Common Questions and Answers about Hormonal acne symptoms

acne

Avatar n tn Hi, Yes, acne is one of the common symptoms caused by PCOS and my daughter suffered with severe acne until Clearlight completely cured it. So, I highly recommend it as it was the best thing that ever happened for her.
Avatar f tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn So, I had to fill out a questionaire with a million questions before I see an RE at the end of the month. One of the questions was about acne, and whether I have it or not. What does having acne mean? (I've heard getting acne can be a sign of something, I just can't remember what) Lately, I've been having so many breakouts, and today noticed I had some back acne. Gross! I never had acne before.
Avatar f tn Hello~To my knowledge, masturbation does NOT cause these symptoms or issues. I would see your physician regarding them as they may be due to hormonal issues, thyroid or other problems.
Avatar m tn ve always had OCD as a child, but when I hit age 15, my OCD symptoms got worse along with my social anxiety. The same time that happened, I got acne and got kinda uglier as well. So that makes me think puberty imbalance hormones did this to me. I also got depressed and used to be very happy (Not because of the acne or getting uglier! just how I started feeling). Has anyone ever heard of this happening, as well as the person getting better once they're out of puberty and reached adulthood?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 22 year old female who suffered from bulimia for almost 2 years. Over the past 12 months I have been in recovery (dramatically reduced episodes from daily to monthly) , and over the past 2-3 months I have been completely bulimia free. During my bulimia I lost my periods completely and it is only since I started recovering 12 months ago that they returned.
Avatar n tn I am 25 (F) with a lot of acne problem on my face. i even did my hormonal test which hv shown normal results. i have tried everything else but nothing has help. i m getting married in 4 months. should i still consider hormonal treatment or go on accutane?
1388445 tn?1289267388 Hello, Acne after the age of 30 or more is referred to as Adult Acne. They occur due to hormonal imbalance at this age. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face.
Avatar f tn Anyways, I went to my doctor multiple times in a desperate attempt to find a pill or medication that could clear my acne, and was even considering Accutane during that bout of acne last year (doc said no because I was on antidepressants at the time). I've tried everything from clindamycin to minocyclin to tretinoin to bactrim (which gave me a rash and high fever, turns out I'm allergic to it) to birth control pills... to no avail.
Avatar f tn Is there an effective way to treat acne for those with fibromyalgia? My dermatologists have tried quite the variety of treatments for the acne with no success. The acne isn't cystic, but a bit more problematic than mild acne. Also, a sulfa allergy limits that option for treatment. Current regimen includes Azelex (for redness and inflammation) and Tretinoin. I'm curious if there is an effective treatment that takes the fibromyalgia into consideration.
Avatar f tn Yes.. my husband gets the cravings. .
Avatar f tn I start taking this and it finally help with my terrible acne. I have acne in my back, face and chest. Some its really deep and leave marks everywhere. Go to a dermatologis, and try different treatments. Good luck!!!
1326513 tn?1276518001 PCOS can cause depression and anxiety, due to the symptoms you go through each and every month. I have a feeling, even if you DON'T have PCOS, you most likely have some type of hormonal inbalance. Acne is due to an unstable in hormones as well as the excess faical hair. I feel for you with the acne...I've had some pretty bad cases of it, but my hormones are being controled with birth control and Metformin (metformin, is a commonly used medication for those who have diabetes....
Avatar f tn try eating oatmeal and cut out sugar...I started eating oatmeal and my skin cleared very nicely. I have hormonal acne, I don't use any topical medication as it is b.s.! I can tell you one thing, if you are over 30 and still have acne...there is probably a hormonal imbalance. Think about balancing youself from within. Diet and excersize increase my blood circulation and improve my skin drastically.
Avatar f tn It is probably hormonal. The swellings and acne you are describing are in your T-zone, a very common place for these kinds of skin conditions. If this is a chronic condition, your best bet is to see a dermatologist.
118884 tn?1270474779 I am by no means an expert, but I have spent many hours researching my own acne/womanly issues. I've read about some of the symptoms you're describing in certain hormonal disorders such as Cushing's Syndrome and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. If I were you I would tell (not ask) my OB/GYN to test my hormone levels to check for any abnormalities. If that doesn't help, I'd see about getting a referral to an Endocrinologist for a more complete screening. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Could all of this inflammation + weight gain + inability to lose weight+ insomnia + acne indicate an increase in cortisol and or a hormonal imbalance? I saw my doctor who is an internist and pediatrician and he ACTUALLY laughed in my face. I am seeing on the internet that seems to be the norm.
Avatar n tn I had IUD put in The end of June 2009..Recently I have noticed a lot of "issues" I dont know why I am having these problems...Dizzy, lightheaded, headaches, sleepy, unhappy, irritable, on edge, sometimes feel like I have no strength to even walk...I do have a thyroid disorder and I am on medication for it as well as vitamin B ...I am not pregnant but I have almost every symptom I had during pregnancy even hot flashes.
Avatar m tn ve attributed these to previously suffering from late hormonal acne which was treated successfully with acutane some years ago, so I have the old battleground to deal with combined with a habit of picking at things. Excema that flairs up on thighs, mid-riff and eyelids, which seems to be triggered primariliy by stress. Difference spots on my body seem to even relate to different emotional stress loads.
Avatar m tn Are you watching your diet-getting lots of water, fruit, veggies? Have you tried different facial cleaners/soaps?
Avatar m tn i am a teenager girl 17years old. i have acne problem and oily skin and acne scars i have tried everything and every treatment nothing happend.so how should i cure my acne and my acne scares and oily skin.
Avatar m tn I had been prescribed a supplement for the treatment of acne and the salts in that supplement contain myo -inositol, D-Chiron Inositol, Chromium and Vitamin D3 and I have been taking these for 3 months now. I haven't been diagnosed with any PCOS or hormonal imbalance in my reports. Is it safe to take these supplements without any side effects as i read on internet these supplements are used for PCOS treatment mainly.
Avatar f tn Oh welcome to the club. Sorry my face so awful till 10 or 11 weeks that was unreal. I'm 34 and still having adult acne on top of hormonal acne. They can't give you too much stuff like meds for it right now. You gotta hold on and later it should get better. After I delivered my 2nd baby my face was awful again. Yeah ... hormonal craziness. But I use tea tree oil pads off of amazon to clean my face with. Very natural and it does help to reduce inflammation.
