Common Questions and Answers about Hormone balance test women

hormone

Avatar f tn Women who have a healthy hormone balance tend to enjoy their lives the most. Hormone fluctuations can result in several problems such as perimenopausal difficulties, premenstrual syndrome, mood swings, fibroids, heart disease, breast cancer, and ovarian cysts. Usually, women don’t completely meet what their bodies need—food and exercise to reduce stress and feel better. Diet, nutrition, and workout are some of the common lifestyle changes that can help women restore hormone balance.
Avatar f tn Hi im 18 can my GP offer a hormone test as i feel i have a hormone balance or is this something you have to buy like a kit (i also have an under active thyroid)
Avatar f tn If you did want to still have children, there are things you can do to improve your hormone balance which is usually the number one reason why women have trouble at our age. One very effective thing is acupuncture. It's not cheap but in just a few months can return your hormone balance to where it should be. It can help alleviate the symptoms of perimenopause even if you didn't want to have kids. There are lots of supplements that can help with hormone balance, too.

Avatar f tn By nature, birth control works by changing the hormone balance in your body. I believe in most cases it makes your body think you're pregnant so that you won't get pregnant. It's probably this change in hormone balance that's causing this. There are 2 possibilities: it could be that over time your body will adjust & you won't feel so sexually charged. Some women have a drop in their desire when on the pill. The other possibility is you could ask your Dr.
Avatar m tn the other symptoms have come and gone (and come again) but the balance issue is a constant. Here is a link describing the VNG test and additional tests that I will have done. http://nationaldizzyandbalancecenter.com/services/balance-lab-testing/ http://vestibular.org/sites/default/files/page_files/Documents/Diagnostic%20Tests%20for%20Vestibular%20Disorders.pdf I hope you can get some answers...it's very hard to be out in the world when you feel so unstable!
Avatar f tn Well I havent gone through menopause yet, but I did see a womens health doctor and she tested all my hormone levels and said I was in pre menopause, I was only 31 at the time, she wanted to start me on hormone replacement therapy, she said it would help with my anxiety so much, I didnt want to start HRT at such a young age, and you always hear about women that get cancer with hormone Replacement so I was scared as well. So here I am still dealing with anxiety.
Avatar n tn Clomid(taken daily as a pill) prompts the pituitary gland to make luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone, which tell the testicles to produce testosterone and possibly more sperm.
Avatar f tn t, we just have to focus on getting our bodies into balance. (better diet, good supplements, hormone balance, lower stress level, adequate sleep, etc.) Once our bodies are in good shape physically, there is a much better chance that they can do what they're meant to do. I have been working for several months and am starting to notice some significant progress. I still haven't carried to term yet, but I KNOW I will! We're all still relatively young!
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar f tn u mite be pregnat but u may have took the test too early it can take up to 4 weeks for the pregnancy hormone to show in ur urine take another test in 1 weeks time i found first response the best test as it can detect the pregnancy hormone earlier than clear blue
Avatar f tn DHEA-sulfate test measures the amount of DHEA-sulfate in the blood. DHEA-sulfate is a weak male hormone (androgen) produced by the adrenal gland in men and women. If your levels are high, you may have the unwanted side affects of excess hair or other male characteristics. This is something to follow with PCOS.
Avatar f tn So many women with hypothyroidism, also have PCOS. Myself included. I found progesterone cream and Metformin ER has helped with the PCOS symptoms. Many of us with PCOS have low progesterone levels. Progesterone cream helps to raise levels and it also helps to balance the thyroid. Metformin ER can help with the elevated glucose, insulin, and testosterone levels.
628735 tn?1273875777 • Vitex (Chasteberry) supports hormone balance and normal ovulation frequency. In clinical trials, women with fertility disorders benefited from vitex agnus castus, with more pregnancies then placebo groups. For women who are trying to conceive, hormonal balance is important for regular ovulation, for the maturation of the ovarian follicle and the healthy development of reproductive tissues in the uterus (to prepare for implantation of the egg).
Avatar f tn Women make progesterone in their ovaries until peri-menopause which occurs around age 40 to 45. Men and women make progesterone in their adrenal glands. Progesterone converts to another hormone, allopregnanolone which activates the brain’s Xanax receptor, the GABA receptor.
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar n tn As long as they increase - they are good! Look at some of the threads in this forum - a bunch of women posted their levels - but you cant compare apples to apples since you don't know exactly when you conceived. Just make sure they are increasing through another blood test to be sure.

Plant Is there a home hormone test to check for menopause or peri-menopause, I can purchase without going to the doctor?
Avatar f tn For reasons that are not well understood, in PCOS the hormones get out of balance. One hormone change triggers another, which changes another. This makes a vicious circle of out-of-balance hormones. Symptoms tend to be mild at first. You may have only a few symptoms or a lot of them. The most common symptoms are: Acne. Weight gain and trouble losing weight. Extra hair on the face and body. Often women get thicker and darker facial hair and more hair on the chest, belly, and back.
Avatar m tn Dhea(NL) 458ng/DL Ref range142-1410 Testosterone, total (DSL) 346Ng/DL Ref range 190-1037 Estradiol (DSL) 32 PG/ML None given Cortisol 14.8 Ug/DL None given The doctor told me the numbers were in normal range and it is not a problem. I know that my testosterone is low for my age. I plan on losing excess weight and see what happens from there.
Avatar f tn i have just gave blood samples for SHBG but i dont know if the testosterone test is for bio-available or not, my doc not up to scratch on this hormone thing and my endo is all for keeping ;me in the dark, i wish i knew more about the whole system. I am on 50mg of DHEA DAILY which makes no difference at all and on fluoextine 30 mg and the testosterone patch but nothing seems to make any difference. moods are all over the place and depression can set in occassionally as nothing seems to change.
Avatar f tn A healthy diet is also very important for hormone balance and good general health, home made veg soup and meat such as chicken is very good, and obviously fruits. This is all good, helps with hormone balance, if there not balanced then periods are effected. Good hormone balanced means will help make ur period regular, pls avoid fried foods, junk food, fizzy drinks and limit Caffine and tin foods as much as possible. 5.
