Avatar m tn I had unprotected sex with a girl in a massage parlor in San Jose CA. She agreed after being very reluctant and I have been getting a usual massage from her for the past 6 years. It just this one time she agreed and we had condomless sex. After 3 days, I have body aches and slight fever and feeling viral-like symptoms. I am worried now about HIV exposure. What are my chances of contracting the virus and what testing should I do?
Avatar n tn I’m a married adult white male I live in San Jose, Ca. Before my wife and I were together we both got tested for HIV/STD’s and were negative for everything. Last week I did something I have always just wanted to try. I hooked up w/ a transsexual prostitute (man with boobs). I saw her under erotic services on craigslist and called her late one night (she was Mexican, very beautiful & looked like a woman).
Avatar m tn The key feature about this Forum is that we individually address the facts that are presented to us rather than just giving a generic - yes/no approach. So you will get some variation in what Jose and I say. 99% of people will form antibodies to HIV 1 and 2 by 6 weeks. In the EU the rapid tests are licensed for conclusive results after 12 weeks - however we know that they are better than that - hence the apparent conflict between what Jose says and what I have said.
Avatar m tn yes, the negative results are conclusive. You have not been infected with HIV. You are HIV negative without any doubt and you do not need to have any further test. You need to forget about it and move on now.

Avatar m tn No, I don't believe that there is any chance this could be HIV, and it certainly doesn't sound like any sexually-transmitted disease. It does sound like intertrigo, which is a chafing rash, not a yeast or fungus. I can't tell you why it has become a problem now, but I suspect that at least part of the intensity of your itching comes from the fact that you're worried that you have a serious problem when you almost certainly don't.
Avatar n tn Only in San Jose it started, Would jogging and exercise help? I have not been sweating in San Jose like I used to in Chennai, India as San Jose is not humid. Do you think this plays any part?
Avatar m tn Hi Doc, I recently posted in HIV forum as I was concerned over the risk of unprotected oral sex that I received, this was answered by DR Jose, who said I don't need testing for HIV as it posed No risk, however he said that I should undertake testing for STD's since then I have tested for Cyhlmidia, Gonerhea at 2weeks 6 days post exposure via swab= Negative and Syphilis via blood test at 3 weeks 4 days this was Negative, I have read conflicting things regarding window periods and would l
Avatar n tn This is most common with HPV where women usually go several years without it showing up on tests. HIV is the same, and it is usually recommended to continue testing for years to be sure, if you think you could have been exposed." 1) How accurate is the above statement? 2) I had a brief possible exposure in the U.S. (vaginal intercourse/unknown status/condom broke) about 4.5 months ago.
Avatar m tn I will answer to your question first of all in English and then will translate it into Spanish. We normally answer in English in the International UK forums. First of all I would say that your sexual encounter posed a relatively low risk for HIV infection, around 0.1% (1 in 1,000) as an insertive unprotected vaginal intercourse, and that would be assuming that the lady was HIV positive.
Avatar m tn Just to point out, you have now posted on the HIV Prevention Community site, not the International HIV site where you posted your earlier questions. Thus I am not Dr. Jose whom you have interacted with earlier. I have reviewed your prior interactions with him and agree with all that he has told you. At test at 74 days following exposure is proof that you did not get HIV and you need not be concerned further.
Avatar n tn Do you know of a good ocularplastic specialis in somewhere between San Jose California and San Francisco? If you have had it done, how did it work? What can you tell me about this surgical procedure?
