one of the older, not so good hormone replacement products available. There are so many new and safer bioidentical hormones on the market like the vivelle. I would go back to my doc, get your hormone levels checked and demand to be put on one of the safer replacements.
865758 tn?1285952904 Previous to that my OB/GYN diagnosed me with low estrogen. My estradiol level was 42. When my endo doc ran the TPO antibody test he also checked my testosterone levels and they have come back high. Does the thyroid cause all these other imbalances as well? My endo suggested peri menopause because of the Hashimoto's and I have all the symptoms but afraid that it is just the thyroid messing everything up.
Avatar m tn Dhea(NL) 458ng/DL Ref range142-1410 Testosterone, total (DSL) 346Ng/DL Ref range 190-1037 Estradiol (DSL) 32 PG/ML None given Cortisol 14.8 Ug/DL None given The doctor told me the numbers were in normal range and it is not a problem. I know that my testosterone is low for my age. I plan on losing excess weight and see what happens from there.
Avatar m tn These hormones are very important for normal functioning of our body and if there is a deficiency of these hormones it is important to take hormone replacement therapy to overcome this deficiency. Please relax HRT will not damage your brain but is essential at the moment for you.
Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female, I had a saliva hormone kit evaluated with testosterone, DHEA, estradiol, and progesterone, also progesterone/estradiol ratio done. The results came back as this, Estradiol- normal Progesterone- Low; 47.2 (range of 127-446) Ratio of Progesterone to estradiol - 33.0 Low; (range of 200-600) Testosterone- 83.5 High; (range of 6.0-49) DHEA- 366.7 High- (range of 106-300) I can tell that i have way higher 'male hormones' than the women's hormones but, why?
915237 tn?1243173894 it may of been the first hormone replacement for hysterectomy I think it was not sure..it is NOT a bio-identical hormone..it is made from the urine of a pregnant mare. just gross to me. and I just have heard all bad about it. Bio-Identical hormones are chemical hormonesmade the closestas possible to what your body should be producing. the med your on is one. I favor Vivelle patch..its easy to use. and many report all good about it. the thing with hormones is its trial and error...
709441 tn?1233340088 hummm i had total on monday the 26th and they started me on hormone replacement that day..I am 36 but I wake up sweating every night......so not sure that the cream is working....lol...hope all is ok with you...
Avatar n tn ve been on bio-identical hormone replacement from a Compounding pharmacy by prescription from my practitioner. I use Biestrogens ( estradiol/estrone) and progesterone and DHEA , At my last visit with her, she told me that women who only has their uterus out and still keeps their ovaries will develop early hormonal issues with the adrogens our bodies produce. Being, Progesterone/testosterone. These are the hormones that help us sleep soundly, keep away depression and anxiety..
Avatar m tn If there is a tumor pressing on the pituitary gland, the treatment is surgery to remove it, and then hormone replacement for which ever glands are not functioning as they should. If the messages aren't being sent normally because of a "damaged" pituitary, the treatment is again hormone replacement for those that are low. If I were you I would try finding a doctor who will check into these areas.
Avatar f tn My doctor mentioned that while in menopause, it is common to need more thyroid hormone replacement since I have no thyroid to compensate. Since I am taking estradiol and progesterone and seem to be doing much better since it was adjusted three weeks ago, could I possibly need less armour than I did before?
Avatar n tn they require a Dr. referral. I thought about testosterone replacement but with estradiol so high I wonder if I could have an aromatase deficiency and increase my testerone would increase my estradiol. I read about aromatase inhibitors which may be the answer. I should say that I'm in my mid 30s, obviously male, and rather overweight. Could you please tell me how bad or how out of range my estradiol level is?
Avatar n tn The Doctor said that I would be going through menopause more then likely in a couple of years anyway and it would be safer to have them removed due to the chances of ovarian cancer. But I understand that if you keep them you do not need to go on hormone replacement. I am not sure what I should do? I know what my doctor thinks I should do!
Avatar f tn s, at some point, you will have to begin taking thyroid hormone replacement, of which there are different types, and eventually, you will be completely dependent on the replacement hormones. Some of us on the forum have reached that status.
Avatar n tn My reproductive endo says I am low in estrogen (I am 32) so I am contemplating some sort of hormone replacement therapy (Vivelle-dot and prometrium). My estradiol levels have come back repeatedly on the low end (in the 60's or 40's) but my FSH levels are normal. My last estradiol was taken on day 12 and it was 40 which is low but I don't have regular cycles. Honestly, I don't know if the low estradiol would cause the weight gain...
797256 tn?1237636468 Hello, I am writing because I have lots of symptoms of PCOS and 5 years ago I went through fertiltiy and found that I have PCOS, but now 5 years later I had my hormone levels taken just by family doctor and they say they are normal but what is normal. Can anyone help me? I don't have periods, I grow hair in places you don't want and more here are the lab results from lab. Estradiol (estrogen) 26 pg/mL FSH 5.0 mIU/mL LH 12.2 mIU/mL These are the ones they have done. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn there is a new way of help, there are Nurse Practioners who specialise in bio-identical hormone replacement due to medically/surgically induced menopause they do only that so they really have the time to sit and talk, and are able to prescribe medications. Your depression is normal your likely irritated at the process of going through this and I am glad your taking anti depression meds...heres the thing though...
Avatar f tn Hormone therapy is really not reccomended after batteling cancer,,,ask your Dr his opinion of a herbal called Black Kosch it is known to be good for hot flashes do NOT take it without his permission, I have no idea if it is safe for you or not.
Avatar m tn Do you need hormone replacement after ovary removal in a 63 y.o. post-menopausal women?
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
