Common Questions and Answers about Hormone diet forum

hormone

Avatar m tn How were you treated for Graves Disease? Are you now hypo? Are you on thyroid replacement hormones? If so, which ones, what dosage and for how long have you been on it? It's possible that you need to increase your med dosage, if you aren't losing weight. Typically, when thyroid hormone levels are adequate weight will come off. If you have current labs you could post, that would be helpful for us.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to reverse hypo with diet and exercise? And once you start meds is it possible to not need them in the future?
Avatar m tn "Is there any one reason for all these". Not sure the reference ranges for the SGPT or SGOT so don't know if they are out of range or not, but your TSH is too high, as is your Triglycerides, plus your HDL cholesterol is too low...... High TSH suggests hypothyroidism; hypothyroidism can cause high triglycerides and low HDL. Has your doctor prescribed you a thyroid replacement hormone or ordered further testing, such as Free T3, Free T4 or thyroid antibody tests?

Avatar n tn HE SAID THAT I HAD A HORMONE IMBALANCE DUE TO STRESS........HE SAID THAT HE WAS POSITIVE OF THIS AND GAVE ME PROGESTERONE TO TAKE FOR FIVE DAYS........HE WAS RIGHT........EVERYTHING IS BACK ON TRACK AND I WAS CALM AFTER THAT.........WELL, MY DOCTOR WHO DID THE BLOOD WORK AND URINE TEST BEFORE THE OBGYN VISIT AND HORMONES, HAD HER RECEPTIONIST CALL ME AND SAY THAT MY BLOOD SUGAR WAS A LITTLE HIGH AND THAT THE DR. Avatar n tn This is the fastest way to lose fat and build muscle in the body. Peak 8 actually stimulates the growth hormone in the body. I encourage you to visit Dr Mercola’s site to learn more about Peak 8 fitness because I personally feel that it is one of the best ways to exercise, especially considering the speed at which you can lose fat and build muscle. I highly recommend you read this article and watch the videos on the page.
Avatar f tn I am being treated for a goiter and am secreting some hormone on my own. Evidently, in this situation they give you a little boost of hormone so that the over stressed thyroid doesn't have to work so hard; hopefully, it will quit enlarging and may even shrink back down some. At least that seems to be the theory. And yes, I have changed my diet as the dr told me to cut way back or even eliminate soy from my diet.
Avatar f tn Ok, I've been spending my first couple days on this forum over in the anxiety section as I've had anxiety/panic issues for 16 years, but recently I've been having some different issues that are leading me to think that they are not caused by anxiety alone.
2215568 tn?1339764975 HCG is only produced naturally in the body during pregnancy but has proven to be an effective weight loss aid when used in conjunction with a controlled diet. The HCG diet can be found at spas and clinics all over Salt Lake City.
Avatar f tn t know how many on this forum might be breast cancer survivors or have tried the hcg shots; and we usually recommend losing weight by implementing sensible eating habits, along with moderate exercise. You might try asking you question on the Alternative Weight Loss forum.
374593 tn?1257879950 Has anyone modified their diet for endo - for fertility or symptoms? and if so what did you do and how did it work? I've heard caffine, alcohol and wheat are big no no's along with soy and any meats that may have hormones in them, just curious to anyone elses experiences! THANKS!
Avatar m tn I am 27 years old, male and I feel I have hormone problems but despite years of doctors visits and research I cannot figure it out. The problem is I cannot afford the trial and error method of dr.'s tests and visits so maybe someone can give me a bullseye to aim for. OK here are my symptoms, (hold your breath) I have night sweats that soak the bed sometimes especialy if i go to be with the blanket over me, I get hot easy at night. I dont sleep well.
Avatar f tn The FDA prohibits the sale of anything with any measurable hormone and the ONLY way to get hormone is by taking hormone which can only be done with a prescription.
Avatar n tn t know about alkaline diet then this is what you needed. The alkaline diet is basically based around the idea that the foods you eat can alter the pH value of your body. Fresh vegetables and fruits are the great sources of protein, which further results in protecting healthy cells and balance essential mineral levels.
Avatar n tn Many of them also adjust thyroid hormone medications based only on the TSH test, without bothering to test the actual hormone levels. You might want to check out the thyroid forum, here on MH for more information on testing/treatment of hypothyroidism... You can access the forum via the following link: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Thyroid-Disorders/show/73 I'd also like to add that I've lost 25 lbs this year by adding "more" fat to my diet, not less...
Avatar n tn Besides optimising thyroid hormone levels so your metabolism speeds up, the low carb high fat diet is something to consider. High-fat ketogenic diet fuels rapid weight loss, say obesity experts... "But Westman says rapid weight loss isn't the only benefit of a ketogenic diet, which has been found effective in treating epilepsy, reverses type 2 diabetes, and preventing heart disease. New research indicates the low-carb, high-fat ketogenic diet fights depression and bipolar disorder.
846905 tn?1258817444 I too have gained a lot of weight, not losing weight while going to the gym and starting diet, and i haven't been able to get pregnant in 2 years other than that miscarriage. My acne is like yours, it will not go away and i am getting boils in my pubic area as well, and I had never had that before. Let me know what you find out... I have an appointment on Monday with a gynocologist and will see if that has anything to do with any of this.
Avatar n tn As long as they increase - they are good! Look at some of the threads in this forum - a bunch of women posted their levels - but you cant compare apples to apples since you don't know exactly when you conceived. Just make sure they are increasing through another blood test to be sure.

Avatar n tn Usually diet and your daily stresses can trigger a depression before and during your cycle. Each person is different. My concern with you is, how long has this been happening? Is it something new? Or has it always been this way for you? Calcium or the lack of Calcium in your diet can trigger depression, as calcium drops severely about 10 days before cycle. Also your hormone levels may be unbalanced, which causes a drop in blood sugar and serotonin.
Avatar f tn I have been on a gluten free diet for 8 months now and when I try non organic gluten I get bloated, have pain with my diverticulitis and increased GERD. My Gastro specialist says I do not have Celiac but gluten is like an allergy (multiple generations with gluten trouble). The hard part is sorting out what I need to take less than why. SamE has really helped with my arthritis in knees as well as mild depression from having to be mostly home bound.
Avatar n tn Please mention in detail the illness of your friend and repost on this forum so that it can be duly answered. I don’t see a mention of the same in this post. Take care always.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I recently decided to begin an elimination diet to rid my diet of allergens (gluten, soy, dairy, sugar, caffeine, unfiltered water etc. ) in hope that i can find a possible solution to this headache. ;) I am wondering if anyone else has found relief through this method? I eat mostly vegetarian, occasionally eating fish, but i consume a lot of soy and dairy products. I'm fairly active and would love to find a solution through diet and exercise.
