Common Questions and Answers about Hiv testing history

Avatar m tn I am just being curious here but has any one in recorded history ever gotten HIV from "fingering" or a handjob. It just seems that a lot of us have been exposed to this level. Around the hand most people have little scrapes or loose skin generally due to the norms of life either as part of what we do at work or through normal everyday household chores and thsu the concern for most of us. Would anybody on this forum know or have heard of transmission via these exual activities.
Avatar m tn Cyclosporine Opthalmic Emulsion .05%. I have taken two Oraquick home tests and they both came up negative for hiv. Would the Cyclosporine be able to cause a false negative?
Avatar n tn It is not possible to have HIV and have both negative HIV RNA testing and negative HIV antibody testing at the times your tests were done. I repeat: not possible. And test results always overrule symptoms and exposure history. The tests prove beyond all doubt that you did not catch HIV. Believe the results. You are home free and do not need any additional testing.
Avatar m tn m questioning her sexual history. What is risk of HIV? How long should I wait to get the full gambit of STD tests, Herpes, HIV, etc? Didn't take care of myself and I'm worried.
Avatar m tn I had an HIV rapid antibody test today which was negative. My recent sexual history is: 13 weeks after unprotected vaginal sex with woman #1 5 weeks after condom protected sex, unprotected oral with woman #2 1 week after fingering a woman (inserted fingers into vagina with possible hangnail) with woman #3 Is this test final, conclusive proof that I DO NOT have HIV? Is any further testing necessary? I'm entering into a monogamous relationship and want to be 100% certain I am HIV free.
Avatar f tn t share hollow needles to inject with which is the only other way to acquire hiv. Analysis of large numbers of infected people over the 40 years of hiv history has proven that people don't get hiv in the way you are worried is a risk. HIV is a fragile virus in air or saliva and is effectively instantly dead in either air or saliva so the worst that could happen is dead virus rubbed you, and obviously anything which is dead cannot live again so you are good.
Avatar m tn You seem to have a history of high anxiety over HIV, STDs, and infectious diseases, so let's clear up the HIV risks once and for all. As an adult, the only risks for HIV are: 1) having unprotected, penetrative vaginal or anal sex, or 2) sharing IV drug needles with other IV drug users. You had NO RISK for HIV and you do not need to test. You can safely disregard any sexual events that do not involve unprotected, penetrative sex.
Avatar n tn hiv is not transmitted from oral sex, body massages, or happy endings. testing is not needed from what you have described.
Avatar m tn These questions were answered by Dr. Hook on the STD forum. HIV testing always overrules symptoms and exposure history. There are no HIV types not detected by the tests you had, and there are medical or other conditions that change the timing or reliability of HIV test results. Your results prove you don't have HIV and that something else explains your symptoms. There won't be any further comments or discussion.
Avatar n tn that your risk, even before testing was small and with the test results you have, it almost certain that you did not get HIV from the exposures you describe. While I will comment on the facts contributing to my statements, I want to comment before that I am saddened to hear of the reaction and comments made at the clinic you went to. It really was rather unprofessional and that is really too bad. As for your risks, let's put things into perspective: 1.
Avatar n tn Is anyone knowledgable about PCR testing. If an individual is HIV+ without antibodies or meds to keep it in check, how soon after infection would a PCR RNA or a PCR DNA detect the virus? For how long would the virus be detectable without the antibodies or meds? It seems that the docs on the various hiv web sites avoid giving definite answers to questions related to PCR testing, with the exception of "they are not approved for diagnosing HIV.
Avatar f tn With all HIV tests in routine use, if testing is done sufficiently long after the last possible exposure, the results outweigh all other considerations, such as exposure history and symptoms. Even if your partner had HIV (statistically, it is unlikely she did) and even if your symptoms were typical (you don't describe them, so I can't judge), the negative oral fluids antibody tests at both 6 and 8 weeks were 100% reliable.
Avatar m tn El salvador has the second highest rates of HIV infection of all central American countries and they should know that testing at 6 months is not required at all.Your government has spent alot of money promoting safe sex in high risk areas, targeting high risk groups.0.8% of the population is HIV+.
Avatar f tn Respected all I had an unfortunate incidence with CSW in India where the condom broke .I was immediately put on PEP in 3 hours .post PEP I have tested NEGATIVE on 8th,10th and 12th (hiv duo p24 and hiv 1/2) test .there are lot of confusions .cdc guidelines have changed for occupational exposure that post PEP 3 months hiv test through 4th gen test is conclusive .I wish to know that still cdc publish 1,3 and 6 months post exposure in case of PEP.

Avatar m tn No one got HIV from touching or oral activities in 40 years of HIV history, so likely no one will in the next 40 years of your life either.
Avatar n tn Your compulsive testing needs to stop. Test results ALWAYS overrule symptoms and exposure history, as long as testing is suffiiently long after the last possible exposure. The negative PCR test at 20 days and negative antibody test at 3 months provved without doubt that you were not infected. No matter what symptoms you had or may have in the future, they can be ignored in relation to HIV.
Avatar f tn Hello, and happy new year. I am currently in a new relationship with a girl I really like. We took things slowly and are having unprotected sex. We had a conversation about past partners and we trust one another that we aren't seeing anyone else. Everything was good, but suddenly I think I have the flu and it started my mind down a bad path. Her last partner (actually her ex husband) was a heroine user. Supposedly he only smoked it. But now I'm concerned that maybe he was using needles.
Avatar m tn Here's what Dr.HHH told you: "Headache is not an HIV symptom, and especially cannot be the only symptom. " He also warned you about excessive posting, and alerted you that you are not allowed to post on the expert forum for at least a year. Looking through your posting history, it's VERY clear you have a SERIOUS anxiety issue relating to HIV. You need to seek help for that.
