583580 tn?1231136383 Hi everyone, I just have a question about hormonal changes in women. Here's a little background: I'm 28 (I'll be 29 in May 09), about 1 1/2 months ago I started experiencing some odd changes that have me scratching my head a little.
Avatar f tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn re right, BC pills are used frequently by dermatologists and gynecologists to control hormonal disorders in women, and acne is just one of them. However, taking ANY medication (other than the usual pain killers or other OTC drugs) by yourself without consulting a doctor first is foolhardy, esp those that work with hormones such as BC pills, and more so, when you're in your teens.
Avatar f tn Drinking lots of water, washing your face, avoiding sugary foods.
Avatar f tn do some women brake out or get acne when their prego?? like more than wat ud get wen ur about to get ur period?? nd y do they??
Avatar f tn Ugh acne! Some women get the pregnancy glow, others (like me) a rerun of adolescence! It should go away within a month or two. Keep washing your face and hairline with gentle product and ease up on any hair products that might be causing it. This too shall pass.
Avatar f tn I was just thinking, the fact that it only last a few days, could be due to hormonal changes, some women get acne right before or during their period, this could very well be the case for you.

Avatar n tn I am 25 (F) with a lot of acne problem on my face. i even did my hormonal test which hv shown normal results. i have tried everything else but nothing has help. i m getting married in 4 months. should i still consider hormonal treatment or go on accutane?
Avatar n tn It has totally gotten my acne under control. I developed acne/ cyst on my face, shoulders, and lower back. Wal-mart has a generic version that works just as well. I sat in the Endo's office furious / confused/frustrated. Bottom line is the doctors still don't quite understand what exactly causes auto-immune diseases and why it affects women differently. There is no cure just the ability to treat symptoms. I have personally found that each Dr. has their opinion and theory.
Avatar f tn Anyways, I went to my doctor multiple times in a desperate attempt to find a pill or medication that could clear my acne, and was even considering Accutane during that bout of acne last year (doc said no because I was on antidepressants at the time). I've tried everything from clindamycin to minocyclin to tretinoin to bactrim (which gave me a rash and high fever, turns out I'm allergic to it) to birth control pills... to no avail.
Avatar n tn Acne bumps often heal slowly and new bumps typically appear as the older ones vanish, according to MayoClinic.com. Your risk is highest for acne if you are a teenager, although women often face a high likelihood of the bumps due to hormonal changes linked with menstrual cycles, birth control pills and pregnancy. Red bumps on the cheeks or other parts of your body that fade and then reappear in different sizes often signal hives, or urticaria, says KidsHealth.org.
Avatar f tn So, I had to fill out a questionaire with a million questions before I see an RE at the end of the month. One of the questions was about acne, and whether I have it or not. What does having acne mean? (I've heard getting acne can be a sign of something, I just can't remember what) Lately, I've been having so many breakouts, and today noticed I had some back acne. Gross! I never had acne before.
1549562 tn?1304004489 t use any kind of scrub or exfoliant and this type of acne is hormonal, simply wash with a mild face wash and use a water based moisturizer (I use Cetaphil for normal to oily skin) I don't have the same problem with my hair as it is growing like crazy and is super thick and soft, but a hot oil treatment will help with the dryness or (this is kinda gross) i have heard of women putting mayo on their hair to add oil and shine!
Avatar f tn I start taking this and it finally help with my terrible acne. I have acne in my back, face and chest. Some its really deep and leave marks everywhere. Go to a dermatologis, and try different treatments. Good luck!!!
Avatar f tn t know if your hairloss is autoimmune or hormonal or both. Do you have any other symptoms - greasy hair, itchy head with dandruff, hairloss at a certain time during your cycle, acne (especially around the jawline, back, etc. ) If your hairloss is all over your head that is considered diffuse patterned. Are you having any intestinal issues? I know celiac disease can cause that type of hairloss also. Do you have female family members with early hairloss?
Avatar m tn thank you Binx. You make me feel better. But the cysts won't go? Is that your experience or what they told you? What about later in life - ยก will that effect having children?
Avatar m tn Are you watching your diet-getting lots of water, fruit, veggies? Have you tried different facial cleaners/soaps?
1303813 tn?1303159362 Follow a low GI diet because balancing blood sugar leels can improve insulin resistance, Try to lose excess weight - even a modest loss of about 1 st (6kg) can correct hormonal abnormalities, reduce acne and unwanted hair and improve fertility. Regular exercise helps to overcome insulin resistance in muscle cells and can also improve mose PCS symptoms. GPs sometimes perscrie a drug called Metformin which can imporve insulin sensitivity.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 22 year old female who suffered from bulimia for almost 2 years. Over the past 12 months I have been in recovery (dramatically reduced episodes from daily to monthly) , and over the past 2-3 months I have been completely bulimia free. During my bulimia I lost my periods completely and it is only since I started recovering 12 months ago that they returned.
Avatar m tn In my opinion i would wait it out because all the reviews ive read about hormonal acne and not cystic acne have said that it took at least 3 months to clear their skin completely.
Avatar m tn I had been prescribed a supplement for the treatment of acne and the salts in that supplement contain myo -inositol, D-Chiron Inositol, Chromium and Vitamin D3 and I have been taking these for 3 months now. I haven't been diagnosed with any PCOS or hormonal imbalance in my reports. Is it safe to take these supplements without any side effects as i read on internet these supplements are used for PCOS treatment mainly.
Avatar n tn Their products have sulfuric acid and salicylic which kills bacteria, heals the breakouts and prevents any more breakouts from coming through. If nothing works for you its because they are hormonal and hormonal cannot be cured with products because it is a bodily function....
Avatar f tn Oh welcome to the club. Sorry my face so awful till 10 or 11 weeks that was unreal. I'm 34 and still having adult acne on top of hormonal acne. They can't give you too much stuff like meds for it right now. You gotta hold on and later it should get better. After I delivered my 2nd baby my face was awful again. Yeah ... hormonal craziness. But I use tea tree oil pads off of amazon to clean my face with. Very natural and it does help to reduce inflammation.
Avatar n tn I'm 17 years old this will be my first. Currently I'm 12 weeks 4 days and I've been getting acne; I know it might be because I'm still a teen but I never had it before. So can you get it from being pregnant? I do take care of my skin and body. Is there any way I can prevent it?
