Avatar f tn 1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up. When I mentioned this to him at my last exam he basically told me unfortunately I am on the highest patch dose and he does not want me to take oral estrogen since there are higher risks so nothing he could do.
Avatar n tn Thankyou for your reply, I found that two gyn doctors didn't care to test the hormone levels in my blood, you must demand to be tested or they won't bother..we really need to know whats going on with our bodies to some extent before we enter the office.. I would love to have not just my estrogen levels tested but the progesterone and testosterone checked also..
Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!
Avatar f tn They can then determine if you really are low estrogen. And if it is so low that you have these types of issues, then you can perhaps take BC with estrogen and bump back up to get regulated again. I had the opposite for a good while of TOO much production of estrogen which acted like a natural birth control pill, infrequent periods, melisma on the face (lovely), etc. That was a bummer. But definitely, out of nowhere, hormones can get out of whack.
Avatar n tn However, with IVF they have to keep a good balance because if estrogen is too low you would miscarry. Good luck to you!
865758 tn?1285952904 Previous to that my OB/GYN diagnosed me with low estrogen. My estradiol level was 42. When my endo doc ran the TPO antibody test he also checked my testosterone levels and they have come back high. Does the thyroid cause all these other imbalances as well? My endo suggested peri menopause because of the Hashimoto's and I have all the symptoms but afraid that it is just the thyroid messing everything up.
797256 tn?1237636468 Hello, I am writing because I have lots of symptoms of PCOS and 5 years ago I went through fertiltiy and found that I have PCOS, but now 5 years later I had my hormone levels taken just by family doctor and they say they are normal but what is normal. Can anyone help me? I don't have periods, I grow hair in places you don't want and more here are the lab results from lab. Estradiol (estrogen) 26 pg/mL FSH 5.0 mIU/mL LH 12.2 mIU/mL These are the ones they have done. What does this mean?

Avatar m tn If a pituitary tumor isn't producing excess hormones and isn't impinging on other arreas of the brain, what point is there in doing surgery?None, probably. However, if, instead of producing excess hormones, the pituitary is producing less than normal levels of hormones, (partial or complete hypopituitarism), the target hormones (e.
Avatar f tn I have low estrogen levels (102 and they said it should be around 150) and low progesterone levels (11? and they said it should be 15). During these results I was on folistim and then also progesterone pills. I had polyps removed 5 months ago and was told I had polypoid endometrium. Can't find anything on that topic though. What does this mean for my body in general as far as mood/health is concerned and how is my infertility directly related? Been TTC for 3 years...
Avatar f tn I have been told from the start that with a lumpectomy I would need radiation. I found out later about the hormone therapy. I want to know if this is standard of care for my situation. I had a 1cm lump including DCIS and ILC. My margins were 6mm, 1cm, 5cm, 6cm. The ILC was in a linear pattern and low nuclear grade. 4 of 4 nodes were negative for cancer. I am ER+ 100% and PR+ 90%. I am HER2 negative. I was told my cancer was caught very early and I should be OK.
Avatar n tn prolactin and cortisol slightly above normal.prolactin was 34. My estrogen is very low at 15. I live in bonaire and the doctor told me come back in one month after you stop birth control pills yasmin. My tsh was retested along with prolactin and both went down one week after first lab results but i had not changed ant medications yet. Do you know what may be the issue???? The doctors here are taking this lightly and are not treating me. I feel awful?????
Avatar f tn Hi, laura, Because the tests are "demanded" by myself, I paid for them. So if the tests I have had were done in the appropriate time. My Estrogen hormone is at a very low level. I am very worried about it, and don't know what it will cause problems.
1074733 tn?1256231619 This past summer our family doctor tried to put me on estrogen cream due to symptoms he believed are caused by low estrogen. I refused the prescription and told him I wanted a hormone panel done first. If the hormone panel came back saying I was low estrogen, then I would use the cream. My panel came back normal, with my estrogen level being close to high still. He was surprised and agreed that I did not need the estrogen.
Avatar f tn t working for me... lol I was in peri-menopause and my estrogen levels were too low, but I drank a lot of coffee because I was tired all the time (that undiagnosed Pernicious Anemia I struggled with for years). As soon as I cut my caffeine intake, my breast swelling/tenderness went away. That was when I was in my early 40's. I've since had a hysterectomy and been on a variety of HRT; for me, the problem is directly linked to caffeine... one of my quirks, I guess.
Avatar f tn I have IDC, Triple Negative, however, less than 1% ER is positive, 5% PR weakly positive and HER2 negative. Will I benefit from Aridimex/Zometa? Before cancer, my blood tests revealed low estrogen levels >20, whereas it should have been >41. Is there a possibility that by taking Aridimex, I am allowing the cancer to recur. I have just finished dose dense chemo for 8 rounds, and will be doing radiation in a couple weeks.
138239 tn?1239924924 What do you know about DHEA? It is a precursor hormone - so it becomes either testosterone or estrogen. It can be low for many reasons - but were any other androgen tests done as well that were off like estrogen or testosterone? If you take DHEA, you will likely raise those levels. It can have unwanted side effects in that case. Was LH or FSH tested? Any other adrenal hormones like renin, aldosterone, cortisol, ACTH tested? How were you tested for Cushing's?
Avatar f tn It did not cease the heavy flows and that followed with more tests. I had a progesterone and estrogen test done on day 12 and on day 21. On these days my progesterone and estrogen did not spike. My doc believed I had low hormones and put me on the Wiley protocol. It was disastrous! I felt worse on the Wiley then not and the only thing it fixed was my heavy flow. I gained weight, had hot flashes, mood swings, anxiety.
Avatar f tn The Maca is the only change. I feel like I did when my hormone levels were low. Have I blocked my receptors? I'm waiting on blood work to see what my levels are.
Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Avatar f tn I'll try to be brief. Age 49, perimenopausal and losing hair. Hair replacement specialist sent me to a "medispa" for hormone balancing by a physician. My hormone blood levels were tested mid-cycle. He determined that my hormone levels were "normal" but not "optimal". In the course of this workup, he ordered copies of all my old breast exams, PAP's and bloodwork.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 22 years old and was diagnosed with endo when I was 17. I have been on the depo shot for about 3 years now but I hate the way it makes me feel and all the weight I have gained. I can't take estrogen pills because it makes me super sick no matter how low the dose. I was wondering what has worked for you gals and if you had any suggestions.
Avatar f tn Your estrogen levels are way too high. Total estrogen normal reference range: Day 1 - 10: 61 - 394pg/mL, Day 11–20: 122–437 pg/mL; Day 21–30: 156–350 pg/mL. High estrogen leads to excessive production of thyroid binding globulin (TBG). Although there are enough thyroid hormones in the blood, they are not taken up by the body's cells as they are inactivated by TBG. In other words, thyroid labs are in range but you have signs of low thyroid function.
Avatar f tn High levels of estrogen cause unexplained weight gain and feeling fatigued or lethargic. Low thyroid hormone is a consideration since there is family history of thyroid disease but high estrogen is a more likely cause in my opinion. A good article on high estrogen is "High Estrogen Overload Symptoms. Dangers Every Woman Should Be Aware Of" from the Healthy You Naturally website. An excerpt....
Avatar n tn I read that a c-section can throw off hormone levels. Maybe there is a connection between female hormone levels and neuropathy.
Avatar f tn I am recovering from a hysterctomy due to uterine cancer. My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance.
