Common Questions and Answers about Hiv evolution

Avatar m tn I also appreciate reading the professional and nonjudgmental advice you give others with HIV-related questions. I noticed that over time, and this is just my perception, that yours and the other physicians' opinions on certain issues have varied somewhat; i.e., several years ago you advised that oral sex was "low risk"(advising against engaging in oral sex with a known hiv-infected individual) but more recently referred to it as "no risk".
Avatar m tn //vir.sgmjournals.org/content/85/11/3173.full It shows through the reverse engineering of genotypes how Man has coexisted with this virus for the last 100,000 years or so.
1414174 tn?1304680526 This paper by Simmonds looks at the genetic diversity and evolution of the virus. It’s a bit lengthy, but pretty much on task for your question: http://vir.sgmjournals.org/cgi/content/full/85/11/3173 Dopey mammoths, hahaha :o)!
Avatar n tn PCR-DNA Tests Neither the Abbott RealTime nor the Roche COBAS AmpliPrep/COBAS TaqMan HIV-1 assay is intended to be used as a donor screening test for HIV-1 or as a diagnostic test to confirm the presence of HIV-1 infection.
Avatar f tn This lack of phenotypic innovation over an extremely long period of divergent evolution demonstrates, perhaps, how the evolution of HCV is shaped and constrained entirely by its close adaptation to the particular ecological niche it inhabits, the human liver. HCV genetic diversity and genotypes Genetic variability of HCV exists at several different levels.
6726276 tn?1421126668 Maybe bipolar is actually an ability, if given freedom can expand the horizons of intillectualization. Maybe our genetic evolution is the next link in evolution. Our minds can expand an link the many ideas together and see a bigger picture. Faith and physics seem to draw the bipolars attention, what higher pursuits are their? Wasn't sure what to write on this, so that's what came to mind in that sec!
634590 tn?1293774093 All of these viruses that are showing up such as the swine flu, HIV, SARS, avian flu etc. and including HepC were passed on to us by the animal world. When you have 10 minutes you can watch this video on youpoop and it will tell you the whole story.lol fret http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMEPV-NTeZs&feature=channel_page http://www.ted.com SARS, avian flu, swine flu ... each virus outbreak raises the question: What can be done?
Avatar m tn I never heard of evolution 101. I assume these is a mutant variant, but I am having a hard time finding clear information after a google search. Is this an untreatable strain of hcv created by Interferon therapy?
11457696 tn?1418401657 I have been diagnosed with MS for over 20 years. I have always been very active in my treatment choices and educated on all past MRI findings. I was in 2nd year studies for MRI technician and had already a good knowledge of what looked normal and what was not at time of diagnosis, I am very grateful for the knowledge I had prior to diagnosis, it made the news of MS a relief as opposed to a crisis for me. Today though, I sit here quite perplexed.
976897 tn?1379167602 It kind of reminds me of the claims made about evolution with no real scientific evidence. We can say isolated groups have different genes due to their environment/diet etc, but this is not proved. We see birds adapting beaks for different environments but with regards to human beings I thought the general consensus was human evolution has basically stopped? The only thing which seems to continually adapt (thank goodness) is the immune system.
Avatar m tn Further evaluation of the hydrocephalus during the pregnancy will give you and your doctors information about the progression of the hydrocephalus. Depending upon the evolution of the hydrocephalus, you may want to discuss further plans for care after the baby is born. Depending upon the institution/group in which you are receiving care, it may be possible to obtain other consultations, including Neonatology, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Neurosurgery, and possibly Palliative Care services.
Avatar m tn How is de long term evolution of patients submited to Konno Procedure ? This discussion is related to Re: Konno procedure.
553878 tn?1226507294 The lack of public knowledge. testing, and misconceptions are unbelievable. Hell herpes, warts and vaginal itch get more publicity (for lack of a better word). From what I ascertain we are just the vanguard of a whirl wind yet to come. Powers that be know the stats. Is it because its"mostly an I.V. drug user thing" like they did with HIV for decades. On that note does and to what extent is the government involved in funding for research.
Avatar n tn As far as hiv, since its evolution there never been even one case of infection through intact condom.

Avatar m tn There are atypical moles that do not lead to cancer but some do. Things to look for are asymmetry, border, color, diameter and evolution. When these are not that of a common mole, it's in your best interest to be evaluated. A dermatologist would be a good person to see. https://www.skincancer.
Avatar f tn Thank you. I will call my family doctor who ordered the monitor Monday morning. I would so very much appreciate if you can find out from your tech support just what this eVolution event monitor is up to. I'm actually beginnng to resent the little beastie for not give up its secrets to me. *wicked grin* I was very surprised to have another event tonight. As on 29 July something was transmitted to a cardiologist in town. He did call. The event was over by the time he called.
