797256 tn?1237636468 Hello, I am writing because I have lots of symptoms of PCOS and 5 years ago I went through fertiltiy and found that I have PCOS, but now 5 years later I had my hormone levels taken just by family doctor and they say they are normal but what is normal. Can anyone help me? I don't have periods, I grow hair in places you don't want and more here are the lab results from lab. Estradiol (estrogen) 26 pg/mL FSH 5.0 mIU/mL LH 12.2 mIU/mL These are the ones they have done. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar n tn Soy has plant estrogens. If your cancer is estrogen sensitive I would be very careful about using any product with "isolated soy protein.

Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!
Avatar f tn Dear Amy good question personally I am in favor of estrogen replacement , especially at your age.
Avatar f tn Hi I read your last post and it asked about hormone replacement therapy , this is a different thing from hormone blocker pills as hormone replacement is just what it says it replaces the hormones lost after menopause and I believe that blockers are used to treat women that have hormone dependant cancers in that they block the hormones made in the body that feed the cancer .
Avatar f tn It also said that woman with higher estrogens had this more, which you do not. Did you ever take birth control pills? My sister had problems with her estrogen and progesterone levels after she took birth control. It really messes up your system. Please bear in mind I am NOT a dr and only telling you what I read from an article of the net. I do not know what all pertains to you if any! Since you do not have higher strogen is probble why it was not cancerous.
Avatar n tn prolactin and cortisol slightly above normal.prolactin was 34. My estrogen is very low at 15. I live in bonaire and the doctor told me come back in one month after you stop birth control pills yasmin. My tsh was retested along with prolactin and both went down one week after first lab results but i had not changed ant medications yet. Do you know what may be the issue???? Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar m tn Before the test I stopped using birth control pills which I started 7 months ago, I stopped because they caused spotting between my periods, now spotting gone. The pills that I have used were low hormone one which means no estrogen. Plus just before the pap smear, after I stop pills, my period was weird, no aching breasts etc, now it is also normal. So my question is, I think obviously my hormone level was low, can LSIL be related to that?
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 22 years old and was diagnosed with endo when I was 17. I have been on the depo shot for about 3 years now but I hate the way it makes me feel and all the weight I have gained. I can't take estrogen pills because it makes me super sick no matter how low the dose. I was wondering what has worked for you gals and if you had any suggestions.
Avatar f tn Hi, laura, Because the tests are "demanded" by myself, I paid for them. So if the tests I have had were done in the appropriate time. My Estrogen hormone is at a very low level. I am very worried about it, and don't know what it will cause problems.
Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Avatar m tn These pellets are implanted under the skin of my hip. I get estrogen and testosterone. Estrogen for hot flashes, night sweats, dry skin, anxiety. moodiness. Testosterone for my sex drive. Prior to the pellets, I was on estrogen and managed those symptoms. For 16 years, I had little sex drive. The testosterone pellets drastically changed my life for the better. Desire, lubrication and orgasm skyrocketed. BHRT comes in different methods of delivery.
Avatar n tn I read that a c-section can throw off hormone levels. Maybe there is a connection between female hormone levels and neuropathy.
Avatar n tn You are having hot flushes? It suggests your amount of estrogen has dropped from what your body was getting before. Ask the doctor. He or she might want to test your estrogen level in your blood, or might just interpret that the hot flushes mean your estrogen level is a little low.
Avatar n tn Thyroid meds and HBC pills have to be taken hours apart, or you could consider the patch, ring, or IUD.
Avatar f tn I am recovering from a hysterctomy due to uterine cancer. My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance.
Avatar f tn July 2008, I went off birth control pills because my husband and I were trying to have another baby. I have a 4 year old son now. October 2008 I had a miscarriage. After that, I never really started my cycle again. My dr. said it may take a while to become normal and he was not concerned. In June I was given prometrium to start my periods again and it worked. I started 12 days later, but I never ovulated and it never came again.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

Avatar n tn The most life-threatening side-effect of birth control pills and all estrogen hormone containing birth control pill are blood clots. If the blood clots develop in the leg it causes pain in the leg this is know as a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). If the clot travels to the lungs through the blood stream it is known as a Pulmonary Embolism (PE). From what you have written, it doesn’t sound like you have either of these conditions.
Avatar n tn Soy has estrogen like effects... have you tried drinking vanilla soymilk? You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn m unable to tolerate my synthroid- because of low hormone levels?? I have heard that having low estrogen causes one to be more sensitive to thyroid hormone. Anybody have any experience with this??
405614 tn?1329144114 Are the headaches the main reason that you are feeling icky? I haven't had a period in 15 years, however, I can tell you that migraine headaches are effected by fluctuations in hormones. I went to a neurologist that only specialized in headaches a few years ago, because I was having them almost daily. I cut the caffeine out of my diet and made a few other dietary changes, which really helped. Also, I was put on a higher dose of the beta blocker I was taking.
Avatar f tn Hello, Weight gain in your case can be due to the estrogen hormones. Higher doses of estrogen in birth control pills is known to cause weight gain in women due to fluid retention. Get your estrogen levels checked. For weight loss, apart from diet control, indulge in physical exercise daily for which you can even join a gym. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
