Avatar f tn I seriously doubt that migranes are related to menopause..they are related to stress so by having stress from hyster, and medically induced menopause it could be said there is a connection. I saw the Ophrah show you speakof and I am 47 have had a medically induced menopause via hysterectomy also...my doctor recomedded bio identical hrt I only take estrogen...its good for bone desity, helps with nerves and anger outbursts I was having also took away hot flashes and insomnia..
Avatar m tn I cahnged my vivelle dot yesterday afternoona nd went to a party last night. I ate during the evening and drank alcohol. I woke up around 3 a.m. with an unbeleivable migraine as well as the most extreme nausea that I have ever had. Then, I began throwing up avey 15-20 minutes for several hours. My maxalt didn't help my migraine. I finally removed the patch, took some migraine Excedrin and slept most of the day. My vomiting did stop late in the morning but I still ahve a pretty bad headache.
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
718868 tn?1230730029 Does anyone know of any other type of hormone I should ask my physician about, as I am getting very weary of being this age and unable to do very much from my body being so tired and weary. Thank you for your time.

Avatar f tn It is funny you mentioned hormones as I am 55 and just started on a hormone patch about 4 weeks ago. Also, last year I was diagnosed with GAD, generalized anxiety disorder...just wanted to add that.
Avatar m tn Could this be a result of hormone levels dropping? How much Migraine medicine is safe to take within a 24 hour period...I am not a chronic migraine sufferer and before I had the baby, I rarely EVER got headaches and if I did they were very mild. Does anyone else seem to have these types of headaches?
Avatar n tn I advise that you read up on bio-identical hormones, they come in may forms such as creames, mist sprays, pills, I personally found the patch to be the best method for me, very easy to use, and I think ( just my opinion) that the patch deliveres the most acurate does, ( except pills) Ive never been convinced mists or creams could be dosed properly. Yes deffinatley make an appointment with your Dr.
Avatar m tn Or do I just go on estriol cream/patch or estrogel cream....and then figure out if I need t add more, and how do I figure that out - how does one know if she needs progesterin/progestin or testosterone added (either the medical kind or the bio identical kind).
Avatar f tn "Overlapping" may help. When you put on the new patch, leave the old one on for a half or full day before removing. If that doesn't work, you could try switching to the weekly Climara patch and "overlap" it if you still have the migraine trigger. I used the patch for over a year and it didn't work well for me due to the fluctuations and not giving me enough estrogen. But it did not cause migraines but I was never one to suffer with those, thankfully.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar f tn I have headaches all most everyday, but if I get a migraine, it can last for days, I usually have to get a shot if I start getting sick to my stomach
Avatar n tn I get them normally and pregnancy has made them way more frequent.Dr told me its hormone related I assuming your blood pressure is OK?
Avatar m tn Over the past two to three years symptoms also include severe migraine headaches, joint pain, and sleep disorders. Now I am 44 years old. In an effort to try and document a pattern, I recently clued into an increase of some symptoms just prior to or at the beginning of my period. (Stress definitely aggravates my conditions) I confronted my gyno, but basically got a response that it was a coincidence, and it had nothing to do with hormones. Could I be allergic to my own hormones?
557111 tn?1219712047 Thanks, my mom has some serious migrains and she takes imitrex and it helps a lot. I did take an over the counter migraine med with caffeine in it and it helped a lot. I am doing good though other than this dam* headache!
Avatar m tn I had disk surgery on 1/6 and after surgery developed headaches I had surgery on 3/21 to fix spinal fluid leak. Headaches came back... I had the blood patch on 4/25 no improvement on headaches.. how long should i wait to see if headaches end before seeking out next step to rid me of these chronic headaches...
Avatar n tn Once the vomiting starts, I am unable to take anything orally - pain meds or even water. Does anyone know of a patch or cream that can be applied as a pain reliever for the migraine? Or maybe to at least stop the vomiting?
Avatar f tn I had a hysterctomy almost 3 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor. My oncologist put me on an estrogen replacement patch and I have been using them ever since. With all the stuff in the news lately about HRT and their new findings, I would love to know your opinion. Are these studies only on women who have gone through natural menopause or do they also include women who were put into surgical menopause at a young age?
Avatar f tn 2nd and 3rd were just right. 3rd, however, I had an epidural migraine and had to get some blood patch. This time around I'm not going to get one. I'd rather have the pain of labor than the effects of the migraine and blood patch.
Avatar m tn She is not on any hormone replacement therapy. We are planning to get her hormone levels tested at a local compounding pharmacy with the supervision of her OB/GYN. Could her potential TIA (numbness, heaviness of legs, loss of the ability to talk for 15 minutes) be similar to a siezure? Since there appeared to be no blockage from the CT scan and the carotid artery scan.
Avatar n tn It was so severe she literally could not lift her head off the bed until the blood patch was done. The spinal headache went away after the blood patch but she did have a couple of days after the blood patch that she was feeling bad in general and wasn't up to doing anything. The anthesiologist did not say anything about laying flat for 4 days.
Avatar f tn They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? I have had IUI twice and this is my first IVF.
Avatar f tn I went to a hormone doctor, they drew blood and found out I had way to much estrogen in my body. Which can be because of milk and meat and plastics. Well being a vegitarian I knew it was not the meat...lol. But, I ate soy meat and drank soy milk. These raise you estrogen. Also I drank bottled water in plastic. WEll laying off of these helped some , got hormone free reg milk and cut down on soy meats but it took taking Indole-3 carbinol 400 mg. a day to work.
