Common Questions and Answers about Home rehab and mobility

rehab

Avatar m tn Should he be checked into a physical rehab facility to try to lose weight and gain more mobility? With his drinking, I doubt this would be feasible. I feel if he was able to lose weight that many of his problems would decrease in severity. Thanks for any guidance.
Avatar f tn Staples will be removed on Tuesday, 12/2, and I am hoping I will have more mobility. In the long run, I believe the surgery was needed, because the spondy and the stenosis was compacting my spine, and who is to say what I would be when I am 65. Any ideas of what to do with pain sensation relief. My best to all of you who have had complications with the fusion.
Avatar f tn s worth it! Ask JR - he had entire left side paralysis and was told by VA Rehab (after 5 months of rehab) that they didn't know of anything else that would help him. After 4 months on an eVO motor assisted stationary cycle he began regaining movement. He's been on it for over a year and is back to work. He is still doing his own therapy and adjusting how he does it to get the outcome he wants. See Assistive Therapy Solutions eVO video 3 on the front page. You have to keep moving!
Avatar m tn The 2 weeks were filled with stiffness, immediate mobility loss, nagging pain, no swelling, loss of grip strength, and pain when spreading fingers. Most terrible symptom was pain when pushing on bottom of hand like if i were to do a push-up. After 2 weeks and no improvement, i visited the doctor under the impression that i had broken one of the carpal bones inside of the wrist.
Avatar f tn after my stepmothers last relapse the day after easter, I asked the neurologist and the dr after I had researched rehab places for to go to that specifically specialized in MS therapy and she was sent there to do her rehab she was there two weeks and they worked with her on her writing abilities they made her pen to where she could write with it and her writing has gotten better she does pt and ot three times a week where they work with her on her walking and her cognitive skills such as memory
Avatar m tn t really any significant amount of rehab for a stroke patient. Once or twice they have come over and asked how he is today and if he says he didn't sleep well they say 'oh ok, well we won't bother you right now then' and that's it for that day.
Avatar n tn We recently had him evaluated to see if he could stay in his home with a lot of stairs. The therapists said it was ok as long as he limited his trips up and down. Right after their evaluation we received the recommendation for the valve repair. I have read this can be a long road to recovery, especially for the elderly. I know this is a VERY individualized question, but what should expect as a window for recovery time? Are we looking at several months of being in a rehab?
Avatar m tn However, the last time I went to see him in August, he discussed taking out the hardware in my left knee since it is causing pain and slowing down my rehab in mobility. I am all for this, as I think it will in fact help me in my mobility. I am now going to physio 5 times a week and I admit that I have made remarkable progress thus far. I am walking short distances with no walker and on very little pain meds.
5987839 tn?1381922502 has anyone had similar issues with prior spasticity in an area where they then had surgery? What was recovery like, with the MS? Should I be worried about the MS "reacting" to the surgery?
Avatar m tn ve gone to the docs and the physical therapists and I have more mobility and range of motion than most people. Yet, I still hurt. Sometimes we just can't do certain thing anymore. Peace.

1511199 tn?1292701545 Hey all. I can't post a lot right now, but let's just say I f-ed up big time again. Wifey and Best Friend found out, called my parents, now they are worried sick about me. Everyone's saying it's time to go to Rehab, and while I'm scared to death, I think it may be the right thing. I've said before "Oh I can do this I can taper" but I wind up sneaking them away from Wifey and/or buying them off the street! What is wrong with me?! Ahhh I just want to scream.
Avatar n tn Hi decosta, This is something that needs to be addressed by a physiotherapist, they will do mobility rehab with you, required stretches and exercises with your legs to train them back into moving in the correct way. The sooner you start the therapy, the better the recovery will be.
Avatar n tn I broke my right ankle in January. I had a long leg cast applied at first, but the fibia separated when the swelling went down. The doctor had me go in for surgery and I had to have a plate and pins put in. That was done on Valentine's Day. When the staples were removed, he had me in a boot, so that I could bath. I had an appointment today and he wants me to start walking on the foot and doing some exercises to strengthen and help with the mobility of my ankle.
Avatar m tn There is also talk of what your treatment plan entails, if you plan on going into rehab and meetings and such. All places are quite different in their approach.
233622 tn?1279334905 Since I started taking Avonex I have noticed a decrease in numbness in my hands, face, and midsection! That is good news but my mobility continues to be a progressing problem.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your comment! Actually, I have no pain that I can think of and my joints don't bother me. I'm 60 and for the past couple of years, I've noticed weakness in my legs and now it is difficult to get my legs moving sometimes after sitting awhile. No other complaints. I've wondered what is wrong with old people when I see them in wheel chairs and walkers and I wonder if I'll be one of those people one day.
Avatar n tn I am scared, have been thrown out of my home and am losing both my girls. Pregant, no home and need to get back into treatment asap. My question is, does anyone know what the process would be being as I am pregnant? I have state insurance and it paid for my last treatment, but the places aren't that great. I am assuming I am going to be there for a while. Are there rehabs that you can go to if you have no insurance? Does anyone know of any really good ones?
Avatar f tn After going home from the inpatient rehab center, is it necessary to follow up with visiting the the outpatient rehab center regularly or just continue at home the rehab exercise which be taught at rehab center?
