971283 tn?1247767572 5 hrs in the morning and another hour in the afternoon for several years. My mom and I heard about whey protein (powder) and I started drinking a glass before workouts and before races. I developed Rheumatoid arthritis when I was 15 yrs. It started as "water on the knee" and spread from there. I began losing weight to the point that I was anorexic-looking. My swim coach forced me to stop swimming. The doctors were baffled....
Avatar f tn I would ask your Dr before using whey or casein protein powder... I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm every once in a while but it'd be best to check with them first.
10389360 tn?1410823968 I love making fruity and delicious protein shakesfor breakfast but have been reading mixed reviews about whey protein. I havent been to my OB yet, but my dr said to stick to my diet. Forgot to mention the powder. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn what do you think about grain protein powder? is protein the only requirement to gain weight?
Avatar f tn Whey protein itself is generally good for pregnant women, however ready made protein shakes can contain additives and preservatives that aren't so good for momma and/or baby.
Avatar f tn Ensure is a little different than say whey or casein protein powder such as those used for muscle building. Ensure is very safe and a great way to get all the nutrients you need.
Avatar n tn protein drinks and whey protein drinks aren't bad for growing boys. protein is the fastest way to spur muscle growth. i don't know what part of the world you live in, but you can find both of those products at Trader Joe's if that market is availible to you. If not you can find them at pretty much any health food store, major supermarket, or vitamin shop. some gyms like equinox sell those products also.
Avatar f tn I drink whey protein and use it for cookies, I also eat protein bars.
Avatar f tn Red meat makes HE worse and I get my protein from whey added to sugar-free carnation instant breakfast and I eat poached eggs and toast for lunch and a salad with turkey and cheese with an egg usually in the evening. For snacks I still eat the whey which Is unflavored and I can add it to anything. They wanted me to get it from plant based products, fish, chicken and turkey, cheese and eggs. I was a mess and they threatened me with a feeding tube.
Avatar f tn Whey protein powder is better.
Avatar f tn m on a very strict nutritional program and typically eat two (6 ounce) servings of meat (chicken breast or eye of round) and 1-2 whey protein shakes per day. Different things I've read says that meat is to be limited to 5 ounces per day and no whey. Does anyone have any information on how our protein levels are reached with these limitations? I cannot eat nuts and one can only eat so many egg whites in a day.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I got so hooked on rice milk and powdered protein that I still have one daily. They're a great treat AND source of protein. I like the protein powder that uses chick pea for the protein source. Seems less nauseating to me. I'm sorry you have allergies. When you're already sick, the limitations don't help. Have you tried quinoa? It's kind of like rice in that it's flavorless, but it packs a lotta protein and is lighter than rice. Best to ya.
Avatar m tn STOP THE LIES!!! Whey protein powder causes half of my hair to fall out over a two week period. Do NOT--I REPEAT--do NOT use this if you have hypothyroidism and you are on Synthroid or Levothyroxine. It CAN and DOES make your hair fall out by raising DHT levels.
Avatar f tn m not much of a breakfast person but I do love fruit smoothies and I hear that adding protein powder to a shake in the morning could be a good solution. Has anyone ever tried this or known anyone else who has? Really would like to know if its okay.
Avatar m tn ok thank you im looking more into it and all i have talked to an expert doctor my own doctor and he says that its not good to take whey protein powder , but if i take hemp protein powder instead because its natural look it up its the real stuff thank you again .
Avatar f tn I usually use whey protein powder mixed with water or sometimes almond milk, and I find it very easy on my system, easy for my body to digest and absorb (instead of eating a high-in-protein steak). I also sometimes use a plant based protein powder, but I find whey protein dissolves very easily in water compared to plant based proteins. I don't eat mammals, but I'm aware beef protein powder exists but it is not on the menu for me.
