Various factors causing it are endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, hormone imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, use of IUD’s and depo shots, sexually transmitted diseases, PCOS and benign and malignant pathologies of the uterus. What you are having is metrorrhagia due to Mirena IUD. I would advise a gynecologist’s evaluation and an ultrasound uterus to ruled out the above possibilities.

I am thinking of having it removed before starting HRT because even though the doctor told me that there is a very low hormone dosage in the Mirena, I don't want to over-do it with hormones as that could cause me even more problems. It would be amazing if I had it removed that I would feel the way I used to feel back 6 years ago (minus the husband) FYI, before I had the Mirena inserted the first time I read and re-read the pamphlet which contained all the possible side effects, etc.
Hi guys! I had a mirena inserted in march 06, i bleed for 2mths straight and then stopped, and got a normal period a month later. I am 3weeks over due for my period, im always tired, frequent urination, weight gain (eating heaps)...and feeling sick like i want to vomit. I have also had problems with my bowels (which is common in my pregnancies). I have three children already oldest is 3 and the young 8mths. It is very different than Mirena, it is a systemically absorbed hormone. You can't compare the two. If you believe the Mirena is the cause of all your symptoms, then its a good thing you got rid of it. What are you going to use instead?
I am a 17 year old girl who chose to use Mirena because i have lupis antibodies and a hormone pill was not working properly with my body. I received Mirena about a week ago and acutally stopped bleeding, but had very painful cramps. I began bleeding very heavily yesterday and it has not stopped and i still have the cramps... when you went to the hospital did they do anything? because i am very close to going myself...
L , it was either live with the pain or get back on lupron, I chose to live with the pain, I lived with it for three years till I decided enough was enough I went to see another doctor, I explained me situation to him and he was eager to help, I told him that I cant take this pain anymore and I thought that the pain was from the mirena, he laughed and said no way was my pain coming from the mirena and that there was no way it caused me to get endometriosis, so he gave me an exam to make sure my
So my mirena fell out the day I would begin to ovulate. I did have unprotected sex 3 days before it fell out but I feared the mirena was in the wrong spot a week prior because the stings were much lower then they ever were when I would check before. So I have been having some strong eary pregnacy symptoms such as very tender breast, dizziness, cramping, frequent urination, fatigue, im sensitive to smell or food advertions, and mood swings.
Has anyone had the Mirena IUD and had it removed to ttc. I am just curious how long it took you to conceive after Mirena IUD removal? How long until your menstrual cylces were regular? I got my IUD out on Aug 5th and am ttc. I have had lots of spotting and maybe a period but nothing regular. I called my doc and they said that it takes 3 months before the hormones are out of your system. The mirena website makes it sound as though you can get pregnant anytime after removal.
well id say yes maybe because your partner didn't go back to see if his vasectomy was successful and you say all the symtoms. then again it cud be a hormone imbalance due to mirena coming out so you won't really know until you do the pregnancy test.
I had mirena for 14 months. It's been 4 weeks since I've had it taken out and I'm getting pregnancy symptoms.. headaches, body aches, cramping, nauseous, fatigue Etc but I took a pregnancy test and it's negative.. I've always had irregular periods with Mirena..like two periods each month. I had unprotected sex two weeks ago. But no period. It's been 4 weeks. Are these side effects from Mirena or pregnancy and I should just wait?

Other possibilities are thyroid disorders, where an imbalance of the hormone thyroxine can cause menstrual irregularities, and abnormally high levels of prolactin can also cause missed periods. So, please consult your doctor and discuss these possibilities with him. I've been suffering from dizziness which seems to be related to hormone imbalance for over a year. I am 33 years old. I am dizzy before, during and right after the period and during ovulation. So I am dizzy (seriously the whole world is up side down) half the month. I also have extreme fatigue, insomnia, occasional migraines, and anxiety/depression most of of which started after I had my son at 28 years old. Recently I started on Yaz (birth contro). At first, it was too harsh on my body.
I understand that hormonal birth control caused flare ups, but since you have continued to experience flare ups even in the absence of HBC, I'm curious if your baseline hormone levels have been considered, even in absence of HBC? I am not on any form of HBC, but I am just curious whether hormone imbalance is ever considered as a cause. Thanks for any input.
