I do have painful joints, dry thinning hair and dry skin. On no new meds. Please help me,I am feeling really crappy with all this weight.
Avatar f tn Have you heard of Vagifem? It's a non-systemic hormone that is just used vaginally, not a pill, or a systemic estrogen. For years after having a complete hysterectomy, I was on a gel, Estragel or something like that, where you rubbed the gel on your arm. I was told it was safer than an oral estrogen or shots or patches because it didn't have to pass as much drugs through the liver.
Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!

Avatar m tn Dhea(NL) 458ng/DL Ref range142-1410 Testosterone, total (DSL) 346Ng/DL Ref range 190-1037 Estradiol (DSL) 32 PG/ML None given Cortisol 14.8 Ug/DL None given The doctor told me the numbers were in normal range and it is not a problem. I know that my testosterone is low for my age. I plan on losing excess weight and see what happens from there.
Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Avatar n tn I read that a c-section can throw off hormone levels. Maybe there is a connection between female hormone levels and neuropathy.
Avatar n tn You are having hot flushes? It suggests your amount of estrogen has dropped from what your body was getting before. Ask the doctor. He or she might want to test your estrogen level in your blood, or might just interpret that the hot flushes mean your estrogen level is a little low.
Avatar n tn However, I was able to stop diabetes meds as I eat 5 times a day, no sugar imbalances, no hormone imbalances, exercise still and I now weigh 120 lbs since 2003....you are eating too little calories and probably not enough protein...sorry so long, I do have my own site to see for yourself and read as much as you can and do your research which is why I am now a nutritionist and natural hormone clinician...that is why women struggle to lose weight more than men....blessings to you my new friend.
1638247 tn?1300467050 I've always been heavier than everyone else, even though I ate less and exercised more. But from the age of eight onward, I began gaining a lot of weight for no reason. No matter how little I eat or rigorously I work out, my body won't respond to diet or exercise. At one point, I was living on 200 cals a day while strength training and arobics morning, noon, and night.
Avatar f tn I am recovering from a hysterctomy due to uterine cancer. My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

Avatar f tn I had another hormone blood panel done and it revealed I was still low in estrogen. The Dr inserted an estrogen “booster” pellet at this time. After another week I told the Dr I was still soooooo tired and had gained another couple pounds. She increased my Armour Thyroid to 2 gr (120mgs) per day. A couple days after the Armour increase, I didn’t feel “quite” as tired. Instead of wanting to sleep ALL day, I now could get by with three, two hour naps per day!
Avatar n tn Soy has estrogen like effects... have you tried drinking vanilla soymilk? You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.
Avatar m tn Hi, I will only share some thoughts I have about your case. First of all, assuming your present hormone levels are as per your body's natural range, the issues what you are having may be simply psychological aftermath of your stressful married life which ended in a divorce. Try cooling your mind by meditation, yoga, social interaction etc. and I hope would get normal. By the way do you have children from your marriage and are you still worried about them?
655897 tn?1328018445 My progesterone is over 20 and my estrogen is 237. Does that sound good? I have fekt crampy 6 and 7dpiui but not so much today except for in the morning due to the Crinone. Please tell me what you think. My estrogen on the day of trigger was 1810. When I got pregnant before, my progesterone was12.2 and estrogen was 600.
Avatar n tn Soy has plant estrogens. If your cancer is estrogen sensitive I would be very careful about using any product with "isolated soy protein.
797256 tn?1237636468 Hello, I am writing because I have lots of symptoms of PCOS and 5 years ago I went through fertiltiy and found that I have PCOS, but now 5 years later I had my hormone levels taken just by family doctor and they say they are normal but what is normal. Can anyone help me? I don't have periods, I grow hair in places you don't want and more here are the lab results from lab. Estradiol (estrogen) 26 pg/mL FSH 5.0 mIU/mL LH 12.2 mIU/mL These are the ones they have done. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar n tn The ovaries normally produce the female hormones estrogen, progesterone, and androstenedione. Upon their removal, levels of these hormones drop dramatically. An imbalance between the levels of androgens (male hormone) and estrogen comes into play. Besides, there is a slowing of metabolism and and water retention. If you are on some hormones, you may ask your doctor to customize your hormonal treatment.
Avatar f tn I was placed on HRT - estrogen and estrogen vagina cream. I was 23 and had a 14 month old baby girl at home and needless to say it was a very difficult time. Reach out to family and friends for support. Baby yourself, rest and try to relax. Look into alternatives to estrogen and dont stop until you find something that works for you. You are still young and have many more years ahead. I'd suggest looking into naturopathy for alternatives.
