Common Questions and Answers about Hormone balance weight gain

Avatar f tn Toni is right - you don't gain weight from the med, you gain weight from your thyroid hormones being too low. Weight gain is a classic symptom of being hypo and many people are lucky enough for the weight to come off, once their thyroid is leveled out again. Some of us have to work hard at getting it off. I'm one of the latter. I find that maintaining portion control has as much to do with losing as what you're eating.
Avatar n tn You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.

Avatar f tn I got my RAI treatment last Friday. I still don't feel any change but I'm trying to eat 200 - 300 calories a day because I'm so afraid of weight gain. ( I blew it yesterday, though! It was more like 600) I need to find a new job and I won't be able to spend money on a new wardrobe. I do feel depressed but I think it's normal - from losing my job, not being able to hold my grandson or hug my kids, and not being able to get a new job.
Avatar n tn my weight continued to increase extremely rapidly to the point where i couldnt handle it anymore, obtained more thyroid hormone (nature-throid this time), and started taking several grains again. it has NOT slowed down the weight gain at all, which continues to rise several pounds a week, despite about 1500 calories per day and a good amount of exercise (biking, walking) and activity. here is what i am wondering: 1. what is going on with me? 2.
Avatar n tn At what point do you get concerned about weight gain? I feel completely ridiculous posting this. I'm 34. I've always been pretty active, not a marathon runner but active. I eat pretty good. We don't have any snack food at home since one of my kiddos eats all, I do have one can of pop a day but otherwise I eat pretty balanced. In Jan and early Feb I weighed 125. i was getting married and watching my weight closer than normal.
Avatar f tn I have since gained a good 20 lbs. I could stand to gain the weight so no problem there, it is the distribution of the weight gain that seems odd to me. Most the weight gain has been in my lower abdomen, lower back and buttocks. My buttocks have even developed cellulite which I know is uncommon in men. Do you think I have developed a hormone imbalance since quitting smoking cigarettes?
