hormone

Avatar f tn When they are in a proper ratio in the body, they help to promote optimal well-being. However, hormone imbalance can result in severe consequences and has significant effects on the women’s quality of life.
Avatar n tn If you have a hormone imbalance, can it make your birth control less effective? I haven't been able to find much info on this but I suspect I have a hormonal imbalance due to the pill so I was wondering if that could mean the pill would be less effective against pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Hi im 18 can my GP offer a hormone test as i feel i have a hormone balance or is this something you have to buy like a kit (i also have an under active thyroid)
Avatar f tn t involve hormones (such as condoms and foam or an IUD), to let your body go back to its normal hormone cycles. Do this for two or three months and see if your cycles regulate, and how you feel. Keep a journal, it will help you see patterns. Then see how you're doing with the symptoms you list.
Avatar f tn m asking is that do any of you think that these symptoms could be caused by extreme hormone imbalance? No one has ever tested my hormones before. I find it weird that they all started almost a month to the day I quit birth control. Also, my period was never regular when I was younger, I matured late and would sometimes go 6 months without getting my period. I was also anorexic during high school which didn't help. But I am no longer and eat very healthy.
Avatar n tn I am starting to think I may be suffering from a hormone imbalance as my symptoms seem to go when I start my period. I also suffer from inability to sleep, mood swings cyclical depression, facial hair, hot flushes as well as cold and irregular periods, I am now having 2 periods a month, one really light and short and one a week later that is pretty severe....
Avatar f tn It can be due to metrorrhagia(heavy periods). Various factors causing it are endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, hormone imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, use of IUD’s and depo shots, sexually transmitted diseases,PCOS and benign and malignant pathologies of the uterus. You should get a reevaluation done from your doctor. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn HE SAID THAT I HAD A HORMONE IMBALANCE DUE TO STRESS........HE SAID THAT HE WAS POSITIVE OF THIS AND GAVE ME PROGESTERONE TO TAKE FOR FIVE DAYS........HE WAS RIGHT........EVERYTHING IS BACK ON TRACK AND I WAS CALM AFTER THAT.........WELL, MY DOCTOR WHO DID THE BLOOD WORK AND URINE TEST BEFORE THE OBGYN VISIT AND HORMONES, HAD HER RECEPTIONIST CALL ME AND SAY THAT MY BLOOD SUGAR WAS A LITTLE HIGH AND THAT THE DR. WAS PRESCRIBING 2 MEDICATIONS FOR ME......
Avatar f tn This is very common and gets worse with weight gain. Basically it boils down to an imbalance in hormones. The hormone imbalance results in infrequent ovulation which then results in infrequent periods. It can be difficult to get pregnant with PCOS, BUT one should not count on PCOS to prevent pregnancy--its definitely not birth control! The usual treatment for women who do not currently want pregnancy is oral contraceptive pills. These regulate your periods an prevent endometrial cancer.
Avatar n tn Your ovaries provide hormones that keep you in the reproductive stage of your life. When the ovaries slow down or stop functioning (as in a total hysterectomy) then you go into menopause. I am in menopause and dealing with hot flashes daily. My sister had chemo and radiation for breast cancer. Chemo targets fast growing cells which includes cancer cells, ovaries, and hair (which explains why you go bald). She is now in full blown menopause.
Avatar f tn I know how you feel. My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
805912 tn?1239045848 It's possible there could be a problem with your pituitary. The pituitary is a small gland at the base of the brain that is like a "control centre" for the endocrine system. It produces eight hormones including TSH (which as you know, stimulates the thyroid), ACTH (stimulates the adrenals), and prolactin (important for breastfeeding).
676302 tn?1237863491 Teitelbaum also states that your hormones could check out okay on a blood test but a CFS/Fibro sufferer could still be having a hypothalmus/hormone imbalance, once again stating that standard blood tests aren't always a proven like our regular docs seem to think.
Avatar n tn I have taken a hormone test and ob dr said i am post menopausal, but when i had an ultrasound completed i was ovulating. I think that this hormone imbalance is making me sick for the past two years and it is not anxiety. Can some one please give me guidance.
Avatar f tn Well, hormones are wacky so never say never but it is more likely a rapid weight gain. 20 pounds in 90 days is a lot very quickly. I would up the exercise and try to soothe yourself some way orally so you don't eat (gum, chew on straws, etc.). Congrats on being smoke free! AWESOME!!! That's not easy to do so good for you!
Avatar f tn But there is a new problem that I am facing. I get excessive water retention in my body, i can feel my hands padded up,my breasts are extremely painful and feel exhausted and tempramental. This worsens close to mid cycle and gets better as I head towards menses, but breast pain never completely goes away through the entire cycle. This extent of discomfort varies somewhat from one month to another.
Avatar f tn im 48 f, i have periods every 2 weeks for the last 8 months, i also have been getting b12 injections, im depressed but my cheeks and jawline are turning brown, i use sun block , foundation wont cover it, i have also noticed that i have some white patches appearing on my torso and my hand, web searches say conflicting info, high thyroid/low thyroid and hormone imbalance, is this the reason why my periods are like they are ?
