Avatar n tn Low ferritin can cause negative reaction like palpitations, nervousness, and anxiety in someone starting thyroid hormone replacement. Someone described it like being shot out of a cannon. It is therefore imperative that ferritin not be at the bottom of the range before starting thyroid hormone medication.
Avatar f tn sure - its almost common sense after I went through horrible digestive issues myself. When a problem with the hormones T4 and T3 in the body are no longer at optimal levels the body slows considerably and the digestive track is effected. Diet plays a huge role when the body is slowing down and it requires you as a patient to help both issues... usually raising the T3 hormone back again and eliminating the "boggers" in your diet congesting things.
Avatar m tn After years trying to regulate these symptoms with different oral contraceptives, holistic treatments and large doses of Doxycycline and other antibiotics I discontinued my search for a cure. New insurance brought me to an alternative OBGYN that suggested (mostly for ease of use) that I try the Depo-Provera injections.
Avatar f tn Hi im 18 can my GP offer a hormone test as i feel i have a hormone balance or is this something you have to buy like a kit (i also have an under active thyroid)
Avatar f tn d try seeing a doctor first, then if nothing physiological is found you might try seeing someone in the holistic profession to see if you can balance your hormones. The best hormone testing is done by holistic nutritionists, not physicians, because they test you over time. And I'd get into some sort of counseling to learn how to deal better with the stress, because stress will always be there. If it's not one thing, it's another, that's just the way life is.
Avatar n tn After the 3 months, it caused 2 months of spotting and it unbalanced my hormones, also. I am seeing a holistic doctor who is helping me re-balance my hormones, but it is going to take some time. I have also gained about 15 in less than 2 months without changing my eating habits. I pretty much only eat meat, veggies, fruit, and eggs, with a little bit of wheat. I have been moody, extremely irritable, and have difficulty sleeping through the night.
Avatar n tn I would like to hear from anyone out there that may be facing these same issues and has suggestions about helping my body address these issues. I prefer homeopathic and holistic approaches to healing and strengthening the body.
Avatar f tn Lowe from the Fibromyalgia Research Foundation supports the premise that most fibromyalgia patients are either hypothyroid or thyroid hormone resistant. To rule this in or out you must forgo the standard serum thyroid testing (TSH, T3&T4) which only indicate... serum levels and ask for Free T3, Free T4 and Reverse T3 to test for accurate thyroid cellular FUNCTION! These may not have an insurance code, so you may have to pay out of pocket, but it is vital to have this done properly.
Avatar f tn No, I never thought you were being vague to annoy anyone. I just want to resolve my confusion before I end up putting my foot in my mouth! LOL I know how confusing this can be at first. Thyroid 101: T3 and T4 are the primary thyroid hormones. All T4 is made in the thyroid. It's the "storage" form of the thyroid hormones and basically floats around in your bloodstream until your cells need thyroid hormone.
Avatar f tn I have holistic doctor who has written a prescription for t3 which I filled. It states on T3 5mcg RF Capsules. I felt better than I had ever had when I first started Cytomel Over a year ago, but within a couple of months I had a lot big heart jumps (wasn't palpitations). So tried armour, but since I am so sensitive, I couldn't regulate, but I didn't have the heart jumps.
698356 tn?1240150727 I've been reading the book "Feeling Fat, Fuzzy, or Frazzled?" by Richard and Karilee Shames. It's got me thinking about the body as a whole (I do love holistic and osteopathic medicine!). How many of you have had other hormones checked? I've had cortisol checked but it was just an AM fasting level, which I've been reading and my DO tells me isn't truly indicative of whether or not a cortisol issue exists. Feel free to comment more about the types of tests.
Avatar f tn Thyroid replacement hormone, Such as Synthroid, can affect adrenal function and cause nausea, vomiting, fatigue, abdominal pain and other symptoms. She made need to take Hydrocortisone now, to balance with the Synthroid. She should have a thorough work-up done by her endocrinologist to examine adrenal function. In the meantime, you can try ginger tea, or slippery elm, to help with nausea and stomach upset. She may need sodium, if her adrenal function is suppressed.
200220 tn?1361951554 Yes I did have a med change a few weeks ago. He is giving me 37.5 Monday -Sat and 50 on Sun. He wanted me to wait 3 months I'm glad I didn't. I felt good at 4.4 basically when we were at the holistic doctor on the 4th He asked how I was 1-10 and I said a 5. I was handling what little depression I had and anxiety with the holistic stuff. After that it was all down hill.
Avatar m tn Thanks ginger! I'm not trying to fix anything tho, I'm just trying to support his overall health. Low testosterone is directly related to prostate cancer in us old guys. Its has many physiological benefits. I know from personal experience. Natural testosterone cream reduced my blood sugar, triglyceride and cholesterol levels to a normal range. My depression lifted and my enegry levels increased. When testosterone is converted to DHT and estrogen it can be problematic.
1770221 tn?1313958125 the next morning I woke up still dazed and losing my balance in the shower and throughout the day. I found out the bottle expired. Avatar f tn Women who have a healthy hormone balance tend to enjoy their lives the most. Hormone fluctuations can result in several problems such as perimenopausal difficulties, premenstrual syndrome, mood swings, fibroids, heart disease, breast cancer, and ovarian cysts. Usually, women don’t completely meet what their bodies need—food and exercise to reduce stress and feel better. Diet, nutrition, and workout are some of the common lifestyle changes that can help women restore hormone balance.
Avatar f tn By nature, birth control works by changing the hormone balance in your body. I believe in most cases it makes your body think you're pregnant so that you won't get pregnant. It's probably this change in hormone balance that's causing this. There are 2 possibilities: it could be that over time your body will adjust & you won't feel so sexually charged. Some women have a drop in their desire when on the pill. The other possibility is you could ask your Dr.
Avatar f tn Because you had a hysterectomy, the usual natural approach is more complex. I'd advise seeing a naturopath. The usual approach would be to use a trial and error approach with the great many herbs and "natural" hormones that are derived from the Mexican Wild Yam that help to balance hormones, but again, since you've had a hysterectomy, you might want to see a naturopath who knows more about what influence that has on the matter.
Avatar f tn When I researched, I found complaints on the internet about Nutro food making dogs sick. I like the idea of the holistic food, but got concerned when I read the complaints. Do you think this is a good food for dogs?

535882 tn?1396576685 t tell you what your hormone levels are. You really have to test over a couple of weeks. It varies through the day. A man has the most testosterone in the morning upon awakening, for example, so if you were tested then, it might show higher than your norm. The way doctors check hormone levels is completely inaccurate; holistic nutritionists will test it over a period of time, giving a much more accurate portrayal.
