Avatar f tn Hips and glute med ( I have been working on hip flexibility, glute max strength and rolling hips, glutes, quads and IT band in hopes of helping my knees. As well pain in left shoulder (my guess is this is unrelated) PAIN HISTORY: After not being very active growing up, I suddenly became very active 3 years ago when I moved to Asia. I walked to work every day and often did 5-20km a day walking around the city.
Avatar n tn Hello, About 6 months ago I started to do some running and after the first month or so started getting pain above my knee, so I stopped. Since then the pain hasn't gone away and I'm getting desperate now as nothing seems to work. The pain is at its worst when going down stairs, steep hills, or when I put weight on it such as in a lunge or squat. It's had periods of getting better then when I think I'm going to be pain free it always gets worse.
Avatar m tn I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising. I completed a series of 3 shots of Euflexxa about 6 weeks ago and have felt no difference from that. I started physical therapy twice a week for the last three weeks which lasts about 1.

1378884 tn?1315505845 Prednisone can make you feel better whether you have RA or OA. It's a general purpose inflammation reducer used in a wide variety of diseases. It can be injected directly into a joint to ease pain and swelling, given in an intramuscular injection or taken orally to quiet an overall RA flare-up, inhaled to help asthma and COPD patients breathe better, and more. My mom takes injections in her lower back to temporarily ease pain.
Avatar m tn Working with a chiropractor, I got a hip flexor malady adjusted; the PT said I needed to work on flexibility. My left leg kind of 'hangs/float' and doesn't extend out normally. I feel it even when I'm walking. The odd part is that I can't really self-correct it with mental striving. I'm thinking it's more than just bad flexibility - wondering if I'm not really neurologically talking to my lower leg?
1523981 tn?1311318595 This is my 2nd baby, I had hip pain with the first but not this bad. I am on my feet all day but don't go over 8 hours. I'm fine until I sit down then I can hardly get up and walk they get so stiff. Once in awhile I also get pubic bone pain on top that lines up with my hips. Need help on what to do so I don't get put on restrictions at work. I'm only 24 weeks.
Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar m tn I started running in April. The hip tendonitis flared up after that. It's in the crease of the leg where the joint is. Once in awhile itnis bursitis on the outside of the hip. I started a new job unloading trucks and the hip tendonitis got out of control. I stopped running but kept the job. It improved. I tried eliptical after two weeks off and at the end of the work week I was back to severe pain. I am working on strengthening my glutes and hip abductors.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
15502615 tn?1440995053 I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis when I was very young and needed a hip replacement when I was 28 years old. This was in 1974 and the hip joints were relatively new and wouldn't have lasted long. Therefore, my Doctor had me put off the surgery as long as I could stand the pain. I was able to put it off another 7 years until 1981.
Avatar m tn Having had a partial knee replacement 6 weeks ago I can say that the movement and flexibility of the knee is very good. I have adhered to the post op exercise regime and I am free from sticks and supports. However I do suffer pain on the inside of my knee whilst walking which may or may not be soft tissue and/or MCL damage or scarring. I suppose I need to give it time although do get a bit disheartened at times as I would not have expected such pain at this stage.
Avatar m tn I have had knee pain since I was a kid. I am 20, and I have been a swimmer up until last year. I believe it may come down to more than one cause, but I will leave that up to the professionals to decide. Bascially, I have alot of pain around my pattella when squatting past 30 degrees. I believe it is in part due to patellar mistracking. I have been working on flexibility in my hamstrings and quads, as well as strengthening my VMO, since it is weaker than the outer quad muscles.
Avatar n tn i had the same surgery as melhal and im a 42 yr old female, however, i cannot bend my knee when i walk or go down the stairs because something on the side of my knee pops and it hurts so much and i limp and still have swelling in front and back of my knee.
Avatar f tn I exercised fine for about two weeks with that dull, intermittent pain in my hip. But for about a month now, my hip pain has become very severe. I have been unable to exercise or do much stretching at all. I even bought a cane to help me hobble around! It is very, very bad after I’ve been sitting and I cannot abduct my hip without pain. I cannot walk upright and because of this, my left low back has become sore and strained.
Avatar m tn the 1st therapist she went to said the range of motion in her hip/knee was minimal and had her do a stretching routine. I decided not to continue with the therapy since she could do these stretches at home. To my regret she didn't continue with the stretches and about a year later her knee/hip pain worsened. X-ray's were taken. Radioligist and orthopedic said x-ray looked fine. Orthopedic prescribed physical therapy.
Avatar f tn Her ortho doc and my ortho both said knee pain is common with hip problems. Dont let him talk you out of your hip surgery. Youll be fine. Just wanted you to know what may be causing the knee pain.
Avatar m tn If flexing the knee and hip to the 90/90 position and rotating the hip internally produces pain and popping, this supports the diagnosis of torn labrum over hip flexor strain. Absence of pain with this maneuver tends to eliminate torn labrum. If wrapping the hip eliminates the pain, and you are satisfied with that, I would be inclined to continue with that. As far as the long term, I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer to that question presently.
Avatar f tn Were you checked for hip bursitis? That's the most likely thing if your hip is painful to the touch. Were you checked for a deformity that can lead to labrum tears? Does the pain radiate down the leg? That could be periformis syndrome. That's a small muscle that's part of the hip area and the sciatic nerve goes over it in many people so when it gets inflamed it causes sciatica. Bursitis and periformis problems don't show up on an MRI.
Avatar m tn However, if the knee pain is due to a local knee problem then the procedure may relieve hip pain but will not remove knee pain. Please discuss this with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar n tn My mom recently had knee replacement on 6/8/19. (She had both hip replacement in 2010 previously)Can she have MR and tomography? She started having severe hip(both) aches after her right knee surgery. Especially when she moves or walks, she says her both bottoms(where she sits), sometimes hips are hurting so much. Does she need to have MRI or tomography and can she use MRI or tomography with her replacements?
Avatar m tn The arthritis had set in to my left hip, but the pain was spread to my left knee?? doc said the hip replacement would more than likely take care of the knee pain. At first (in the second week after) the pain wasn't so bad in the knee, but the pain came back shortly after that and isn't getting better. I was referred to a Pain management clinic here in Ohio and was prescribe (perkocet) physical therapy.
