797256 tn?1237636468 Hello, I am writing because I have lots of symptoms of PCOS and 5 years ago I went through fertiltiy and found that I have PCOS, but now 5 years later I had my hormone levels taken just by family doctor and they say they are normal but what is normal. Can anyone help me? I don't have periods, I grow hair in places you don't want and more here are the lab results from lab. Estradiol (estrogen) 26 pg/mL FSH 5.0 mIU/mL LH 12.2 mIU/mL These are the ones they have done. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor but I can tell you that most woman that have higher level of testosterone suffer from PCOS. I have a higher level of testosterone and i have had PCOS all of my life.. but was diagnose in 2001. You should go to your doctor and ask to be tested for PCOS.. Good luck..
Avatar f tn I found progesterone cream and Metformin ER has helped with the PCOS symptoms. Many of us with PCOS have low progesterone levels. Progesterone cream helps to raise levels and it also helps to balance the thyroid. Metformin ER can help with the elevated glucose, insulin, and testosterone levels.
Avatar n tn i usually get it twice a year and i dont have insurance to get my hormone levels tested right now and i was wondering if it was pcos do i have to have facial hair or weight gain?
Avatar f tn I took a hormone blood test the other day and the results showed higher levels of LH compared with the levels of FSH (I took the test on day 3 of my period. LH: 7.70 and FSH: 4.4) and so my doctor immediately told me that I had PCOS and that I should start treatment. I was shocked when he told me because he's been doing ultrasounds on me for the past 4 years or so and not once did he mention that I had multiple cysts in the ovaries or anything.
Avatar f tn So we discussed my hormone levels with my doctor today. She said in office that because of my enzyme activity being completely off the charts and elevated cortisol metabolites, I might have PCOS or a tendency for it. However, she later called and said that she's over 90% sure that I do have PCOS. Even though my testosterone is normal. So basically, they want to just treat that and forget about my thyroid. Meanwhile, I'm going completely insane.
Avatar f tn 1) irregular periods, 2) ovaries that look like PCO ovaries on ultrasound, 3) excess hair growth or elevated levels of the hormone testosterone. Since you are telling me your periods are regular, then I assume you have PCO ovaries on ultrasound and excess hair growth or elevated testosterone? If true, you may have PCO, If not, I am not so sure. Regardless, what is most important if you are trying to get pregnant is that you have regular periods and usually seem to ovulate regularly.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed at age 23 when my estrogen and testosterone levels tested way too high, so my doctor put me on birth control to fix my hormone levels. Is your dilemma that you can't lose weight? Have you ever gotten your thyroid levels checked? Look up the symptoms of hypothyroidism and see if you think you are experiencing them - trouble losing weight and irregular periods are two of the many symptoms.
Avatar f tn And I only have some symptoms that go hand and hand with PCOS. But my hormone levels are slightly knocked out of place. So that was the way I was given a diag of PCOS.
Avatar f tn The risk of heart attack is 4 to 7 times higher in women with PCOS than women of the same age without PCOS. Women with PCOS are at greater risk of having high blood pressure. Women with PCOS have high levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol and low levels of HDL (good) cholesterol. Women with PCOS can develop sleep apnea. This is when breathing stops for short periods of time during sleep.
Avatar n tn To get pregnant after your miscarriage you have to have your next cycle first. Seeing as you had a miscarriage 3 days ago the chances of you having a cycle this soon is very unlikely so the chances of you being pregnant so soon is probably not going to happen. Sorry for your loss and good luck in you future with trying to conceive again.
634745 tn?1256844310 Getting a simple blood test done to check your hormone levels can allow them to make the right diagnosis. To answer your questions, no, PCOS isn’t related to discharge of any sort. Also, it is common for women to experience pain with PCOS; usually associated with the cysts, but then again, it is also common that they don’t. I would talk to your doctor and find out for sure.
1455004 tn?1285867061 What did your Dr. say? It sounds like it to me which is probably something you don't want to hear. But besides the "normal" hormone levels you described PCOS. I think if you Google you may find you have something else similar to PCOS. Did Dr. do an ultrasound of you ovaries? Thats truly the only for sure way to tell if you're polycystic. good luck sorry you're having problems. Are you trying to get pg?
Avatar n tn That is done by a simple blood test to check hormone levels to see if they are high. I have PCOS and my hair on top is allot thinner than on the bottom. I take metformin 500mg 2x a day for my PCOS. Before I got treated my periods were also irregular. Some months they would be normal, and then another month they would be messed up were I would bleed for 2 weeks. It's normal to see some difference in your period every month, but what you described to me doesn't sound normal.
Avatar f tn The current status of PCOS needs to be assessed by doing hormone levels. Metformin is giving to normalize hormone levels. Clomid is not the same as progesterone. You should consult a gynaecologist for treatment. Take care and good luck.
Avatar f tn I'd encourage you to visit your ob/gyn to discuss fertility drugs that help stimulate and regulate ovulation. He/she should also perform an initial set of blood tests to ensure your levels are within healthy ranges. There's a full range of diagnostic tests that can be performed. If you're still at a loss when TTC, I'd encourage you to have your ob/gyn make a referral to an RE.
1460967 tn?1512401138 I am 35 y/o and finally went to see a fertility specialist and she did a ANTI-MULLERIAN HORMONE level and mine was 4.05ng/ml. I am trying to figure out if this is good or boarder line too high, they have in the past mentioned possible PCOS but I do not meet a lot of the criteria for this specifically. They will eventually call me but I was wanting any information I could get...
Avatar f tn My doc is leaning towards PCOS but I am skeptical since my other hormone levels were normal. So my question is this: does endo. cause you to have high levels of testosterone? Can you have it without painful cramping (my cramping never hurts, not even during AF, it's just annoyingly obviously THERE)? I'm sure you guys get questions like this all the time, but any response at all is welcome! Please!
Avatar m tn HI, Natural conception is possible in presence of normal hormone levels in women with PCOS. Women with PCOS often require a systematic treatment depending on their hormone levels. Also you need to test for other factors like patency of the fallopian tubes and semen analysis. There is a chance of twin pregnancy with clomifen. Discuss with your gynaecologist. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
5981477 tn?1396042614 Hi I was told I had pocs just over a month ago and been having blood test every week to check my hormone levels and to see if I ovulate.. I to are struggling to conceive and trying every month I'm back having my last blood test Thursday then hopefully the doctor will put me on the right foot ... It's a Stressful time...
Avatar f tn 1 ratio of my LH to FSH, which is why she is diagnosing me with PCOS. I also have elevated DHEA levels, which she said may or may not be related to PCOS. The thing is, I have a slew of other symptoms that presented at the same time of the facial hair.
Avatar f tn re not seeing a GYN, then i would suggest you see one. Your female hormone levels appear to be normal BUT are they normal for you. PCP's go by what the tests results say; specialists go one step further. If you're not feeling good, they your counts are off. I would seek an endocrinologist as hormone levels of the thyroid, pancreas and reproductive system are all covered under endocrinology. I hope this helps. Good luck.
898040 tn?1284036509 I had mine checked when they were testing me for PCOS (along with many other hormones) for hormonal imbalance. It is the hormone that elevates right before ovulation so CD3 is an interesting time to test it. Have you been using OPKs and getting a lot of positives day-after-day?
Avatar f tn So ovaries develop more follicles than normal every month.Diagnostic tests are 2 hr GTT,serum androgen and testosterone levels,LH-FSH ratio, prolactin levels,TSH levels,17-hydroxyprogesterone levels and 3D ultrasound done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
