Common Questions and Answers about Hormone imbalance and weight gain

hormone

Avatar f tn d suggest that if your weight is lower than healthy then weight gain might stable out your emotions. However, I understand if this is not possible as weight gain can be hard for metabolic reasons etc. Again, I think seeing a doctor would be the best opinion, emotions can change for a whole host of reasons they're not always hormone related so it's best to be sure before making any changes. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn I could stand to gain the weight so no problem there, it is the distribution of the weight gain that seems odd to me. Most the weight gain has been in my lower abdomen, lower back and buttocks. My buttocks have even developed cellulite which I know is uncommon in men. Do you think I have developed a hormone imbalance since quitting smoking cigarettes?
Avatar n tn HE SAID THAT I HAD A HORMONE IMBALANCE DUE TO STRESS........HE SAID THAT HE WAS POSITIVE OF THIS AND GAVE ME PROGESTERONE TO TAKE FOR FIVE DAYS........HE WAS RIGHT........EVERYTHING IS BACK ON TRACK AND I WAS CALM AFTER THAT.........WELL, MY DOCTOR WHO DID THE BLOOD WORK AND URINE TEST BEFORE THE OBGYN VISIT AND HORMONES, HAD HER RECEPTIONIST CALL ME AND SAY THAT MY BLOOD SUGAR WAS A LITTLE HIGH AND THAT THE DR. Avatar f tn But this months cycle was worse, plus for about 5-6 days I was waking up after only 5-6 hours of sleep, and being jittery and unable to go back to sleep, the day my period started I woke up and my heart was racing, lasted for about 5 minutes or so. And if I force myself to stay up I am very fatigued that day. Plus I have been feeling worsening fatigue over the last couple months as well, I feel like my sleep is not refreshing.
Avatar n tn Really depends on individual, from my experience after TT, hormone imbalance never affect my weight, my weight always stayed consistent. But for many others, weight can be an issue, some gaining to much, while others experience rapid weight loss. I know for a fact hormone imbalance can cause weight issues, but not sure the other way around.
846905 tn?1258817444 I too have gained a lot of weight, not losing weight while going to the gym and starting diet, and i haven't been able to get pregnant in 2 years other than that miscarriage. My acne is like yours, it will not go away and i am getting boils in my pubic area as well, and I had never had that before. Let me know what you find out... I have an appointment on Monday with a gynocologist and will see if that has anything to do with any of this.
Avatar f tn Sandra Cabot has written some great books on Syndrome X and PCOS diets and how to lose weight when suffering the exxtra hurdles of hormonal issues. Find a gyno or endocrinologist that specialises in PCOS.
16411434 tn?1447717985 M WAY TOO YOUNG FOR THIS MANY HEALTH PROBLEMS. IS EXTREME WEIGHT GAIN AND A HORMONE IMBALANCE A SYMPTOM OF THE DEPO PROVERA SHOT? IF SO, WHAT COULD I DO TO CHANGE MY SITUATION?
Avatar f tn I feel ya girl!!! I need to lose about 30 pounds!! I've been walking here lately that way when I do find out I'm preggers I can kinda be use to it. I refuse to gain 65 pounds again with my second one...LOL....Anyways goodluck at the Dr's office can't wait to till you get back and share your news!
Avatar f tn m asking is that do any of you think that these symptoms could be caused by extreme hormone imbalance? No one has ever tested my hormones before. I find it weird that they all started almost a month to the day I quit birth control. Also, my period was never regular when I was younger, I matured late and would sometimes go 6 months without getting my period. I was also anorexic during high school which didn't help. But I am no longer and eat very healthy.
Avatar n tn Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome has to do with hormone balances, you don't always have to have trouble with insulin or weight gain or hair growth. I don't have insulin problems but I still have PCOS. It takes blood work to confirm PCOS. You can have polycystic ovaries and not have the hormone imbalance. It does not always mean you will have trouble conceiving. You never know until you try.
Avatar f tn One possibility is Polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormone imbalance condition that can cause irregular periods, unwanted hair growth and acne during adolescence and teenage. There could also be weight gain or trouble losing weight, patches of dark skin on the back of neck and other areas (called acanthosis nigricans) and mood swings.
Avatar n tn Upon their removal, levels of these hormones drop dramatically. An imbalance between the levels of androgens (male hormone) and estrogen comes into play. Besides, there is a slowing of metabolism and and water retention. If you are on some hormones, you may ask your doctor to customize your hormonal treatment. You can also try a regular exercise regimen and minimize carbohydrate intake and increase protein intake. You will be able to notice any changes only after a certain time.

706214 tn?1244523049 Pcos is an abnormal hormonal imbalance (to much of the male hormone) I have had it for many years, and i always was stuck at a certain weight, for years and years i tried to shift the weight only to pile it back on again. But for a year now, i have been on a healthy diet and i do exersise every now and then. I am down to a weight that i can control, and feel much healthier, apart from a dizzy spell here and there..
Avatar f tn So I believe it was a hormone imbalance. Start taking your vitamins and eat better and your body will get itself back on track. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I recently got my period in October 2016 and I've been 20 days late, is this normal? I am not pregnant, I haven't gain or Loss major weight, and not much stress!

8210549 tn?1397032061 Symptoms of hypothyroidism are fatigue, depression, weight gain, cold intolerance, dry, coarse hair and skin, constipation ,muscle cramps, decreased concentration, vague aches and pains, menstrual disorders, palpitation and swelling of the legs. I feel that you should consult a physician and get yourself and your thyroid hormone levels evaluated. Other than that get your estrogen, progesterone and FSH levels checked as hormonal imbalance in menopause can also cause such symptoms.
Avatar m tn I have also continued to gain weight despite working out more than I ever have before and becoming a vegetarian and watching what I eat constantly. I carry the weight around my waist, something that was not so pronounced before Sronyx.
415867 tn?1323365503 Sounds like you are on the right track. Pituitary problems, thyroid problems can all cause your symptoms and I am sure they will get to the bottom of it.
Avatar n tn His weight loss, leg cramps(sometimes even hand cramp), eye problems, are all caused by these hormone imbalance? Is there any convenient over-the-counter **************? Thanks in advance for your help.
4258441 tn?1351822696 I have had food testing done and no problems with wheat or such. When I go off wheat or sugar I actually gain weight. Last week was sick with flu and barely ate.....and gained 4 pounds. I have kept track of my calories, get regular exercise, and eat quite healthily. I do not eat fast food, I make my own everything, grass-fed beef, smoothies, raw milk..... Help me please.
Avatar f tn You can also have PCOS and not have cyst just the hormone imbalance. I have had several u/s and no cysts thank god. Unfortunately 50% of women with this will be overweight. Your ovaries, adrenal glands, and fat cells produce androgen. So for women that are overweight, it is really important for these women to lose weight to reduce the androgen production and possibly reduce many of the symptoms. I am overweight by 60lbs and it just piled on in a short time. I don't eat all that bad.
