Hormonal acne while breastfeeding

Common Questions and Answers about Hormonal acne while breastfeeding

acne

Avatar f tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
428506 tn?1296557399 The medicine keeps your skin from reacting to hormonal changes. Mine is related to hormonal changes (old age) ! The pattern is different than what you guys describe .
624939 tn?1246343383 Hi Doris, I wish I knew which vitamins would or even could help bring your Prolactin levels down. I would think your doctor should be giving you something to help balance your hormones. I don't know what other hormones Prolactin levels are balanced against so I couldn't tell you. The only thing I know about Prolactin is that it's higher in pregnant women and has something to do with breastfeeding (I think).
5793521 tn?1378043101 yes i know this is a pregnancy forum but since a lot of you ladies already have kiddos I thought I'd ask here plus the breastfeeding community isn't as active :p ....So anyways my daughter is 3 months old now and I still haven't had a period yet? The weird thing is that after giving birth to her I bled for about 3 weeks and then it stopped. I then started bleeding again 2 days before my 6 weeks appointment.
Avatar n tn I'm 17 years old this will be my first. Currently I'm 12 weeks 4 days and I've been getting acne; I know it might be because I'm still a teen but I never had it before. So can you get it from being pregnant? I do take care of my skin and body. Is there any way I can prevent it?
Avatar n tn I believe the correlation comes from the release of androgen hormones in your body when you rapidly lose fat. While there are no studies confirming or denying that there is an increase in acne breakouts while taking phentermine, enough people have experienced it, to provide a definite correlation.
Avatar f tn So i understand that i may not get my period while breastfeeding and I am planning on doing it for about 6 months to a year depending on how things go. what im worried about is getting pregnant again so soon. my husband can pretty much get me pregnant by just looking at me, will i know when im ovulating? if i did get pregnant quickly would it be bad that the lining didnt shed for so many months?
Avatar f tn I don't believe they are typically related, however, alcoholism can severely throw your system out of alignment (as can withdrawal for a little while) - diet, sleep patterns, social activities - EVERYTHING is going through a change so, I'd try to consider what is causing the acne? Hormonal changes, oily skin, change of season, new skin lotions/creams, etc... and work in reverse order.
Avatar f tn With my first I had acne so bad nothing worked not even proactive its hormonal there's really nothing that you can do. After my daughter was born it cleared right up and my huge swollen nose went away too. Best of luck and congrats!!!
Avatar n tn I am 25 (F) with a lot of acne problem on my face. i even did my hormonal test which hv shown normal results. i have tried everything else but nothing has help. i m getting married in 4 months. should i still consider hormonal treatment or go on accutane?
Avatar f tn Anyways, I went to my doctor multiple times in a desperate attempt to find a pill or medication that could clear my acne, and was even considering Accutane during that bout of acne last year (doc said no because I was on antidepressants at the time). I've tried everything from clindamycin to minocyclin to tretinoin to bactrim (which gave me a rash and high fever, turns out I'm allergic to it) to birth control pills... to no avail.
Avatar f tn I too am breaking out, luckily for me I am an esthetician.. I use all murad products and they work really well for me. I use an exfoliating acne treatment gel as well as a clarifying mask a couple times a week. It really works for me. If you want to try it out you can purchase the acne kit and test it out. It is a lot cheaper than purchasing these two products and that one comes with 4 products. It is a 30 day trial kit.
Avatar f tn So, I had to fill out a questionaire with a million questions before I see an RE at the end of the month. One of the questions was about acne, and whether I have it or not. What does having acne mean? (I've heard getting acne can be a sign of something, I just can't remember what) Lately, I've been having so many breakouts, and today noticed I had some back acne. Gross! I never had acne before.
Avatar m tn The appearance of pubic hair happens at around 13.5 years of age while hair under the arms, on the face, voice change, and acne around 15 years of age. I hope this helps. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this). She does Cortosone injections on occasion for the cysts because I cannot, for the life of me, leave my face alone.
Avatar f tn m 8 months PP and still on the mini pill while breastfeeding, no issues. you want a non hormonal birth control while breastfeeding.
964234 tn?1331949207 I did not get my period until I stopped breastfeeding. I also continued on the mini pill after I stopped breastfeeding this last time. While it was effective at preventing pregnancy I found that when I did stop it my cycle was all screwed up for several months and I've NEVER had that problem coming off of BCP. Personally I'm not fond of IUD's or patches or any of that stuff. I'm not wanting to go on any type of hormonal birth control this time.
Avatar f tn I start taking this and it finally help with my terrible acne. I have acne in my back, face and chest. Some its really deep and leave marks everywhere. Go to a dermatologis, and try different treatments. Good luck!!!
2194701 tn?1432394206 t know if you can use to while breastfeeding, but I am on y he patch and love it.
Avatar n tn I have acne all over my face and have had it for a while. Just when it looked like it was clearing up it got worse.
Avatar f tn t want to start on hormonal methods again after baby arrives. I was wondering how many of you ladies became pregnant while still breastfeeding? I plan on making my husband use condoms during my most fertile times, so breastfeeding won't be the only thing I'm relying on, I just don't need to do hormones anymore. Was on the pill for 10 years before becoming pregnant...
6918915 tn?1395932871 I know your hormone levels don't return to exactly normal while breastfeeding. I only breastfed my first for 6 weeks so I don't really know much about it and since I am planning on breastfeeding this baby longer I'm wondering which pregnancy symptoms arent quite going to go away until I'm done breastfeeding? Moodiness? Dark blue veins all over? Constipation? Skin darkening? Anemia? Bleeding gums? Appetite? RLS? Etc.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know a good way to get rid of acne while being pregnant? I was told typical acne washes with sasilic acid is not good to use while pregnant. suggestions? i wash my face with a plain white facial bar but it does NO Good!
Avatar f tn Inverted nipples are often harder to nurse with. However, you are having hormonal changes that are producing breast discharge and not what you'd feed a baby right now. This is very common. Even non pregnant women will have this same thing you do due to hormonal issues (and pregnancy is majorly hormonal, remember). Your milk will come in after you give birth. what you have now doesn't indicate one way or the other your milk supply but don't worry about that.
384896 tn?1335294331 The american college of obstetrics and gynecology recommends progestin only birth control while breastfeeding such as depo provera and minipills. Progestin birth control may actually increase your milk supply where as birth control pills containing estrogen have been shown to reduce your supply of breast milk so try to avoid those. So, stay away from those. Another option is LAM, lactional amenorrhea method: Breastfeeding doesn't have to be a hindrance to birth control.
Avatar f tn Could all of this inflammation + weight gain + inability to lose weight+ insomnia + acne indicate an increase in cortisol and or a hormonal imbalance? I saw my doctor who is an internist and pediatrician and he ACTUALLY laughed in my face. I am seeing on the internet that seems to be the norm.
Avatar n tn Please someone help has anyone had really bad acne while pregnant my face before pregnancy was great only had the odd spot here and there but now I can't seem to get rid of them any advice will be sooo good right now ....
