Avatar f tn I am recovering from a hysterctomy due to uterine cancer. My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance.
Avatar f tn For instance, we can load up on products that stimulate estrogen (such as soy and other herbal preps) which can upset a balance needed between estrogen and progesterone. During menopause, both levels drop but, progesterone drops the most. So, while our estrogen levels fall by a certain percentage, our progesterone may drop far more.
Avatar f tn a very low dose hormone replacement treatment regime of estrogen and progesterone, or a controlled herbal remedy such as pueraria mirifica. Which is a better idea? PS I will see a doctor about this before doing anything, but wanted other -- and maybe personally experienced -- opinions, so please don't just say "see a doctor.

Avatar f tn *Herbal medicines Withania or Coleus to increase production of thyroid hormone. (See Best Herbs for Women article.) *Iodine (not kelp) but in LOW dose. *Use with caution in Hashimoto's disease. *Amino acid tyrosine which is the building block for thyroid hormone. *N-acetyl cysteine to detoxify *Vitamin B6 and Vitamin A to improve the function of the thyroid gland. *Selenium and zinc to ensure conversion of T4 to T3.
Avatar n tn My new doctor recommended me to have a salivary test to test hormone levels/cortisol/dhea. The results show what she called estrogen deficiency and high cortisol levels. progestrone level is okay. She said that I could try "natural" estrogen cream but I have tried bioidentical progestrone cream before and this brought on bleeding again just after 3 days of use. I also experienced giddiness with it use.
Avatar f tn s been a problem too. My recent hormone labs showed my estrogen and testosterone were still extremely low (not even in range).
Avatar m tn Hello, Wow, that appears to be a great info about the activity of a herbal supplement. Apparently, your present hormone profile is controlled by the supplement. I have read Tribulus, one of the herbal components of the X180 supplement increases Testosterone (T) level by boosting LH and FSH .
Avatar f tn It is claimed to be a good bio-identical product, interesting it doesnt seem to contain estrogen or testoserone, so it is definatley not a hormone replacment therapy. It is more a medication to increase natural sex drive, lubrication, and help with hot flashes, mood swings etc...seems to be similar in chemical structure to a anti-depressant. I also noticed its very pricey , please keep in touch w me and let me know if you try it how it effects you .
Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar f tn In a 6 month period my estrogen level went from below 20 to over 2300. What could it be? I am a 'healthy' 53 year old female. 5' 5" and 140 lbs. I have been in menapause for 5 years. (no period). I have taken herbal supplement, "Estroven" since the beginning. I have not had HORRIBLE hot flashes, night sweats or mood swings. However, I have had vaginal dryness. A couple of years ago, I began using Estring 2mg - which helped.
Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!
7843530 tn?1395009668 I was expecting to hear that I had too much estrogen, not too much testosterone! Are there herbal supplements or vitamins that encourage a decrease in testosterone? I don't have insurance so beyond what the walk-in clinic already told me, I'm kind of on my own in terms of trying to fix this. I'd appreciate any further feedback--I'm really tired of skipping periods for no apparent reason!
Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Avatar f tn Your best bet, is to go to Dr, (gyno) pr HRT specialist....ask/demand a full hormone blood panel,,that will tell where you stand hormone wise. I am not a dr, however I have had many women take Black Kosch sometimes spelled Black Cosh,,its an herbal and most claim it covers the exact symptoms you have...
Avatar n tn I read that a c-section can throw off hormone levels. Maybe there is a connection between female hormone levels and neuropathy.
Avatar n tn You are having hot flushes? It suggests your amount of estrogen has dropped from what your body was getting before. Ask the doctor. He or she might want to test your estrogen level in your blood, or might just interpret that the hot flushes mean your estrogen level is a little low.
Avatar n tn I also read from some other source that Chinese Herbal medical has some effect on the hormone level. Specifically, I saw graphs of elevated Estrogen and decreased FSH profile after some treatment of herbal medication, but the graphs did not give more detailed info on test conditions. Q: How would Chinese Herbal medicine affect the day 3 lab test? Are there some general info I can learn? Understand this highly depends on the drug that is given.
643867 tn?1225298753 He said my estrogen is also low but I was hesitant about going on estrogen so he added some testosterone which he said will get converted to estrogen partly. Anyway, that was Monday and I did not have a copy of the test results in front of me when we were discussing it. I just had a chance to look at the results this morning and according to the lab, my progesterone levels are too high. Here are the results: Test Result Range Estradial 0.8 0.5-1.7 Postmenopausal (optimal 1.3 to 1.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

529546 tn?1213384699 Right now im on a high protein diet to try and gain some weight which for someone who is naturally really thin and has been the same weight since my Freshman year of High School its pretty hard but im determined, or she suggested some hormone pills like BC but obviously allowing me to ovulate. I really, really do not like the thought of taking more hormones i already didnt like what the BC was doing to my body so i feel like im stuck.
1112541 tn?1286311213 There are definitely natural / herbal products that really do work for many of us. I started using an herbal product called Wisdom Menopause Formula last winter when I couldn't handle the side effects that Premarin was causing me, and it has worked wonders - way better than I expected. I know at least six other women who are taking it, and I haven't heard anything but praise.
Avatar n tn Soy has estrogen like effects... have you tried drinking vanilla soymilk? You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.
655897 tn?1328018445 My progesterone is over 20 and my estrogen is 237. Does that sound good? I have fekt crampy 6 and 7dpiui but not so much today except for in the morning due to the Crinone.
