Hormone patch effects

Common Questions and Answers about Hormone patch effects

hormone

Avatar f tn I also think I am less healthy because of the effects of lack of hormones. I have tried to combat the side effects and did remain hormone free, but now I wonder if I made the right choice. I didn't anticipate having to deal with all of these other health issues so soon. Then again, maybe HRT wouldn't have made a difference. But, it sure does feel like a no win situation. It is hard to know which choice is bad and which one is worse.

Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.
Avatar f tn I would read the booklet that comes with the patch or consult a pharmacist about the side effects as eye issues are not common with estrogen. Perhaps you need a smaller patch - you can trim your patch to help - I do that sometimes.
178345 tn?1242536246 Girls - I know I should maybe post this elsewhere but since you guys are my friends and know so much I was just wondering if anyone here that is on the vivelle-dot patch have any side effects from it..for 2 days I have this drawing pain in my upper thigh...it is more of a nuisance than a real terrible pain...I always worry about blood clots..I took my patch off just in case for a few hours but had to put it on due to the hot flashes ...I am hoping this is nothing but I am worried..
718868 tn?1230730029 Does anyone know of any other type of hormone I should ask my physician about, as I am getting very weary of being this age and unable to do very much from my body being so tired and weary. Thank you for your time.
Avatar n tn I advise that you read up on bio-identical hormones, they come in may forms such as creames, mist sprays, pills, I personally found the patch to be the best method for me, very easy to use, and I think ( just my opinion) that the patch deliveres the most acurate does, ( except pills) Ive never been convinced mists or creams could be dosed properly. Yes deffinatley make an appointment with your Dr.
Avatar m tn Or do I just go on estriol cream/patch or estrogel cream....and then figure out if I need t add more, and how do I figure that out - how does one know if she needs progesterin/progestin or testosterone added (either the medical kind or the bio identical kind).
Avatar m tn Just wondering why "he" is using this product anyway? It is a patch used by women for hormone replacement therapy!
Avatar n tn Hi, I had a total hysterectomy on April 20 (3 months ago). I had my uterus, ovaries, cervix and tubes removed due to fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endometrosis (found during the operation). I also scheduled a urologist to come in after the hysterectomy and perform a bladder suspension. I'm 55 years old and prior to surgery I had not stopped bleeding on a regular basis, so the hysterectomy was my "menopause".
2177836 tn?1355173877 With my first i used the patch..but all birth control made me feel nauseated and pregnant so after 4 weeks i stopped using it. :/ this one im using mini pill!
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar m tn If you have been reading up on the side effects of hormone therapy, you will have found out what there is to know about hormones (and much of it is conflicting, and it seems to depend on when you begin taking them in relation to menopoause). Anyway, Climara Pro is probably no different than any other hormone brand. Did your doctor suggest taking a baby aspirin a day? Also, drink water.
Avatar m tn Lichen sclerosus is a chronic disease which effects usually the genital areas in postmenopausal women. The exact cause is not known and can be too active immune system and hormone problems. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get the diagnosis confirmed. Biopsy skin may be needed for this. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn My wife has breast cancer,her2 positive and is on hercepton every 3 weeks, shes also taking arimidex for hormone therapy. She wants to quit smoking,is it ok for her to use a patch ?
Avatar f tn if your low on estrogen and I bet you are the cure is simple...I choose the patch its easy and no bad side effects...its a simple blood test to determine if you need hormones.
Avatar f tn For me a hysterectomy gave me back quality of life, not to say I didnt have a few hot flashes and moodiness UNTIL I got my hormone therapy right. THEN I was like the old me only pain free. Big hint if Mirena effects you this way do not let any doctor talk you into Leupron its effects are the same if not more sever regarding moods .
Avatar f tn The tenderness could very well be a result of the change in the hormone levels in your body. Keep in mind that HRT has been proven to increase the chance of Breast Cancer. If absolutely necessary these drugs should be used at the lowest dose possible and for the shortest time possible. Regards .....
Avatar f tn I seriously doubt that migranes are related to menopause..they are related to stress so by having stress from hyster, and medically induced menopause it could be said there is a connection. I saw the Ophrah show you speakof and I am 47 have had a medically induced menopause via hysterectomy also...my doctor recomedded bio identical hrt I only take estrogen...its good for bone desity, helps with nerves and anger outbursts I was having also took away hot flashes and insomnia..
Avatar f tn I had a hysterctomy almost 3 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor. My oncologist put me on an estrogen replacement patch and I have been using them ever since. With all the stuff in the news lately about HRT and their new findings, I would love to know your opinion. Are these studies only on women who have gone through natural menopause or do they also include women who were put into surgical menopause at a young age?
Avatar f tn s important to notify your doc about it - depending on how high your fever is, they may ask you to remove the patch tmeporarily - for the same reason as avoiding other heat sources - too much medication can be released. When I was using the patch (I had to stop it due to negative side effects), one time I had a fever of 103.6 from strep throat and my doc had me remove the patch until my fever was below 100 (and use my BT meds during that time).
Avatar f tn I once took Hormones and had horrible stomach cramps, and I was put on the hormone patch so it would not have to go through my stomach. I did have some problems with the patch, but the were mild. Taking oral hormones also made me nauseous while in the car. Just like you, I would often experience the nausea at odd times when I took the oral hormones - estrogen, and progestin.
Avatar f tn ( I just noticed something and am wondering about it. Since I started the Fentanyl patch last week, whenever I take my BT meds (oxycodone), I end up with a headache and sort of long-lasting hot flash. I never felt like this before. Initially I chalked the hot flash up to the humidity here (though I've always been a cold person and never minded the heat. Now I find myself putting the air conditioning on, which I NEVER do.) The headache goes away pretty much if I take 800 mg. ibuprofen.
Avatar f tn Seen an ade on T V commerical about lawsuits because of side effects of patch birth control---ade went too fast to read need to know
Avatar f tn I had the copper IUD (Paraguard) and loved it. I will never use anything different after using the Paraguard. It is hormone free and lasts for 10 years. When my husband and I decided to start trying to conceive in August, I had the IUD removed the day before ovulation. Because the Paraguard has no hormones that interfere with the cycle or fertility, we conceived when I ovulated the next day after the IUD removal.
Avatar f tn Anyone have experience with pregnancy after having a preemie? What sort of side effects do the hormone shots have?
Avatar f tn I'm going to start the patch again. It worked great for me! Only had to change it weekly. I knew EXACTLY when I was getting my period. I stopped using it for 3 months cuz I ran out of health insurance. That's why I'm pregnant today lol.
