Common Questions and Answers about Hormone patch shows benefit over pill

hormone

Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar m tn Is there such a thing as a one/day nitro pill that I could switch to, in place of the patch?
1262699 tn?1277854959 It's been six weeks for me so far and I haven't seen any change in the relief of my pain. since my pain was daily i couldn't handle it anymore and my gyn doctor sent me to pain management. Now I'm wearing a fentanyl patch (smallest dose) and the pain is under control. My hormone levels are down, but my ovaries still hurt before the pain management. I think it will work slowly for me too, like you said it's not an overnight fix.
Avatar f tn The major problem or disadvantage with the patch is that it can increase the risk of blood clot formation more than the conventional pill. Failure rates of evra patch are more compared to implanon. It is necessary to ensure that the woman will have maximum benefit with least side effects. Implanon is usually replaced every two to three years while patch is inserted vey week. Do discuss it with your doctor before taking any decision. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar n tn but the birthcontrol thing is the only treatment i know of. there are many different types of birthcontrol. pill, patch, shot, and ring. now you need hormone birthcontrol, thats the point. I have tried femcon and ovcon 50, both are pill form. they work but its hard to remember to take it everyday. and if you mess up you get weird symptoms. now I also tried the patch, much better than the pill. and the nuvo ring, its conveinient like the patch but it can be uncomfortable if it slips down.
Avatar m tn thank you for the comments. she went to see a doctor due to bleeding 6 days post-pill, and described the encounter as non-penetrative sex. probably due to the combination of morning after pill+non-penetrative sex in her description, the doctor gave her a pregnancy test kit and it freaked us out >< do u think that the test kit is an overkill?
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
Avatar n tn If you start a birth control pill, talk to your endo first. Mine told me I could stop, but forgot to lower the dose of thyroid medicine and it screwed everything up.
Avatar m tn I was called in for a pill count which went bad and my Dr discharged me. I was doubling my dose because it wasn't helping. So what am I suppose to do now. Been seeing this Dr for almost a year.
Avatar m tn She said that I would need a pill with higher estrogen and that she was going to prescribe me a triphasic pill with varying hormone doses throughout the month. She told me that I could also take this back-to-back and I asked her again for reassurance. However, information online completely contradicts this and im not quite sure what the benefit was to putting me on a triphasic.
718868 tn?1230730029 Does anyone know of any other type of hormone I should ask my physician about, as I am getting very weary of being this age and unable to do very much from my body being so tired and weary. Thank you for your time.
1399033 tn?1449587779 I was on the pill for 5 years.. as soon as I came off it I got pregnant within 2 Months.
Avatar f tn There are other hormonal methods such as the shot, the nuva ring, the patch, the Mirena IUD, etc. Have your hormone levels been tested to figure out what might be going on? There has to be a reason why your cycles are so awful and treatments are only helpful for a short amount of time.
Avatar f tn I was suppose to use the patch, then two weeks later use the prometrium pill (which is progesterone) . After about 2 days with the patch my heart rate went very high, I took the patch off and never tried the prometrium pill. In about 24 hours my heart rate returned to ,well.. normal for me. In my case I found out the it's the estrogen that gives me the racing heart.
Avatar f tn I have been on the fentanylpatch for 6 yrs. I went to my so called"pain management DR.(the only one that takes cash w/ no Insurance and told him I wanted off,not only because it makes my anxiety worse. He also has me on 10mg xanax, oxycodone 10 3 times a day.Fentanyl is down to 25mcg. He actually got angry and walked out of the room, called in 90 tramadol 50mg and .02 clonidine blood pressure patches.Tomorrow is the last day of my patch. Am I going to be okay?
4128244 tn?1350073611 88 now I feel tired all the time. He said the test shows that is what I should be on. My old doctor said my hormone replacement therapy affected my results and raised the amount to .100. I felt great. What can I tell my new doctor to get him to raise my amount again?
Avatar n tn Birth control pills are about 99.9% effective when taken correctly (every day, same time, no misses). So, yes, there is a small chance on the pill, though most people I've talked to who got pregnant missed a pill or weren't taking it correctly when I asked them questions. Even the other forms of birth control are not 100%.
Avatar n tn I advise that you read up on bio-identical hormones, they come in may forms such as creames, mist sprays, pills, I personally found the patch to be the best method for me, very easy to use, and I think ( just my opinion) that the patch deliveres the most acurate does, ( except pills) Ive never been convinced mists or creams could be dosed properly. Yes deffinatley make an appointment with your Dr.
Avatar m tn Or do I just go on estriol cream/patch or estrogel cream....and then figure out if I need t add more, and how do I figure that out - how does one know if she needs progesterin/progestin or testosterone added (either the medical kind or the bio identical kind).
1414887 tn?1287903364 My clinic keeps asking what method I want to do after the baby is born. They gave me a sheet with available options and from the list the patch seems most accurate for me. I'm not good with pills, I'm not sticking anything up my vajayjay & I don't want surgery. The shot seems like something I'm not interested in because I don't want have the possibility of having to wait a year to ovulate if my husband and I decide to have another child in the future.
1428239 tn?1333457053 ve been on like 5 different pills, the patch, and the shot over the years) by far, but you have to be super consistent taking it. And it definitely works well with breastfeeding in my experience.

(Mydaughter, her mother, has died of colan cancer, so I get alot of after the fact, I was surprised to be called) My question is how safe is this procedure?
