1156486 tn?1262394803 THANK YOU for the information. I was able to find the cookbook and that made me feel a LOT better about the "diet" thing. I also finally realized that it's a LOW idodine not a NO idodine diet. Yesterday (Monday) was my grocery shopping day and today (Tuesday) is going to be my "cooking and freezing" day because Wednesday will be the day I go off my meds. I have received wonderful advice on this site and I am very thankful for people taking the time to write to me.

Avatar n tn You need to be on the Low Iodine Diet. If you go to thyca.org and there is the low iodine cookbook pdf on the left hand side. Remember, it's not necessarily a no salt diet. You can have salt, just the non-iodized kind. And no sea salt. I was told to go on it a week before my treatment, which ended up being almost two weeks, because my treatment dose was given late in the week on the second week. I then had to stay on it for 48 hours afterwards. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn they have wonderful cookbook for LID also go to the healthfood store and see about their chicken I got mine with no sodium or salt and remeber it is LOW iodine not no salt or sodium diet. good luck hey ask the doc about the thryoogen shots so you dont have to go through all this bull. Avatar f tn I am on the Low Iodine diet for the next two weeks, I was wondering what are the Sweets that are allowed to eat, I have a terrible sweet tooth and the cookbook had no sugestions, so looking for what sweets I am allowed to have. Someone said Gummi Bears but not sure if that is true, so any suggestions would be Great.
Avatar f tn I am very excited to have found this website, as I have just started a project of creating a cookbook for parents with CSID children. My son was diagnosed 3 years ago and have had to spend a lot of time adjusting his diet and learning on my own as the csid support group site is not very helpful. During the past year, I have added several supplements to my son's diet and he thriving and doing exceptionally well!
Avatar n tn Go to Thyca.
425199 tn?1313068997 When I was on the LID, I called the Nuclear Med department in frustration because I had printed out a cookbook from another site, and everything said to use unsalted ingredients. The diet that they gave me at the hospital said I could have peanut butter, along with various other things that had salt in them. The nurse at Nuclear Meds told me that I could have salt - just not "iodized" salt.
Avatar n tn Hello everyone, I am having a very difficult time finding appetizing foods that have non iodized salt or stick to other rules within the diet. Has anyone been on this diet and find some really good foods that stick to the rules? I don't have a whole lot of time every day to cook, so I need something that's relativity easy. Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn Practice portion control, don't eat junk, drink plenty of water and take a brisk 30 minute walk every day.
1346724 tn?1282322904 s leaning to PDD-NOS and I was wondering if I should try a diet like that or the Feingold diet. Has any one tried either one or which one would be a better diet to follow?
Avatar f tn There is a cookbook out there on what foods to eat to help improve fertility. I was given it by a friend. I don't remember what increased it but I do remember that it said to avoid soy and pineapple. I'll let you know the name of it when I get home tonight if you would like.
451191 tn?1264432890 Woohoo, on the LID again (hasn't even been a year since my first foray into the saltless, tasteless world of pre-scan/treatment bliss) and starving to death. I have extraordinarily high metabolism (always have and it didn't change with TT) so everything that I can actually eat on LID literally gets digested in 15 minutes, at which point I am completely starving and left with the same limited choices I had 15 minutes ago.
Avatar f tn Oestrogen dominence can apparently be common with Hashi (autoimmune). My mum had it and once she started taking Progesterone (bioidentically correct from compounding chemist) cream, she started feeling dramatically better. No Pms, mood swings, depression, Painfully sore and swollen breasts etc Her low to non existent sex drive also went into overdrive. I also have low Testosterone and DHEA for my age and I'm on these (only 3 days so far).
Tbd Hi, depending how long you have had diabetes, and your overall condition, losing weight and changing your diet to a strict low carb diet / keto diet, could possibly put your diabetes into remission or at worst make it very much easier to manage. The principle of low carb diet is restricting carbs, particularly all grains, sugars, starchy veges and sweet fruits, and eating a diet that focusses more on protein, low carb plant foods (veges and non-sweet fruits), some nuts, and healthy fats.
Avatar f tn Confused about soybean oil on a low iodine diet. The thyca.org website has a low iodine diet cookbook and lists what you can and cannot have. One the can't have- all soy products. On the can have side all oils including soy oil? What does this mean. I found an unsalted margarine and all ingredients look good except it has soybean oil. Is is ok? Any info is appreciated.
926040 tn?1321497266 Hello everyone - I'm a 'lurker' here mostly. Total Thyroidectomy 5/21 & the biopsy confirmed papillary cancer in both lobes. Today I started on the LID for the RAI on the 24th and used a couple of 'recipes' from thyca.org's cookbook ... but it made me curious ... do / did you have a favorite recipe when you were on the LID? (those who have had RAI) ...
168348 tn?1379357075 Thyca.org has a Low Iodine Diet cookbook loaded with recipes and suggestions. It's really wonderful and helpful. I printed it out to have handy when they schedule my RAI. TT is a week from tomorrow (EEK!), so I believe I'm looking at RAI in early May. My endo said that the purpose of the LID is to deplete as much iodine from your system as possible. As thyroid cells are the only cells in your body that absorb iodine, this ensures that they are "starving" for it.
Avatar m tn How were you treated for Graves Disease? Are you now hypo? Are you on thyroid replacement hormones? If so, which ones, what dosage and for how long have you been on it? It's possible that you need to increase your med dosage, if you aren't losing weight. Typically, when thyroid hormone levels are adequate weight will come off. If you have current labs you could post, that would be helpful for us.
Avatar f tn My low iodine diet lists margerine and butter. However the butter is made from cream and margerines contain soybean oil. Can someone straighten me out since I am not suppose to have soy products or dairy?
Avatar n tn Anyone recommend any particular food for a large dog or specefically a G.S. - or suggest a "cookbook" for homemade and suggest any additives or vitmains that may be good for preventitive measures and keep him in good health. THANKS !
Avatar f tn That is kind of difficult because of your aching back. But have you tried running? You can try that until your back is better to do abdominal workouts because there is little you can do about your belly fat without working out with your back. Also these things start off with what you eat. Have you tried dieting? Not the traditional kind of diet but a different way of eating, a much healthier way. I've been on this cookbook for a week and a half now, and I dropped 4 pounds already.
