Avatar f tn Hi, Last week I had a HIV test because I test every year since I am not in a stable relationship. My last previous test was Aug 2013 and said negative. Since then I have had unprotected sex with a man I was dating for a few months and then another, same situation. I don't know their history in detail, only tht they say they are negative. I also has my ear cartilage pierced in April but piercer uses sterile disposable needles.

Avatar m tn 04% per act or, in theory, about 4 cases of HIV transmission per every 10,000 acts of vaginal sex with a woman who is HIV positive) and male-to-female (.08% per act or 8 cases of HIV transmission per every 10,000 acts of vaginal sex with a man who is HIV positive) transmission estimates in high-income countries show a low risk of infection even when the person with HIV is not on antiretroviral treatments. https://www.hivlawandpolicy.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend tested positive for HSV-1 and HSV-2. He doesn't speak English well. Is there an accurate Spanish language resource I could tell him about that isn't full of all the misinformation we see online? He's already overreacting to this.
Avatar m tn HIV is not passed on this way - if it were then half the world (and probably the rest) would be HIV positive from kissing and other acts involving saliva. HIV is also not passed on during oral sex - so you can be safe to assume that you are categorically NOT as risk from HIV from this act.
Avatar m tn Hello i am very confused about many things i have read on the web about HIV and was hoping to get some accurate answers. 1. Is it possible that the single drop of blood that a rapid HIV test uses couldn't have enough antibodies to show up positive? 2. Is it possible to have a faulty test that produces a "false negative" after window period "3 to 6 months"? 3. nothing in medicine is 100% so how long or how many tests are needed to be 100% sure you are negative? 4.
Avatar n tn Would there be any reason to re test? If she was HIV positive from the start, would I not have contracted HIV in the early stages of our relationship? I've had some anxiety issues as of late, stemming from a sore lymph node under my jaw. If I was HIV positive, would I be showing any symptoms since this relationship has been over for almost a year? Thanks!
