Avatar f tn There isn't a single active case in the United States. It isn't airborne and there are massive efforts in place to control the outbreak in western Africa. Only one person has died from the disease in the US and only because he was too afraid to go in for treatment until it was too late. Not even the family he was living with while he was sick contracted the disease. No, I'm not worried.

Avatar m tn In the United States an estimate 1 million people has HIV out of a population of over 350 million. Among the persons who have HIV about 60% are men who have sex with men. Thus if one's partner is not an IV drug user, the statistical likelihood that a person has HIV is less than 1 in 1000 and probably lower. If you have had 1 negative HIV test at any time more than 8 weeks after your last sexual contact with a partner who concerns you, you can be confident that you do not have HIV.

Avatar f tn Hard to follow your post, but I think you are asking if your hotel room could give you aids/ hiv. No. You can not get HIV from surfaces. HIV is transmitted in specific ways - by unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse (penetrating) or sharing of IV drug needles. It is inactivated by air and saliva. Even in the very off chance you touched someone else's blood, you can not get HIV that way.
