Hormone balance saliva test

Common Questions and Answers about Hormone balance saliva test

hormone

Avatar f tn I have had panic disorder for many years, but it has gotten worse the past few months. I am in the process of doing a 28 day saliva test for my adrenal and hormones. The company that sent the test kit to me then evaluates the results and formulates a transdermal cream that is unique to your tests to bring your hormones back into balance. They start with the adrenal balancing since if your adrenals are out of balance (cortisol and DHEA), your sex hormones will be out of balance.
Avatar f tn who rec I do a hormone saliva test during my next cycle to pinpoint any areas that I may have deficiencies. I am wondering if this worth it. I've had the standard blood work of the different hormones but they never tested at different times during my cycle. I'm wondering is this really medically significant. I initially was taking clomid to ovulate and now have stopped and am having regular cycles on my own but no pregnancies.
Avatar f tn Hi im 18 can my GP offer a hormone test as i feel i have a hormone balance or is this something you have to buy like a kit (i also have an under active thyroid)
Avatar f tn my serum (blood) progesterone level was in very low normal range when test, but saliva is high... which is more accurate?? And can progesterone turn into cortisol as she is saying?? And how does this affect my thyroid- which is hypo, currently being treated by synthyroid ( could not tolerate armour- racing heart). Anyone have any really good websites or books which explain how this is all related??? And what can I expect for the future.
Avatar f tn Took new saliva test and went to new hormone specialist. She changed me to cream (bio-identical also) plus added 4 adrenal food supplements. I have taken the same blood pressure med for 17 years and kept my levels normal. After using the hormone cream and adrenal supplements for three weeks, my blood pressure soared. My doctor took me off the supplements, but my blood pressure was still dangerously high. She doubled my present BP med plus added another med before it would come back down.
Avatar m tn Many of your symptoms look like those of hypothyroidism. I am not sure if saliva test is as accurate as blood test, in any case it would have been helpful if the reference range from the lab for each reading were also given. Since you have mentioned about digestive issues, the first step you could do is to consult a physician or a gastro enterologist to find out if you have any issues with your digestive tract.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I just noticed that on the quest lab slip there is a saliva cortisol test ( lab code 10291 ) i always dismissed this as hocus pokus, but now quest has it on their lab slip?
1258539 tn?1293840202 Getting tested for these hormones is hard at best, the one main test that I feel is accurate is the saliva test, it is more dependable than the blood test as that is usually one draw and only a picture of what is going on for that second. The saliva test is done thruoghout the day, it measures different levels at different times. I would also recommend you add some good, food grade B vitamins, these are the "nerve" vitamins and great for peri-menopause or menopause.
Avatar f tn Hello all... I just had a cortisol saliva test and the numbers were weird, I think. I am hypothyroid (autoimmune) and since starting the thyroid meds my life has become unbearable. I can't sleep for more than 6 hours (if I am lucky) and usually 3-5 hours is the norm. I used to sleep at least 8. I am soooo emotional (like, crazy emotional) and I was never like this. I feel like I am running on fumes all the time and there are no fumes left.
13246092 tn?1429152825 The only test I despise is the dex suppression test as the docs use it as a test of exclusion when it should be a test of source logically. But no test is perfect. I failed all suppression tests (still do) and so most docs will dismiss just on that. I asked about the tan as ectopic rumors pump out high amounts of ACTH. It is that hormone that causes the tan as the first fifteen molecules of the ACTH is the same as melanin. I have high ACTH due to my tumor so I have a tan and age spots.
Avatar f tn Some people may need their adrenals corrected before taking that thyroid pill. The most reliable test for adrenals is the 24 hour saliva test, cheaper than a blood test. Why don't more endos test and treat our adrenals??? Read the below article. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art44711.
Avatar f tn She said that it would be very worthwhile to have saliva testing of hormone levels. She said that saliva testing is more sensitive and picks up imbalances that often are not detected in the blood. That way I would at least know if a hormone imbalance is possibly a part of the cause of the short circuiting of the Autonomic System. She said there could even be some other toxicity from food or environment.
Avatar f tn In my opinion that is way too much dhea. It appears you are in perimenopause at this point, likely estrogen dominant as progesterone levels drop quickly in our 40's . Please do an intensive saliva test for all sex hormones, dhea, and cortisol, before self navigating on a possible dangerous course of hormone replacement. You might want to try a compounded, sublingual dhea at very low doses.
299737 tn?1216208554 One doc has mentioned the adrenal insufficiency issue and is trying to get me to do a saliva test for adrenal deficiency, but I have been too exhausted to get up and fiddle with testing my saliva at 7:00 a.m. in the morning. If my adrenals are fine, he wants to put me on human growth hormone.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female, I had a saliva hormone kit evaluated with testosterone, DHEA, estradiol, and progesterone, also progesterone/estradiol ratio done. The results came back as this, Estradiol- normal Progesterone- Low; 47.2 (range of 127-446) Ratio of Progesterone to estradiol - 33.0 Low; (range of 200-600) Testosterone- 83.5 High; (range of 6.0-49) DHEA- 366.7 High- (range of 106-300) I can tell that i have way higher 'male hormones' than the women's hormones but, why?
358971 tn?1330888975 m still wondering why the hell I have one sore breast WITH shooting pains. Perhaps too much estrogen. I turn my saliva test in when AF starts so hopefully I'll have some answers soon!
Avatar f tn more bumpy boobs, VERY bloated/ bigger stomach, stomach cramps, missed/ late preiods, increased saliva, very tired (although not so much this week) as well as some dizziness and backache. However, i did a pregnancy test yesterday and it said negative... I was wondering how likely it is i'm pregnant? Taking into consideration i would be about 12 weeks gone by now. Please help! I'm 18 & a little bit scared. Thanks.
Avatar n tn You might ask for a saliva cortisol test. A saliva test is more sensitive to abnormalities than a blood test, I believe. My son's adrenal stress showed up on a saliva test at least one year before it was seen in a blood test. He was in pretty bad shape by then. Unfortunately, his doctor didn't act on the saliva results, as the test was done through a nutritionist, and not by him. (My son had a pituitary craniopharyngioma). Everyone is a biochemical individual.
1319991 tn?1274357816 hello im sure they should do a saliva test not blood test for hormone levels as blood test are inaccurate as when your body expels hormones that it has too much it has to transport them via your blood stream to your liver i think to be expelled. where as when you have a saliva test you do not get the waste transported so you get an accurate level on if its high or low. also look into natural progesterone. as i have had a thyroid problem they wanted to put me on hormone replacement.
