Avatar m tn Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results
Avatar m tn The result was negative and my life changed from that day. The test was done around 3.75 months after the possible exposure. My questions: 1. The nurse told me that it is 95% accurate? Does that mean I have to re-test after 6 months? 2. Are blood Rapid tests as accurate as other standard HIV tests? 3. Can it be a false negative? 4. Can I move on and have a regular physical relation with me wife?

Avatar m tn Dear Dr, I got tested at 12 weeks of a protected encounter (unaware of the nature of the condom).. It showed negative in rapid card hiv 1 & 2 test.. Then ECLIA&CLIA duo test at 14 weeks also showed negative.. Is this conclusive? Do ars occur after 12 weeks? Kindly reply.. I am anxious..
Avatar n tn So I took a 3 month test for HIV. It came out negative, I went to the city clinic and they did an ELISA test on me by BIORAD that's the company that makes the test I think. And the main reason I posted is because I want to know whether ELISA's also test for HIV 2... That's my main questions, do ELISA's test for hiv 2 or just 1? I'm wondering because my risk exposure was out side the US. Also do you recommend testing in another 3 months just to be safe?
1883607 tn?1320772162 Hi Doctor, I had exposure last 4 months back. I did ELISA test after 3 months and got negative. still i have some white patch on tounge. Is this test is conclusive? I also did PCR test after 2 weeks of exposure also negative. very much worried because I read that it will take 6 months in rare case. So what are the rare case situation?
Avatar m tn Any test after 12 weeks of exposure is conclusive.. hiv not diagnosed by symptoms . You do not need to test again . No need to be scared cause you do not have hiv .
Avatar f tn I have received a negative test result( hiv express test) after 3 months of possible exposure.I am not sure if the person was HIV positive or not but he suffered a recent episode of prolonged fever, chills that would not go away after 10 days ,even with taking Tamiflu and eventually had to take antibiotics under the suspicion of having a sinus infection not well treated. He says he had a blood test done and the results were good.He has not done an HIV test but rather a CBC.
Avatar n tn i was wonder how conclusive the 3 month antibody test is. i tested negative 5 months post exposure. i recently developed pneumonia and i read on the internet that thats an early indication of an infection? any truth? please help. i thought i was done with worrying.
Avatar m tn I have been HIV tested four times since the encounter, the most recent 3 months after possible infection. Should I stop worrying or should I go get another test after 6 months? I have read many articles and some say 3 months sufficient, others say minimum 6 months. If I hadn’t developed the skin problem, I wouldn’t be worrying after the 3 month test.

Avatar m tn After a negative ab test at 3 months after a low risk vaginal unprotected... I was feeling safe but there are so many sites out there that still say test out to 6 months.. I know here it's 3 months conclusive are the other sites just out dated or are they misinformed.. i have read that there is no medical reasons for it to take more than 3 months,,,,,,,, P.S.. I don't mean to brake a rule here just need to know your thoughts on this.... thanks....
Avatar m tn i respect ur answer but it depends upon what is ones risk and what type of test he is taking. My counsellor who works in a govt. hospital, under national aids, who advised me for 6 months test, there may be some reason behind it.????
Avatar m tn pdf Page 11 #4 In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure.
Avatar n tn I originally visited a sex worker and had unprotected oral and protected vaginal. I somehow managed to wait for 11 weeks and 4 days before my standard lab blood HIV antibody test, which was negative. I also had a straight handjob from a masseuse about a week ago, with oil. no other contact. Whats the chance I had a false negative? did I need to wait more time? Is a handjob a risk for ANY STD at all?
Avatar n tn Your HIV test result proves you didn't catch HIV 3 months earlier. All the rest of the information you provide makes no difference. Test results always outweigh symptoms and other forms of risk assessment. Whether or not your partner had HIV, and regardless of how high risk she might have been, the test result proves you weren't infected. Same for symptoms, which don't sound muck like HIV anyway. The WBC counts also don't matter, but they are normal.
