It is the main and vital hormone that plays a significant role in menstrual cycle health preparing the body for conception and development of pregnancy. 1.
Avatar f tn HCG is short for Human chorionic gonadotropin which is a specific hormone that is released into your body (blood, urine) at the time of pregnancy, it helps sustain an early pregnancy until the placenta can take over, this is what your hpt picks up on to give you a positive, there are two types of blood te4sts that measure this, one just says yes or no to pregnancy, the other is a couple of tests 2-3 days apart and this measure the amunt the hcg rises.
Avatar n tn If the pregnancy is viable they will continue to double every few days to support the pregnancy. If the pregnancy is not viable the levels will fall and eventually not be present in your body anymore.
Avatar f tn i have had a blood test and the hormone levels have come back at 44215 how many week would that suggest i am
Avatar m tn This will measure the level of HCG that is in your blood stream (the pregnancy hormone). Anything less than 5 is considered not pregnant.... Some doctors dont consider anything under 50 a viable pregnancy... It really depends... So they test you blood to get this baseline number and depending on what it is they would probably want you to come back in 48-72 hours to get retested. If the number is doubling every 48-72hours then generally it is a good sign that the pregnancy is viable.
Avatar f tn My hormone levels went from 56 to 167 to 20 (miscarried), 17.5 then it went up to 18.9 and today, it is at 52. What is going on and how is this possible? I can't seem to get a concrete explanation so I decided to turn to you. Pls explain and tell me what is going on internally. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I do not want to try and get pregnant again without all my hormone levels correct. When do you think I can correctly get my hormone levels checked? Do you think I should go ahead a book an appointment with a fertility doctor for a few months. So that if the problem is low progesterone .I can try to get my levels up. I really don not know how to proceed.I had a health pregnancy 11 years ago. Although it did take a while to get pregnant.
1936698 tn?1333915193 At 31 weeks your hormone levels are not being looked at anymore. By hormone levels I think you mean HCG. In early pregnancy if a Dr. is trying to tell if you are pregnant or if they are unsure if you are having a miscarriage or not they will look at your HCG levels. These levels should double every 48-72 hours, if they do not it is usually a bad sign. After they can see baby on the Ultrasound and get a strong Heartbeat they will stop taking these HCG levels.
4974520 tn?1366757591 Oh okay well i had to ask the doctor what mine were because when they do test to confim ur pregnancy or for any reason to do with ur pregnancy they get the levels to see how it is progressing..
Avatar f tn Friday i went to the Hospital with a small amount of bleeding. They checked everything was fine nice heart beat viable fetus. They also took blood to test my hcg hormone incase i was miss carrying, Friday it was 32000 I went monday agin for more blood work it was Only 47000. They told me this is a sigh of a pending misscarriage because its supposed to double every 2 days.. i just wana know has anyone been through this with a healthy baby in the end..
Avatar f tn It depends on if it's a viable pregnancy or not. A baby won't show up on an u/s before 6 weeks and even then it's iffy. If your HCG levels are doubling then you are pregnant. What is your doctor saying?
Avatar m tn The ultrasound indicated that I was only about 4-5 weeks along so they started monitoring my hormone levels. In the 3 separate days of tests the doctors noticed that my levels were not increasing as they should and informed me that I would more than likely miscarry. The bleeding started two hours after the phone call. About 4 weeks later I returned to my doctor to make sure everything was going ok, as ok as these things can...
2080416 tn?1332254005 For a viable pregnancy your hormone levels should double or more every 48 hours in early pregnancy.
Avatar f tn re at the level yours are ultrasound is the best way to check if the pregnancy is viable rather than hcg levels, so its easier said than done but try not to worry at this stage
Avatar f tn ) He ordered more labs to make sure that the hormone levels are where they need to be and asked me to schedule a follow up in a week. After this appointment, I decided to take the pills being that the first labs that were done determined that the hormone level was low. My question is I am almost 14 weeks pregnant and was wondering if these pills can cause harm to the baby? how effective are these pills at preventing miscarriage?
Avatar f tn it sounds like you may be having an early miscarriage, I would go visit your doctor and have a couple of blood tests done to measure the amount of hcg in your blood, heavy bleeding in eraly pregnancy usually isnt a good sign, but pregnancies have been known to remain viable after such a bleed but the only way to know for sure is to have your hcg levels checked
