Avatar m tn I started running in April. The hip tendonitis flared up after that. It's in the crease of the leg where the joint is. Once in awhile itnis bursitis on the outside of the hip. I started a new job unloading trucks and the hip tendonitis got out of control. I stopped running but kept the job. It improved. I tried eliptical after two weeks off and at the end of the work week I was back to severe pain. I am working on strengthening my glutes and hip abductors.

Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar f tn researchers at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, found out that subjects who performed passive or assisted stretching exercises showed no improvements in how they performed functional movement patterns, such as lunging, reaching and extending their hip from a standing position. Avatar m tn It is important to do warm up exercises, before doing the "hard exercises". The reason for this is to soften and loosen up muscles and tendons. If you start to do normal exercises before "warming up" (exercise bike, and stretches), you could end up damaging and tearing muscles and tendons, which you do not want. Same for singing. It is important to do "warm up" exercises to gently loosen up the vocal chords before starting to sing using the full vocal range.

Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.

To work the hip abductor muscles, perform the hip abduction exercises one to three times a week. These exercises will challenge and tone the hip abductor muscles. It takes six muscles to perform hip abduction. The sartorius muscle commences at the top, front of your hip and extends into your inner, lower leg bone.

You can do the early rehab exercises with light ankle weights or resistance bands, and you can ride a stationary bike at varying degrees of resistance to strengthen your muscles and work on your range of motion at the same time. Consider taking yoga or tai chi classes.
