Now I am afraid of HIV. After 4 weeks I went to the doctor for testing. It was a test oft the 3rd generation and it was negative. 4 and a half week after the exposure I became a very bad sore throat that still lasts. So I went for retesting on day 35. It was a test for Ag and Ab. It was again negative. So my questions are: - Are the tests conclusive? - Does the sore throat in week 5 sound like ars (for you)? - Can I have unprotected sex with a hiv negative person from now on.

thankyou but my worry is bein ill very ill after neg test and im thinkin the test never picked it up would it av picked up something in the p24 im thinkin i had ars at 6 weeks so the test at 5 weeks was no good would u test again and how accurate are those tests thankyou

I had an encounter with a csw, after that i started to panic as it was mu first time i had been with a sexual worker. At 5 weeks i took an hiv test which came back negative, but i think it only tested for antibodies. Right now at week 10 i started to develop sore throat, lymph nodes and trush. Hello The Lab did together a Dou Test with my rapit Test at 11 Weeks and 5 Days. The Duo Test confirmed yesterday my rapit Test as it was negative is well. Thanks to everybody in this Forum and a happy new Years to you all!!

t useless but 8 weeks and beyond is much better. At 5 weeks your about 60%. 12 weeks is considered conclusive.

Not an expert but I have done some research, HIV symptoms usually occur between 2 and 6 weeks (Most of the cases are about 3 weeks) 5 months is super late for symptoms. By now any test you take would be considered accurate and conclusive (if you took a test 3 months post exposure or a 4th generation 6 weeks post exposure then you are negative), oral thrush may be due to some other problems, not HIV related alone. It was a rapid test where they took blood from a vein and I believe it was a duo because they said it could pick up a positive result after 2 weeks.. Is this result reliable? At 5 weeks: HIV 1-2 AG/AB 3rd/4th generation test, that is the description of the test from the lab, I asumme is a 3rd. generation test for antigens and a 4th generation test for antibodies, I hope that you can clarify if this test exists. 2. At 6 weeks a 4th generation antibodies test. 3. At 8 weeks the same 4th generation antibodies test and a p24 antigen test. All of the test I took were negative.

I got a rapid HIV test at 5 weeks after exposure (came back negative). How reliable is it? I know it's not conclusive....but can I at least trust it? I heard that if you have symptoms, it means that you have developed anti bodies (example, lymph nodes swollen) in which case, it would have showed up on the test, right???
