Will maca block hormone receptors? I had my ovaries, uterus, and cervix removed in 2006. I use progesterone and testosterone pellets, oral progesterone and dhea, and Armour Thyroid. My levels were good and I heard maca works well with hrt to optimize it. I got severe acne on my chin and insomnia the month I took maca. I stopped and my breasts are deflating and I'm having hot flashes. The Maca is the only change. I feel like I did when my hormone levels were low.

its not reccomended to take maca with hormone stuff, as maca works by nourishing the endochrine system which in turn regulates your hormones naturally, so if your taking progesterone as well I dont think that is a good idea, also its not reccomended if your taking any type of fertility drugs :)

maca acts on the pituitary gland and hypothalamus, so it may rise the level of your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and have a possible effect on the thyroid cancer cell turnover. However, I have not found any studies confirming its effect(s). But I would like to know, for I have thyroid cancer and suffering from menopausal problems.

I have read a lot about Maca how it is suppose to naturally balance your hormones without having any hormones in it, good for bones etc . I took it for a while then I was told that it may not be good for some thyroid patients hence I was told "While maca root is generally beneficial for users with thyroid problems, individuals suffering from Hashimoto's hypothyroidism are encouraged to avoid maca root and use black currant oil instead. Has anyone heard of maca and if it works? I was 2 weeks late on my period (normal for me) and as soon as I started taking the maca I got mine. I dont know if it really helps or not. I have been TTC for 5 years now and my sister for about 9 years. I cant afford invitro or any high dollar fertlilty treatment. All my sonograms and hormone test were normal. The docs dont know why I cant get pregnant.....

Of course you should go down medical root, absolutely. But have you tried 'MACA' powder. It is a natural root/ food that normalises the hormone levels and seems to boost fertility.. I got pregnant first month of being on maca and I have continued to take it to keep progesterone levels up naturally. There are no actual hormones in it but it sparks your own system into producing hormones at levels body needs. If you key into Google lots will come up about it...

It is also safe for guys to take it to help with energy and libido as well and balance hormones in both female and male.

There are a couple of other natural things that are supposed to help balance hormone levels and thereby boost progesterone levels. Vitex and maca root. For me I noticed the most help from maca root. I spent 3 months starting first w/progesterone cream (which did nothing), then Prometrium (by itself did nothing at that point), then progesterone suppositories (also didn't help). P levels kept being between 4-6 at seven DPO.

I never heard of it helping sperm, but if ur looking for something to help try maca root..

Because my cbt told me medication balance you brain chemical and the psychiatry told the opposite cbt also balance your chemical problem . please answer me if any one has experienced that . in fact im not into drugs relif i wish that just cbt.

Hi, I've had 3 healthy pregnancies since turining 40, also 5 miscarriages but it is do-able :) I wouldnt take vitex or macca with DHEA, both of these things amongst other things they do, help balance out yur hormones, and DHEA is a hormone...

low progestrone level is the cause....and i also research this herb pill called MACA its all natural and balance hormone as it should be so u can look that up...I wish u all the luck as well...pray hard! Did all ur test came back ok?.....how many months r u now?....

You need to stop taking the pill and find alternate ways to balance your hormones. Maca root is great for this, as is vitex. But once you get that BFP stop taking them both!

Hey, Well a few ladies on the pregnancy forum and on here have been raving about a herb called MACA, ((the TMI bit!!)) iv always had very thick creamy CM and i ordered MACA off ebay it arrived about CD4 (im now on CD15) and i feel it really has helped me, CM is no longer thick, lots more energy and increased sex drive i feel its helping balance my hormones.

We do take supplements though and watch our eating habits very closely. I take Maca to even out the hormones and that worked well for quite some time and then my hormones went nutty on me again so I took a break from it and went back on and things seem to be settling right down again. What's up with your hubbie's hormones? He might want to research Maca too and see if it's something that might help him.

After that I returned to my normal cycle length but I have still been spotting from 5dpo until the cycle ends. I tried Maca root and vitex to balance my hormones but I'm started spotting two days ago. Also af went from 3 days to 4 days, not sure if it's related. So is this stopping me from having a baby do you think? Should I go get poked and prodded again to find out what is causing it?

ve only done a little research on Maca Root and found it does similiar hormonal balancing as Vitex. Maca Root is also great to enhance mens hormonal and sexual needs.
