Avatar n tn is it possible that you are further in to your pregnancy than 8 weeks? I ask this because HCG levels during the first trimester will peak sometime around 9 to 12 weeks of pregnancy, at somewhere around 25,700 to 288,000 mIU/ml. By the final weeks of the first trimester week 13 and 14, hCG levels are finally on the decline, and will be at around 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml. From there, hCG levels tend to continue the downward change into the second trimester.

1936698 tn?1333915193 I'm confused. My doctor has never told me anything about hormone levels and looking out for them or anything. My friend just had a miscarriage last night at 11 weeks, and I feel terrible for her and I just want to cry because she was so excited. Her hormone level went from 73000 to 1200. How do you tell if your hormones dropped and what is so important about them during pregnancy? I'm 31 weeks along and I am so confused about all of it.
Avatar f tn Hormone levels as in HCG? I'd say no, that's not possible, there is a specific type of blood test (I believe) that you can get done to tell gender, but I don't think insurance covers it, so you'd have had to pay it out of pocket, did you have any issues that would require a specific blood test, or did you request one?

Avatar f tn hcg is a hormone found in blood once a woman is pregnant, this is the hormone which levels are measured daily to see if it multiplies and it shows on the development and growth of the fetus. hcg levels must multiply daily. progesterone is a hormone that could keep a mc from happening. and doctors prescribe it if there is a change of that happening.
Avatar f tn Ok. I have had two miscarriages. The first one they said was because of the chromosomes. I was only seven weeks. The second time- everything seemed to be going fine. I thought I was about 10 weeks and I went to the emergency room and they said I needed to go see my ob. So I did the next day and we figured out that I had a blighted ovum and nothing was developing. Well I just found out two weeks ago I was pregnant. Well- I went to the er because I started having severe cramps and bleeding.
Avatar f tn ) He ordered more labs to make sure that the hormone levels are where they need to be and asked me to schedule a follow up in a week. After this appointment, I decided to take the pills being that the first labs that were done determined that the hormone level was low. My question is I am almost 14 weeks pregnant and was wondering if these pills can cause harm to the baby? how effective are these pills at preventing miscarriage?
Avatar f tn Having an underactive thyroid will prevent you from getting pregnant or if you do get pregnant, you could have a miscarriage. You need to get your thyroid levels to an adequate state prior to conceiving. Adequate thyroid hormones are essential for the growth and development of a fetus, especially, in the first trimester, because the fetus's thyroid will not have developed and it must depend on you to provide the hormones it needs. What are your actual thyroid hormone levels?
Avatar f tn Your hormone levels rise again during the third trimester and could cause the morning sickness to return.
Avatar f tn I have had first trimester bleeding with almost all of my pregnancies (I have 4 kids) and while it is unsettling it is not that unusual. I have heard of quite a few ladies in my circle of friends/family that have experienced this and successfully continued on with the pregnancy. Obviously we are all different and bleeding can mean different things for different women but it does not always mean a miscarriage.
Avatar f tn I have this problem too. Asked my midwife about it and apparently its fairly common during the first trimester, but if it carries on later into pregnancy then you may have to have blood tests to check hormone levels. It's more common when carrying boys as when testosterone is starting to be produced, it can carry into your own blood and cause hormone imbalances. I never had this problem with my first(girl), and having a boy this time.
