Common Questions and Answers about Hormone free iud copper

hormone

Avatar f tn the Mirena (uses the progesterone hormone and lasts for 5 years) and the Paraguard copper (hormone free and lasts 10 years). I had the Paraguard. It works because it makes the uterine and vaginal fluid too acidic for sperm to survive. Each type of IUD has its pros and cons. Some women like the Mirena better because it can eliminate or lighten periods, but the body is likely to somehow respond to the progesterone.
627145 tn?1230305626 I need to get contraception that is hormone-free, so I believe I want an IUD. I've always seen my internal medicine doctor for pelvic exams, so I'm not established with a gynecologist. I tried to find a gynecologist who was taking new patients, but it's really hard to find one! Or if they are, the next appointment is in April. I need birth control now. Isn't there some way to get in quickly and get the IUD in the first visit and then maybe one follow up and be done with it?
Avatar f tn Most birth control use hormones except condoms and Copper IUD. These might be safer than others in your situation, but just talk to your dr about wanting to breast feed and he'll help you find the best one for you.
Avatar n tn And if you don't want to get pregnant, a copper IUD is an inexpensive, effective, and hormone-free form of birth control. Most IUDs have hormones, but the copper one doesn't need hormones.
Avatar n tn I'm 27 and just removed my hormone-free IUD exactly 2 weeks ago today. My period just finished last week, and today I started to have cervical mucous - therefore I know I'm ovulating. What I'm wondering is, how long do you think it will take to conceive? We have intercourse every day, sometimes twice a day, but I've been hearing that it could take a while before becoming pregnant.
Avatar m tn I would personally recommend the implant. It lasts for three years and has no major side-affects. It is low/no maintance which means she won't have to remember to take the Pill every day.
435139 tn?1255460391 Like Mumita I have a copper IUD and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It is hassle free, hormone free, comfortable and I never have to think about it! When we decide to ttc (in another 2.5 years) all I have to do is have the doc pull it out. This is my second IUD, and I believe that it will always be my number one choice between pregnancies.
1181036 tn?1367368640 I have a 3yr old son and a 9 month daughter that I am breast feeding. I was thinking about getting the Mirena IUD but I'm nervous about it. Have any of you ladies used it before? What were your experiences? Also, I know it's effective for 5yrs, but can it be taken out early? Because I really only want it for 3 years at the most, but I'm looking for a hormone-free birth control (other than condoms). Also, what was the return to fertility like after it was removed? Thanks in advance!
4114400 tn?1349923931 There are two diff iuds mirena has hormones and paraguard is hormone free. I used the paraguard because I was breatfeeding. I never had any problems with it either.
266539 tn?1281402152 Hey, I have blood clotting mutation and I was only given four choices. There is a pill that has no estrogen, I don't remember the name. Most pills use two kinds of hormones estrogen and one that starts with a M(don't know how to spell it). There's the shot, a patch, the marina IUD and the copper IUD. I was told that the M hormone is not known to cause blood clots. But I was unwilling to take the risk. I don't know if that helps at all.
1205562 tn?1554747006 anyone heard anything about the no-hormone copper IUD? or better yet, tried it???
730826 tn?1317943334 Have you thought about getting a Copper IUD? It's hormone free. Your body just might not be able to handle the hormones from the bcp.
Avatar n tn Can copper IUD cause headaches had this fitted 6 weeks ago and suffering headaches every other day since
896114 tn?1241617023 From what im experiencing now, i dont think you should get the copper iud. The excessive bleeding is driving me crazy.Your periods get super heavy. I had mine since Jan 2009. It was ok at first, i thought it was going well until now, bleeding for 20 days so far. It is so bad that i actually removed it myself, which probably will only make things worse. It seems to some how prevent your period from running its course making you bleed lightly for days.
Avatar f tn I believe the copper iud is a hormone free option. Ask your doctor if that might work for you.
3105573 tn?1355979465 if your emotions go crazy with birth control, I would check out the copper IUD. It can be left for up to 10 years and is hormone-free.
663264 tn?1228675600 I've had a copper iud for 7 years, always regular ( 28-29) day cycles. Now I'm 7 days late, but 3 preg tests have shown negative. I'm REALLY worried now. Can the copper IUD cause a neg test result? Could I be prego and the test still show neg? If I'm not preg, what else could have cause my missed period? I haven't had any major stressful events, my sched has stayed the same- no reason for this missed period. I have absolutely NO signes of my period coming at all.
