1139187 tn?1355706647 i honestly would say get off that stuff and try natural progesterone( i am on it myself and libido has gone through the roof also energy levels have gone up too i had very low thyroid they tried to put me on hormone replacement i put myself onto natural progesterone and solved it. its only £17 in the uk and i think you can get it cheaper in the us. your body turns progesterone into testosterone.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Also, if I could get some feedback on what my friends here think about such. Also, after reading the difference of being treated with pharmaceutial hormone replacement therapy vs. bio-idenitical hormone replacement therapy. I'm seriously thinking of going with the latter of the two. Is anyone receiving bio-idenitical hormone replacement? if so, is it working. Thank you for your feedback.
Avatar f tn also explains why some birth control pills are more helpful than others.. but also suggests using the bioidentical route for hormone replacement (which it sounds like you are doing anyway). I don't know anything about the spray... I do love my patch. Hysterectomy in 2000. Take care and I hope you start to feel better soon. Try to pick up the book.. ordering may be the only way though since it is an older book..
Avatar n tn ve started bioidentical hormone replacement (much safer and without the side effects of the chemically created hormones) and am for the first time in two years hopeful that the mess with my eyelids is ending. Just make sure that testosterone is part of the regime (not just progesterone and estrogen, as increased estrogen without it will actually make the problem worse). Testosterone levels are directly linked to a keeping your meibomian glands functioning properly.
484508 tn?1290010544 I had been on Androgel for low testosterone, but it did nothing, so I started testosterone therapy replacement using pellets, a newer procedure. I am 65. After 7 days, I was hit with overwhelming anxiety, panic, the yawns. Today it is a bit better- Today is day 8. I had no idea that testosterone replacement could cause anxiety. I took the stuff because I had anxiety, that Celexa had done a tremendous job of helping. I had to take a Klonopin last night because I was so anxious.
Avatar f tn My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance. I know there must be an answer somewhere.
Avatar m tn ve read about sex hormone replacement that it is VERY important to make sure the replacement hormone is bio-identical. The synthetic hormones have huge side effects and are simply not as effective. I would like to learn more about this as I think we will need ammunition to use to lobby the Dr. to convince to start the testosterone or DHEA or whatever to start working on that. In addition to staring a dose of T4 medication.
Avatar n tn Your lab values are all normal with the exception of your testosterone which is at the borderline of normal. Testosterone levels in younger men (you qualify) do vary in the course of the day and are highest in the morning. A repeat value obtained in the morning may well demonstrate a higher value. However, the overall picture is that of normality from a laboratory point of view. You then have to look at medications as many of them affect libido and energy. Any street drugs?
Avatar f tn I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.
Avatar n tn I recommend you have blood tests to determine hormone levels. At the very least, they should test for estrogen, testosterone free and serum and thyroid. I get bioidentical hormones of estrogen and testesterone. I also have low thyroid so take meds for that as well. There are different methods of delivery for the estrogen and testosterone: pills, creams, gels, patches and pellets. I get the pellets. They are implanted under the skin on my hip about every 3-5 months.
Avatar n tn What I have learn is somewhat controversial on traditional HRT hormone replacement not actually having the correct molecular make up of the actual human hormones. The stuff I have been reading about HRT is actually made up from other molecular components found in horses. I am not sure on the med you are on - but is sounds very similiar to the two I am reading about. Premarin, Provera. The main ingredient is Premarin which is short - from my reading of pregnant mares.
Avatar f tn Hi Mary, That was my thought as well, that you need more estrogen. Your body needs estrogen. You might try using more cream. Here are symptons of low or no estrogen: Hot flashes and night sweats Irritability, mood swings and depression Loss of libido and energy Trouble sleeping Urinary incontinence Vaginal dryness Weight gain (especially in the abdomen, hips and thighs) I am 54 and was thrown into surgical menopause 20 years ago.
Avatar f tn I agree with naturopath or bioidentical hormone specialist. They can help you thru this time without synthetic drugs.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure how this affects the guys and your testosterone levels, but I know I'm going thru changes. I started feeling depressed and lethargic about 3 years ago and I was prescribed hydrocodone for what i thought was a broken rib. Anyway, I noticed that the depression lifted and I had more energy. I do believe there is a hormone connection in some way. I just stopped the vicoden last Thursday and I'm dealing with it day by day.
Avatar n tn or the Vivelle patch? Estratest? Bioidentical Progesterone? And, what about testosterone, either gel or cream, which we women can use "off-label" but some formulas can be put on the cliteral/genital area and work wonders regarding the issue you mentioned.
Avatar f tn It is a form of HRT....Hormone Replacement Therapy....there are those that believe that bioidentical is better for you then synthenic hormones....personal choice.
718868 tn?1230730029 I too am on the vivelle dot patch, I change mine every 2 days and also take estradiol one tab at bedtime. I am like a new person. I think they have finally gotten my hormone replacement right. I must say that premarin is one of the older, not so good hormone replacement products available. There are so many new and safer bioidentical hormones on the market like the vivelle. I would go back to my doc, get your hormone levels checked and demand to be put on one of the safer replacements.
Avatar f tn you name it and I had it. I started hormone replacement with the bioidenticals two weeks after the hysto. It took me about 6 weeks to feel really good. Once they got my dose right, the gyn/onc sent me to a hormone/menopause specialist. Since I had/have endo, she cut my dose of estrogen way way back. Ugh, I felt like **** again. She said I had tumors again as the endo had returned. Yes it certainly can return with the addition of estrogen.
Avatar f tn TSH 1.574 T3 93 T4 (free() .83 Vitamin D 21.5 of course blood tests given at gynecologist and told "normal". Went to get bioidentical hormonal therapy, testosterone and estrogen and still not right. Feel better except still gaining weight! Really need some guidance on who to go to and are these levels out of the NORM. i feel out of the norm.
Avatar f tn It seems that you are undoing some mental issue related to menopause. I think that going through menopause can cause some of the mental symptoms of "foggy thinking loss of memory problems". I am not an advocate of hormone replacement because of the increased risk of coronary artery disease, stroke, heart attack and increased risk of breast cancer.
